ParticipantJust because CS is “dead” on campus, does not mean that the game is dead overall. It is still one of the top competitive shooters out there. The reason it’s dead on campus is because of failure to advertise our servers. All the other games tend to fade in and fade out. WC3 still stands strong amongst RTS’s, but I don’t believe there is a necessity for that server. Before you make judgments on a game’s status (especially if it is based on personal opinions of your friends) do you research first.
And secondly, admins WILL abuse the change map rotation to change it to maps that they WANT to play. What needs to happen is weeding out of admins now, then develop a tier system in which only a select few admins (the CL, and a select few at the CL’s discretion in which admins have shown their dedication and integrity on the server for an extended period of time). This isn’t some power that should be given out freely.

ParticipantOh trust me.. I think most of us hate the Patriot Act as well. And Bush may’ve been a Republican, but he didn’t act like it.

ParticipantJust finished paying off my Hardened edition preorder. I just wish I was lucky as some of the people I know that have already gotten to play some of the content.
Oh Malley
ParticipantAlso.. after you decide what servers you’re going to keep/make/whatever…
ADVERTISE THEM ON CAMPUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!oneoneoneone!!!!111
We haven’t in the past. Do it now if you want PC’s to grow on campus. Work with the Marketing Admin on this one.

ParticipantI’m assuming Ephraim didn’t get a change to post them up last night.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWell, being that I’m predominantly console I doubt I will be as much help as the others.. But as far as general advice, I’m willing to help out.
Oh Malley
ParticipantNo silly. Everyone is supposed to love the AntiChrist. I think most of us have already realized he’s just like all the other idiotic politicians.

Some officer should have a verizon phone. Find them, mug them, and voila you have a phone.I’ll also hit up IRC.

Shingi should have a phone. >,> Mug him.
Oh Malley
ParticipantAnother idea.. why not give the president emergency control powers over the cell phone satellites too? I mean, cause surely, terrorists use cell phones. >,> Sounds like the government is trying to prepare to defend itself from a coup by controlling all forms of communication. 😡
Oh Malley
ParticipantLooks like there’s some sort of plugin that didn’t get updated if I had to guess.

Keep in mind the shutdown power would be over backbone providers as well because they are the ISPs of the ISPs. This means Obama would have shutdown power of all US based websites and services.Google going down for a day would hurt everyone, not just the US.
Guys, this is what happens when democrats control congress. I know republicans aren’t much better but at least they never tried to take over the internet…
No. They just try to take over the world. 😡
Be independent. Stupid party politics.

ParticipantSadly, I think that’s up to Congress. Not the people.
Granted, I don’t think either are that intelligent anymore. If ever.

i come to the forums and i admin for the servers but as i have been told im not a member of the clubEx – This Club is still a club recognized by the University. They need names of students and alumni so that the University will still provide funding and resources to the club.
Many members of the club are not, however, students or alumni of WCU. That’s the awkwardness of this community/club. We’ve got a dichotomy. The WCU Gaming Club that exists on the campus grounds, and the WCU Gaming Club that exists on the internet. There are those who are members of one and not the other, but several of both.
This thread is aimed directly at those who apply to who are apart of the on-campus presence.

ParticipantI find it amusing that the great graphical beast that is a PS3, has to be fed through a yellow video cable.

ParticipantMitch, at some point, we have to cut our losses and try something else. The server sits there with 4 bots for WAY too long and it seems like many of the few who still bother to try and populate it are pushing to change it to 100 tick. I know you don’t have the power to axe another server, but we do have a meeting coming up this week. Let’s discuss this subject there.
Oh Malley
ParticipantStill to say though, we have so many internet celebrities now because of retarded infectious videos.. We have so few celebrities with actual talent anymore.
And granted, the numbers may still be the same (which I highly doubt) it sure is publicized a whole lot more and found acceptable, or at least tolerated.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWell, being that our greatest celebrity is a cat that plays the keyboard.. something is definitely *edited*ed up about our culture.
Not to mention the middle school kids doing anal. That’s taking sexual liberation TOO far, imo.
Oh Malley
ParticipantPretty much. Until I figure out how to play again.. and I own with a retarded weapon like the UMP. That’s usually how it goes.
Oh Malley
ParticipantWell, if I’m free and available I’ll be able to be an extra body to shoot at.
Oh Malley
ParticipantI don’t know. During my tenure at Western, I can’t remember how many times Western compromised private information by accidentally sending it out to third parties.

ParticipantIt seems like the PC community has really lost its footing over the past several years. When I first joined the gaming club, it was the PC community that was strong and well-founded while the consoles barely had any representation or organization. Now it’s flip-flopped. I believe it’s because of the rapid growth of the console side and it fighting for equal representation. And now it’s dominated the PC side. Let’s not forget the club’s roots and try to build the PC section back to what it once was. (Note: I’m strictly speaking in terms of on-campus presence. The on-campus presence is the foundation of the club as a whole, both on-line and off-line.)
Having the alternating schedule of free play LANs and competitive LANs allow for more time to obtain big name sponsors for the competitive LANs and more time to spread word if you’re looking to attract a lot of new people from the outlying areas. The free play LAN would just bolster on-campus bonding and hopefully build the foundation a little bit stronger.
I’m not saying we schedule more LANs. It’d be nice if we could. But instead, provide clarity and focus to the LAN. For too long, we’ve been trying to hold this balance of free play and competition at every LAN and it’s been failing pretty hard. Let’s just try something new for a year, see how it works.
Oh Malley
ParticipantFor the record, I should be available to attend the meeting via IRC if someone at the meeting will have access to it.
Oh Malley
ParticipantThe difference between the Saturday mini-LANs and the casual LANs is size and scope.
The casual LANs would be open for console players AND PC players. You would have organized blocks of time for certain games to be free-played for the most part. You could still have door prizes and such as well.
Oh Malley
ParticipantCan I bring up a suggestion that has been talked about between several leaders both present and past?
>,> Having competitive LANs AND casual LANs?
Secondly, the fewer games the better, but there’s always going to be some crowd that will feel like they got ignored and kicked out and will proceed to *edited* and whine.
Get used to it. And do the best you can with what you’ve got.

ParticipantRunning for Alumni Advisor as well.
Nickname, NoDice, and Oh Malley. It will be quite the interesting turn of events…
Oh Malley
ParticipantHonestly, I think the entirely game lineup for all systems need to be re-examined. Look at what new games are coming out and appropriate them according to the LAN dates. Honestly, try to vary the games up a bit and schedule them accordingly so we’re not watching the same thing for 6+ hours straight. PCs balanced it out very well by changing game-styles (even though all their games were within the same genre).
My last LAN as a Western student was by far my best one because the PCs laid out their games very well, it was fun, and it kept a good pace. Consoles tend to drag on.. and then get rushed.
Oh Malley
ParticipantGetting solid, stable console sponsors.
Establishing a projected game line-up or at least prospects with the upcoming big releases.
