In the next few days we’ll have an update out that has a couple of new features for the Engineer and Spy, and a variety of other smaller fixes.December 11, 2008 at 7:48 pm #66097Rydell382
ParticipantShaweet! can’t wait for the upgradeable sentries and dispensers too, though there’s no way to stop people from using them in tournaments. The spy’s little tweak will be very annoying for heavy/medic teams and snipers because you can cloak and grab ammo packs on the way to the enemy base
Awesome, I didnt realize that the mini-update was coming out tonight

Participantand by soon i mean 60mins… its now live
The Engineer's teleporters can now be upgraded to level three. It will recharge faster the higher level it is The Engineer's dispensers can now be upgraded to level three. It will give out metal and heal faster as it is upgraded Spies will be able to recharge their cloaking ability by picking up ammo off of the ground or from health cabinets Some changes to the second part of the first stage of Goldrush to give the attackers more of an advantage Any weapons that fire bullets (shotguns, sniper's machine gun, heavy's minigun, etc.) can now break apart the Demoman's stickybombs The icon on the HUD for a person calling for Medic will now give more information to the medic (if the target is low on health, on fire, etc.) Added an achievement tracker that will allow people to choose specific achievements that they are trying to get There is now a custom icon for death messages when the player was killed from a critical hit Added a new particle effect for when a player enters the water Added smoke to the feet of a rocket jumping soldier Players will now have some particles swirling around them so other players can see when they are overhealed

It takes REAL talent to play demo, you can’t just pick up the grenade launcher and start getting headshots with it like practically every other gun in TF2.
Besides, that’s not really that big a change. Before when they shot the stickies they flew off in random directions and became almost useless anyway.

Participantmeh, I dont even care about TF2 anymore… only when it comes time to play it at the LAN.

Participantit actually takes a few shots to destroy each sticky, and while you’re concentrating on destroying them, its a good ambush opportunity for a pyro.
also you can’t get headshots for any weapon except the sniper rifle, one of the reason’s I love this game.

I don’t really have to worry about this cuz I don’t put my stickies where they’re visible.
I was kinda *edited*ed about this last night in IRC, but then I realized that it’s not that big of a problem for me AND… my most played class is engi, so this works out for me. I think you were able to shoot away a sticky or two, but it didn’t always move them. I’ve lost many a sentry to stickies I couldn’t shoot away. RIP.MasterP said:

The only classes I know of that could move stickies were the pyro (compression blast), heavy (minigun), demo (stickies), and maybe the soldier (rocket launcher). I know a few times I might’ve been able to shoot a sticky with a shotgun or pistol, but it’s not as effective as the weapons I just mentioned (with the exception of the soldier, though. Not 100% sure about that one).
This update allows anyone to be able to move the stickies, not certain classes. It’s pretty useful, imo.

ParticipantAll weapons are good against stickies, some are just easier than others.

Participantits still uber *edited*…. cause they still could go boom if they get shot away

Then you, sir, are a noob. Pistols, shotguns, rockets, pretty much everything can move a sticky. I’m not sure if flamethrower can but the “reflect” secondary does a fine job of it.

Participantit’s a little tricky to “move” stickies with a shotgun or pistol, especially before the demoman detonates them. for me usually they end up against a wall because I always put the sentry close to the wall so I have a little bit of cover on my back against spies.

I thought I edited my previous post to include that, but that was my main concern. My main class is engi and when I tried to move the stickies with my pistol, they didn’t go very far. Some of them didn’t move at all or needed more than few shots to move them (I think; I don’t try to move them very often). My second most played class is demo and I know that you can move other stickies with a sticky. Other than those, I didn’t see too many people trying to move stickies except for the pyro and heavy. Sorry that my sticky-moving experience is so limited.
And yes, the pyro can move the stickies with compression blast.

ParticipantThe shotgun is VERY effective at getting stickies away from engineer structures.

ParticipantI always whipped out my pistol. Oh well.
This update kinda takes care of that now. -
