Reading through, not only here but through other threads, the idea of making a “Custom Server” keeps reappearing. Personally… i think it would be a great idea.. for all of those CS’ers who like to escape from the NORM and have a little more excitement in their lives. This makes both the CS’ers who want to leave the server the same so they can get the true un-tailored 1.6 gameplay (And avoid any crazy server messups/funlagtime that might be associated with additives >.< ) and those weirdo’s who like to play with all the fun mod stuffs… (EWW!!!) My vote goes to keeping the 1.6 server the same.. no matter if we can make a new server or not. just IMO. NOT only that. if we had two servers.. people who come for either of the servers might just venture over to play in the other servers too.. so in a way you could have two and promote each of them on each other.. in your little… messages thing you guys have on there now.
I like the idea of a custom server cuz I usually like to play regular maps. I can handle a few custom maps in the rotation, but I’m usually forcing myself to stay to try to keep the server populated or cuz there’s no other admin. Sometimes also cuz the map’s not that long. It depends on the map. I usually don’t want to play, though.
Also, the other thread isn’t locked.
Not at the current slot alotment anyway. Maybe if you bumped the primary back down to 18-20 and had the second one at the same amount. Of course, if people don’t really want to play on the second “custom” server and it’s a struggle to get in the main they’ll leave. Regardless of slots, if you want 2 servers you better be *edited* sure the vast majority of the population wants it, not just the handful that post in the forums.
I was not aware of the other outside factors as far as slotting and other things go. bumping the server slots down on the main = me going to throw a *edited* fit to get in. But my vote still stands, dont add all the nade and knife mods and scripts and what not. It might just be me i like it better this way

If i was to change the regular 1.6 server to purely dust2/inferno/office/snow and other REALLY popular maps and then introduce a 15 slot, votemap custom map server, how popular is that idea?

If you want to add another one that’s fine but what you have now is working and shouldn’t be messed with.

Back to the topic at hand.
I will say that what we have is working but tweaks can always make it better, such as trying out new customs like spain suggested, or removing pf_dust like i hear the whole server whine, but only 2 or 3 on the forums.
I still think that we should pop up another server 1.6. i feel there is a want for it and there is definitely a population for it and if it fails its always possible to take it off.
yeah i dont know if we can or cannot put up another server. masterp claims we would have to like downgrade the slots in our server we have or something? why cant we just put another full one up? alot of players are attracted to the server name too.. if you put 24/7 custom alot of ppl will probably check it out if its fun. those 13 year olds seem to like that stuff *shrug*
No. It’ll have to be a reduced slot server. Tron can’t handle that much of a load and keep things running smoothly.
what if we unmod some of the things off our reg server so we can keep the numbers…plus i still think our reg server should be increased 29plyrs is not enough
i dont think the 1.6 server needs more slots honostly.. just because it starts to get hectic playing 15+ ppl vs each other. and for how iffy the server is now.. i get kicked for so much random stuff. i dont know if its anything that can be fixed or if the server is just struggling with what its got… but i think we should focus on making the server we have as ideal as possible before we work on another? unless we can toss up a like test custom server.

You can’t really balance players and mods to “tune in” the registry as mods use a fluctuating amount of CPU and harddrive resources and there’s no real way to balance them in realtime. You might be able to squeeze 32 slots out of one server but you won’t get anywhere near a pleasureable number of people in a second server if you do so.
Keep in mind there are 2 full servers on Tron and both are looking at expanding to a second server. Both can be had but we can’t increase slots on the mains at the same time.
