ParticipantOk so my Saitek headset is broke again and it’s out of warranty this time. I could probably fix it but it’s a real hassle. I need a new one.
So far I’ve used:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826504004
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826102037
Aside from the whole dying thing, I was extremely pleased with both.
My requirements:
NO WIRELESS (dont even go there)
Can be either 3.5mm, USB, or both
Must have mic (concealable/detachable a plus)
Must cover entire ear (not the ones that sit on the ear and hurt after an hour)
Don’t care if it’s VoIP/skype/msn/vonage certified, that’s a sales gimmick
Only recommend things YOU would also be willing to buy *cough* Nickname *cough*
Less than $70 shipped
Right now I’m using a backup:

It’s ok but not great. I’m thinking about buying:

Amazon also has some of the eDimensionals for $60 shipped.
Thoughts? Recommendations? Fire away.

ParticipantThe AudioFX has great sound, but it likes to break itself. The mic was decent as well. They just seem to use a cheap plastic in it which was lame.
I really don’t like any of the headsets these days. It always seems the mic goes out well before the headphones do, so I in turn do them separated now. I wish companies had a try and buy policy because you really don’t know a headset until you pull a 24 hour stint and need that comfyness.

Agreed. It used to be easy to tell the good ones from the bad but now they’re all over the place and even the >$100 ones are hit or miss.
I’m actually leaning towards getting another eDimensional AudioFX. The two I had lasted longer than any of the other headsets I’ve had over the years. They’re a bit pricey but they sound great.

ParticipantThis is my headset and I LOVE it. It has all the features you want as well as the detachable mic. These are the most comfortable headsets I’ve ever worn. It’s right at $70 and looks like shipping is just $4.09. When I checked the circuit city website it looks like they only charge $2.99 shipping.
There is a similar cheaper one here: http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-51MZ0310AA005-Fatal1ty-Headset/dp/B002DS4HTM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305431121&sr=8-1
I have never tried this one but I think the only difference is the sound blaster.

ParticipantI love my plantronics .370s (http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-Open-Ear-Stereo-Headset-370/dp/B000EZUE52) but I would not pay that price for them. I think I got them on some ridiculous sale about 2 years ago for maybe $15. Not sure how the ones you suggested compare but I would definitely get another plantronics set once this set dies/breaks (which I dont think will be anytime soon). I would even go as far as to say those gamecons you are looking at are probably what I personally would buy.

ParticipantWent with the Gamecom 367 I listed in the OP. Got it for $15 shipped from walmart.com using a gift card I had forgotten about
Thanks for all the suggestions.
