I think if ppl want to play in the server bad enough they will click and wait for that slot to open. If you want to run away for your love of autojoin then go marry your autojoin and ill marry WCU when she decides she is ready for me kthx

See that isn’t the point. The point was that I was mentioning a possible complaint one would claim in regards to the slot reserves. It has the “potential” to be a problem, not saying that it is a problem.
I agree with Nu Rayz (kinda). I have the patience to wait for a slot to open, so even if I don’t get a reserved slot, it’s not a huge problem for me. But I hate being redirected to another server, especially if it’s a completely different kind of server. For example, a lot of our regulars played in one of PGN’s 1.6 servers, but a few times when it was full, I would get redirected to their zombie server. I like zombie mod, but I wanna play regular 1.6, dammit. I can wait for a slot to open up, but some people might not want to. If we do get a custom server, I’d hate to be redirected there. :[
I think both ideas are good — to redirect them to keep them on our network or have reserved slots — but both of them make autojoin disappear (I can deal with it, but still… huge sadface!). If we go with reserved slots, personally, I think they should go to admins only cuz then non-admins would be whining about why one non-admin gets a reserved slot, but he didn’t. Also, I got booted from the server a bunch of times yesterday due to several different steam errors (I’ve never seen these before) and I couldn’t rejoin once because the server was full. There weren’t any other admins in there, so I couldn’t even ask someone to kick any afks to let me in. I think the admins should be able to get in. If we give reserved slot privileges to regulars, well… we have a lot of regulars.
Well we could make the reserved slots like the CSS server and have it set so when an admin comes in BOOT out goes a recently join nublet w/o a slot.
and toran just reiterated what i going to do: We do not have a system yet to figure out how to distinguish between regulars who get a slot and regulars who don’t. we could make one, but until then we are leaving it as it is and only admin/exec have slots.
but what do u guys think, auto-kick noobs so that admins can get on? lol

:rolleyes: lol she’s awesome but back to the topic at hand, here is another idea that can be tossed around. Okay so it is a given admins will be on the reserve slot list. How about we encourage regulars to participate on the forums or in a forum contest, and have say the top (meaningful) posters win a reserve slot for a week. I know Admins are very important to the vitality of the server, but so are regulars, there has to be some way everyone can gain from this, not just admins.

charge peeps to get the slot and then say if they wanna not have to pay get their posts and hours up and apply for admin.

Doh, didn’t even see that, lol. Sorry. I was going to point out that we’d have to come up with some sort of criteria if we’re going to let certain people get slots, but nm! I like Nu Rayz’s and Liam’s ideas. I think the donation one might be better, though, cuz 1) rupees for the server and 2) we don’t have to come up with a contest every week or change everyone’s privileges every week (I know the week can be changed to something else, but I think it could still be a hassle for those who maintain the server. I dunno, maybe it won’t, but just throwing it out there).

What’s the verdict on reserved slots? I had to wait a bunch of times to join the server cuz it’s full. :[
Also, maybe I missed it in another thread, but are we going to eventually increase the slots available or keep it as it is?
