ParticipantSince the anonymous post submitted by Frady was closed, I just want to say that I thought Poopie was right. I’m wondering what he did that was wrong.

ParticipantIt’s not about kicking afks in the server. It’s about having the bomb being dropped if they don’t move for like ten seconds after the start of the round. People have been slaying and kicking afks, but I know that not everyone notices that the bomb is afk, especially if no one on terrorist says anything and the admin(s) is on the opposite team. There were a couple of times in the past few days where I was a ct and I didn’t realize the bomb was afk until there were like 2 t’s left. I mean, some people will go back to get the bomb in spawn, but for some of the more useless people, it’s kinda too late.
This would come in handy to the people (non-admins included) don’t notice that the bomb’s afk or don’t say anything about it.

ParticipantWHAT THE *edited*?
I feel SO much safer with those 12-year-old honor students off the street.

Being sick of playing dust2 and then going to a terrible map won’t help the server. This made me LOL.
I think westwood’s okay.

Triple nade kills. Sadly, none of them were mine.
I think one of these might’ve been the first time I’ve seen someone do it (that last one was taken today). I posted a few of them a few pages ago, but someone always got like 2 kills and then killed himself by mistake.torankusu
ParticipantI think 15-20 minutes is okay, but I feel most people don’t like it longer than that (I’ve seen a couple of complaints in the server recently). And I’m talking about awp_dust, not just any custom map. I’d love it if scoutz were 30 min, haha.

My comment was directed at your belief in something they have yet to come close to proving.o rly? It looks like you asked if it was uncommon for it to snow in the northeast in December and then called me retarded, when I didn’t even say anything about the northeast. What I was saying was that for it to snow in places like Texas and Louisiana, it is uncommon (and a friend in Las Vegas just told me it’s been snowing and raining all day and there’s ice all over the place).
As for global warming, I do believe that the world IS warming up. The cause of it — I’m still kinda iffy about.

ParticipantFor as long as I’ve been playing, crouch walking was always when you HOLD crouch down and you walk. I see a lot of noobs do this around the corner cuz they think they’re being sneaky and end up getting a facial. However, I know that lately it’s been turning into when you walk and TAP crouch. I don’t see what advantages you get by doing this. It annoys the hell out of me, though.
Once upon a time, I warned a regular to stop crouch running, so he did the crouch walk instead. I asked Major if that’s allowed and he said no, it’s not (and it’s stated in the rules here, too). Major told me the reason, even though it seemingly does nothing, is to leave no gray areas. Crouch running isn’t allowed because it gives you an unfair advantage, so we ban it. If people were allowed to crouch walk, it could lead to problems like people asking why they can do one, but not the other. Or people might try to slip a couple of seconds of running and then start doing the crouch walk again. Just an example. To avoid ANY kinds of problems, we just prohibit the use of either.
It’s kinda like this situation I experienced recently pertaining to being an admin and following rules. Someone removed me from his friends list because I wouldn’t let him camp spawn and he was trying to use the excuse that we’re friends to have me bend the rules for him. I told him no. Obviously, if I let one do it, someone else will do it, too, if he thinks he meets the same conditions (that he’s my friend). It’s pretty black and white for me. I might warn them a few more times than some random person in the server (that’s as much leeway they get from me), but in the end, they all end up slain/kicked/banned. Don’t leave anything open to interpretation; no gray areas.

Are we going to update the motd to include these? I liked it when the rules used to be up when you joined the server. If people claimed they didn’t know the rules, we could always throw it back at them that they were listed prior to joining a team. Is it really that uncommon to have snow in the northeast in December? Come on quit being retarded.Actually, if you read the previous comments by those in Texas and Louisiana (or even mine; it’s the part you deleted), you’ll see we were talking about the south.
Don’t call me retarded, plzkthx.
By the way, in NJ, it’s very spring-like. Today was probably around 60ºF. I walked around in a light hoodie, jeans, and flip-flops.

nah man, it’s always been that hot, I have family down there so I visit a lot. He’s not saying that it’s hot in LA or TX because of global warming. He’s blaming the erratic weather, like snow in places that are normally hot, on global warming.
I’ve been telling people the same thing. I also blame global warming.

Participantbtw, I forgot to mention this, but I, too, like having a couple of admins in the server (not 10, but I’ve never seen it that high. The most I’ve seen is 4 so far). We don’t goof around (although a couple of people could stop using tsay so much for non-admin stuff) AND when there are some sketchy players in there, we talk to each other in admin chat to see what the others think. It’s good to get other people’s thoughts, imo, and I like that someone else is there to help with the server. Yes, we’re admins, but we’re not perfect. Sometimes other admins will slay someone I didn’t see because I went afk temporarily or they’ll tell someone to plant the bomb because I was too engrossed in chat for that round. Ten admins is a lot (but how often does this even happen?), yes, but having a few admins in there at a time isn’t a bad thing. I haven’t seen anything bad come out of a few admins policing the server at the same time.

ParticipantI usually just use an awp and pistol, but I voted for the third option to include nades cuz it’s funny when people get naded. JUST HE nades would be all right with me.

It’s sad how some of you people dont respect the opinions of older members & use foul language & instantly wave off thoughts.Hear adam gets fussed at now-a-days too.
I know I’ve seen you in the server, but I haven’t seen you on the forums until recently. Although you might be friends with Adam and/or started playing here a long time ago, if you don’t make your presence known, you can’t expect everyone to know who you are when you decide to pull seniority. It seems like some of the current admins don’t really know who you are — myself included — and you’re trying to talk to us like we owe you respect. I’m not dismissing your opinions, but you can’t expect people to automatically show respect for someone who, as far as I can see, hasn’t really been active within the community (you’ve been registered on the forums for three years, but 29 of your 32 posts are just from the last four days). And like I said, I see you in the server sometimes, but the impression I got was that a few of our regulars (and a few admins like Poopie and Major) know you, but you’re not very active otherwise. I’m just saying how I see it; I can’t say how others might see you, but based on some admins’ reactions here (ren, rayz, briefs, so-cal), I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a similar impression.
I read your posts and I take what you say to heart, but I wouldn’t go around complaining about respect to people who don’t know you.

This update kinda takes care of that now.torankusu
ParticipantI was addicted to Starcraft from its release to 2005-2006. I’m psyched about SC2. I think SC and 1.5 (no, that’s not a typo) will always be my favorites.

ParticipantGotta love the weekend deals. I bought the Orange Box during one of the Weekend Deals for like $10 cheaper (now it’s like another $10 cheaper) in March.

Then you, sir, are a noob. Pistols, shotguns, rockets, pretty much everything can move a sticky. I’m not sure if flamethrower can but the “reflect” secondary does a fine job of it.Well, you were able to move them, but they didn’t go far. I thought I edited my previous post to include that, but that was my main concern. My main class is engi and when I tried to move the stickies with my pistol, they didn’t go very far. Some of them didn’t move at all or needed more than few shots to move them (I think; I don’t try to move them very often). My second most played class is demo and I know that you can move other stickies with a sticky. Other than those, I didn’t see too many people trying to move stickies except for the pyro and heavy. Sorry that my sticky-moving experience is so limited.
And yes, the pyro can move the stickies with compression blast.

ParticipantHm, there was a time when I thought too many people were getting admin, and there are a couple who I thought shouldn’t get it, but got it (one already got his taken away). I don’t see too many admins getting on nowadays, but as I said in another thread created by Major, it’s finals time right now anyway, so that can explain the absence (of some of them). Anyway, the holidays are coming up, too, so I would say if they don’t start becoming more active within the next few weeks, the roster should be looked over.
Otherwise, I think it’s fine for now. I don’t think we should take on any more admins for the time being, though.
I kinda agree about the interpretation of rules. However, the thing about our community is we have a lot of threads in the admin section about clarifying rules, or if an admin is unruly, there’s always a thread to address the admin and issue. I think the execs do a good job of keeping the admins in line and helping out with clarification of server rules. I know I’ve bothered Liam a bunch of times (and Major a few times) about what to do if someone does this or that, or what’s allowed and what isn’t.

ParticipantHmm, it had to be over a year ago. I started playing in here when app’s server died and a lot of people migrated here and the server was pretty populated back then. I wasn’t here for it. :/
Just out of curiosity, how long did you try it for? I mean, would it be bad if we tried it just for one week?

<stealthily retreats from thread>
I know you’ve warned against this several times. I’m just saying I’d like to TRY it. Bunny and maybe someone else suggested we do a trial period of like a week. If it fails, we can go back to our previous state. I think if enough people want to try it, if they really want it to work, they’ll try to make it work. Maybe that’s a little too idealistic than realistic, but it wouldn’t hurt to give it a whirl.
