My ping is pretty high right now. No porn downloads or anything, no one else is home. I’m pretty sure it’s nothing on my end. My ping’s normal everywhere else.

and toran just reiterated what i going to do: We do not have a system yet to figure out how to distinguish between regulars who get a slot and regulars who don’t. we could make one, but until then we are leaving it as it is and only admin/exec have slots.

Doh, didn’t even see that, lol. Sorry. I was going to point out that we’d have to come up with some sort of criteria if we’re going to let certain people get slots, but nm! I like Nu Rayz’s and Liam’s ideas. I think the donation one might be better, though, cuz 1) rupees for the server and 2) we don’t have to come up with a contest every week or change everyone’s privileges every week (I know the week can be changed to something else, but I think it could still be a hassle for those who maintain the server. I dunno, maybe it won’t, but just throwing it out there).

I agree with Nu Rayz (kinda). I have the patience to wait for a slot to open, so even if I don’t get a reserved slot, it’s not a huge problem for me. But I hate being redirected to another server, especially if it’s a completely different kind of server. For example, a lot of our regulars played in one of PGN’s 1.6 servers, but a few times when it was full, I would get redirected to their zombie server. I like zombie mod, but I wanna play regular 1.6, dammit. I can wait for a slot to open up, but some people might not want to. If we do get a custom server, I’d hate to be redirected there. :[

 

I think both ideas are good — to redirect them to keep them on our network or have reserved slots — but both of them make autojoin disappear (I can deal with it, but still… huge sadface!). If we go with reserved slots, personally, I think they should go to admins only cuz then non-admins would be whining about why one non-admin gets a reserved slot, but he didn’t. Also, I got booted from the server a bunch of times yesterday due to several different steam errors (I’ve never seen these before) and I couldn’t rejoin once because the server was full. There weren’t any other admins in there, so I couldn’t even ask someone to kick any afks to let me in. I think the admins should be able to get in. If we give reserved slot privileges to regulars, well… we have a lot of regulars.

Yay! I’ll be joining the server in a bit. It was doing it a lot — not just during the first 40 seconds — and yeah, you were able to wait through it, but everyone who unfroze was able to kill the people who were still stuck.

Yeah, I went afk today and I got kicked, too. I just noticed that a lot of people who go afk for a few rounds aren’t getting kicked (including an admin with immunity who went afk for an extremely long time. :/). I know it’s possible that they could be coming back and moving or something, so they don’t get kicked, but I’ve seen so many afks lately and no one was kicked automatically. The admins have been doing it manually, so I thought maybe it was removed. But I see I’ve been kicked (not by an admin) so it must still be up. xP

I like the idea of a custom server cuz I usually like to play regular maps. I can handle a few custom maps in the rotation, but I’m usually forcing myself to stay to try to keep the server populated or cuz there’s no other admin. Sometimes also cuz the map’s not that long. It depends on the map. I usually don’t want to play, though.

Admins are on pretty often. Maybe you don’t know all of them yet? I dunno. The last few times I’ve seen you on, me and metric were on (metric is on a lot; I’d add that noob). Veritas is incognito with the name “seR” and Liet’s been popping in and out (although I don’t recall you and Liet being on at the same time).

Yeah, I’ve been to that site. Not in like a year+, though. But still, I haven’t been to NG in a long time, too, and I’d like to see what’s new.

Oh yeah, you just reminded me. To the other admins who read this, I gagged dr. bishop for spamming advertisements (it was bothering me and some other players) and then he disconnected and reconnected and started spamming again, so I temp banned for 60 minutes. I’ve seen him in the server after that. I thought he was just passing through, but I guess not.

 

If he does it again, feel free to up the ban length. I know I will. D:<
