The beginning intention was to attract players with AN idle server and eventually have them check out the site and the main tf2 server. However, the main server ended up exanimated from lack of support. I kept the idle server going for a while just for *edited*s and it has evolved into what it is now.
The tf2 side needs an active leader to resurrect the original server and keep up with it, more specifically with all the updates. The tf2 community is large especially since it is a f2p game but you have to ensure that you keep it up to date and running in order to keep a substantial population.

Maybe it is just this model but others like it report the same temps at idle.

At idle or just doing things like browsing, word processing, etc…it’s fine and stays around 50 degrees Celsius. I probably need to get a cooling pad to sit it on. Has anyone used one before that was worth it? A good 9 or 10 degrees lower would be my goal.
I do have to send it off to get the monitor fixed (it makes a terrible buzzing sound) so I will ask them to also dust it off at that time as well.
I do have a glass top that it is sitting on but I have the laptop elevated with 2 travel soap holders. This has definitely prolonged the amount of time it takes for the cpu to get hot, however, I need to keep it at a lower constant.

I have never tried this one but I think the only difference is the sound blaster.

You are correct, hence why I said “lazier”. My point was that we already have a position for the duties you have described it’s just the work isn’t being done. The last few years of execs have not done there part which is why pics don’t get up in time, why we don’t have sponsors, why we have low LAN attendance, why we have low meeting attendance, etc…the list goes on. So the answer is not to create another position for one we already have.
I will mention that it seems that we have a better exec group this go around and the club appears to be moving in a better direction than before.

my idea would be to have a steamlined position for the social/community side of things. one person who keeps up with the wcu gaming facebook, moderates the forums, puts the pics on the sites in a timely manner, and is the head of talkin to and getting sponsors. i’d literally jump at a chance to do that job. i love the community side of it and would feel i could do a good job organizing it all to make things more effective.
we also need more of a presence like at vally ballywhoos we need a booth. we need people advertising meeting and encouraging as many people as they can to go. we need to basicially pimp ourselves out there and get our name out and get people interested basically if not i feel that we will continue to shrink.
for me i know i want to make things bigger and better for the club. that means we need numbers money and sponsors.
if the community/social manager position is created that person would be responsible for the sponsors. getting them and keeping in contact with them to maintain sponsorship.
as for numbers we need to be focusing on games that have high turn out if ppl love black ops then we need to have it….period if ppl love starcraft it needs to be there period. its about giving the people wat they want to play. and with the numbers we will get the money. with the moeny we will be able to fund more projects in the future that we want to explore.
I don’t think creating a new position is the answer. Just seems like an excuse to be lazier. You have pretty much described the duties of the marketing admin. I feel if the exec staff balanced the sponsor load it would be simple. Everything has already been done/laid out as far as who, what, when, where, and how to deal with sponsors but it just doesn’t get done. Per the constitution the president has a large roll in obtaining sponsors but he does not communicate well with other staff (he does not visit the forums), so how do you expect it to get done if no one knows the progress? This is basically all falling on waffle. So waffle needs to bring it to kaz’s attention or he should delegate to other execs. The facebook and forums are easily managed by past and current execs and it gets done IMO. If this position was created what would the marketing admin do?
Also, has the sponsor contacting even been started yet for the April lan? I seen a post with thor mentioning getting 1 sponsor but what about others? This needs to start today!
Currently, using html code in signatures is disabled. You would need to use either a BB code signature or an image.
I went ahead and modified your profile using BB code. If you will edit your signature and view the format/tags I used, you will see how to do it.
For future views of this topic wanting to know you would use this format:

So the first link is the psn profile link (use http instead of https) and 2nd link is link to the image (add a question mark to end of this link).
