You do know they can’t unban you right? Like even if they wanted to they couldn’t.

ParticipantLike having LANs with internet access? Like having those giant switches? Like having game servers? Like having the forums? Like having 60 free Steam LAN accounts?
Without alumni, none of that happens.
If you’re planning on doing what I think you’re doing this is a very bad idea. Remember that no one on campus has even attempted to learn what we do to keep things going so when something does break, the forums are just gone. The stats tracking just goes away. The website, poof, becomes no more.
The fact that Kaz-ka would even consider this notion is, well, sad.

ParticipantIdk if Lemm wants to go through all the hassles to code this but alternate skins for this are possible.

MasterP’s comments on the situation were awful and I even thought he was a very reasonable admin on the way he handled stuff in the past. You know maybe being on the outside looking in is different and I don’t play CS Source, but I just don’t stand for behavior of this manner from adults that are suppose to know better. :/ I really had a lot of respect for you MasterP on how you took situations lightly, but when you say stuff like “Just unban you? You don’t see why spamming is bad?” when I am pretty sure he knows it is bad, is asking to be unbanned, and saying sorry of the situation is immature. He understood his ban was for 30 minutes for spamming the server so if the 30 minutes are up don’t keep him banned and disrespect him. He did his time for the crime give it up. He does it again perma-ban him. Case closed.
For starters, just because I have the ABILITY to unban him doesn’t mean I have the AUTHORITY to unban him. It’s Lemm’s server and having people join the server while I’m playing SPECIFICALLY to ask me to unban him automatically makes me not go the extra mile to give a *edited*. Several admins complained to me about being spammed and annoyed by others about unbanning him. Both PK and the players know that only Lemm is officially allowed to unban but they didn’t care and kept hassling every admin they could find anyway. Now had he quiety messaged me or Lemm on Steam, explained the situation, and asked for an unban we’d have confirmed the ban length and then unbanned. As soon as you start spamming or abusing the server or its admins it elevates the situation to something beyond what I can unban for, especially when people are complaining on the forums about it.
Secondly, this is by far NOT the first time PK has been in hot water with the admins here. PK has a long track record of being a complete *edited* to admins when he doesn’t get his way so you’ll have to forgive us when we don’t really jump up to immediately rush to his aid when stuff like this happens, especially when he goes and does stuff he KNOWS *edited*es us off.
Lastly, I find it hard to believe you’d think me immature when he never apologized for spamming the server. “hahha sorry im bored as *edited*!” means that yeah he knew it was wrong and did it anyway because he didn’t have anything better to do. It’s not an apology, especially when the post ended in “hahahaha”.
You’ll have to forgive me for caring about earning your respect if the only way to do so is to tolerate and enable spammers. You don’t ever play with me so you don’t really know me. If how I don’t unban spammers is your measure of my character, you’ve got a lot to learn about my admin style and how “mature” and “reasonable” of an admin I am. Most of the people who have played with me in-game like me both as a player and an admin so I’d ask that before you jump to take the side of someone who constantly annoys the *edited* out of admins and ignores rules and warning (notice he was warned before being banned to begin with and ignored it) you might try putting the admins’ shoes on and walking around the block.
Now I have no idea why he was banned but right now it is my resposibility to maintain a working and stable server. Had I been in-game when he was spamming his IP would likely be on permaban for that because as a server op it’s my job to ensure spamming and abuse like that doesn’t happen. Now imagine if the TF2 server had been full and his spamming had caused them lag, would you then sit there and bash us for the actions we took or would it change things?

And nothing of value was lost.
Except the potential to attract a community from it.
Tbh, this doesn’t add up. This eliminates all potential professional gameplay and any communities that would have supported it are now holding off. There will be no mods, no customized servers. I predict this aspect going away real fast, either that or the PC support for the game will go away even faster. No one wants to play in a vanialla server they can’t control and no responsible game developer should even consider it an option.
I’m glad I didn’t pre-order the game. Infinity Ward just told us which of the two platforms the game was designed around and it obviously wasn’t the PC. This once again proves the old saying that games can only be successful on PC or console, never both. It’s a shame though, the game had such promise in the PC world.

Mike says:
i think the wireless card may be bad
could be driver or my router
i will know for sure tomorrow
but im betting bad wireless card
Mitch says:
should i go ahread and say it now or wait for tomorrow?
Mike says:
you can wait
the real test will be what happens when i call acer support about it
Mitch says:
nothing?
Mike says:
i would really rather not have to return the whole laptop because of this
Mitch says:
“oh well im sorry, please hold and ill transfer you to hardware support” *insert dialtone sound*
Mike says:
yeah…
and having a netbook that cant access the net…
not so useful
Mitch says:
its a book
Mike says:
like it was sitting in a chair streaming video and pinging google no problem for about 20 mins
the second i unplugged it from the wall and moved it it started dropping packets
then eventually it just dropped the connection completely
i mean its an intel wireless card
it shouldnt be failing so hard
Mitch says:
man its really getting hard to hold this back
it wants to fly out and hit you in the face
simultaneously generating a palm to my own face
Mike says:
well in my defense, almost every netbook would also be using an intel wireless card…
Mitch says:
“they’re all made by the same place”
except some work and others, well
not so much
….
Mike says:
of course compounding the problem would be the fact that im using the acer laptop to connect to my trendnet router…
lol
the same router that has lately been giving susan and i random page cannot be displayed issues
so im gonna bring the netbook to work tomorrow and see if it works there

Well, considering I’m a senior, not on campus, and an actual club member.. not an alumni, I’ll continue to post as I see fit. Oh, and if you think reporting people to WCU from here will stop ANYTHING? You are sorely mistaken, any good troll would post them from a public access instead of their room. Tis just good business.
If you or the router you on has a 152.30.*.* address your information and identity are logged. If you are offcampus they’ll simply block your IP from the network. It would really suck to not be able to access the WCU website or webcat from your house.
If you think we can’t track your activity you are sorely underestimating how bored campus IT is.
Guys really, this isn’t meant to be hard. Don’t be retarded and you’ll do fine.

Well for one Mitch, tell me where exactly it was that I said that I didn’t care about the PC side of the club. All I said was that the games suggested for the new server were pretty much the same games you guys are playing now, and its true. I didnt say I didnt want to support the PC side of the club, I do and I want to try to revitalize it. But I cant do this *edited* on my own, I need help.
Please explain how adding more servers is a bad idea. Any Left4Dead server we host will be full almost 24/7 and our current CSS server has a waiting line to join on most nights. With Left4Dead 2 coming out in less than a month and ModernWarfare2 just after that this is the PERFECT opportunity to drastically expand our online community. But now we can’t. Instead of getting an early start on the new games we’re stuck with a server incapable of hosting them.
Please quit judging our server selection and tossing the “you don’t know it won’t fail” around. If given enough admins and server resources it CAN’T fail.
Btw, the “new” games being played at the LAN aren’t hostable on our server anyway so until non-retarded suggestions are made we can’t really act on them. We’re willing to host almost any hostable game but we can’t make other servers suffer because of it.

And as far as CLs go, like I have said many a time before, I practically had to beg everyone at the meeting to take the positions open for the PC side of the club. Hell I even posted a thread on here a week or 2 before the meeting started and still, with the exception of like one or two people, practically nothing.
Like I said before, if someone at the meeting can’t fill the position don’t pressure people into taking positions they aren’t capable of filling. I set up the offcampus voting rules for this specific problem and they work extremely well. We have yet to have an offcampus CL not perform their duties as well as on campus CLs were.
Kaz-Ka said:
As far as the Advisers go, Im just letting go of Ronny, he told me he didnt want to do it anymore. I wanted to find someone on campus who I see a lot and Carter is one of these people.
Letting Ronny go is fine. My problem wasn’t with the fact you were dropping advisors it was merely with the fact that you didn’t tell us or seek help when it was obviously needed. Between all of us we know a ton of professors and it’d have been easier on you to let us do that heavy lifting.
Kaz-Ka said:
About Keith. I know you practically set up the meeting for me to talk to him but for the past couple of weeks, but I have been busy with classes and such. Now you can sit there and say whatever you want about however many hours your taking, all the stuff your doing, but frankly I dont care. Ive been busy with classes (which is more important than this club to me, priorities, I have to make good grades to keep my financial aid) and gaming club stuff on top of having to take Kelley to doctors appointments because she keeps having seizures for some reason. So about Keith, Ill get to him when I can, my priorites are line, this club is not going to be my life. If you think i should only care about this club and ONLY this club, vote to remove me from office.
I never said don’t focus on RL but running a club takes ALOT of time. I can’t remember the number of sleepless nights spent fixing crap on the servers or dealing with admin drama when I should have been studying or doing homework. This is something that should be considered before running for president. I know you think you’ve got it rough, but now you understand what the rest of us have gone through. You’ve got it no harder than the rest of us have had.
Kaz-Ka said:
And you say I agreed with you all the time when you were here? ROTFL! This coming from the guy who told me Soul Calibur IV would be a bad game to replace Mario Kart Wii because Mario Kart Wii had better sells. LOL. I’ve tried to go through with some of the things you have suggested but sometimes, it does not work out or isnt very popular among the majority of people that show up to the meetings. But Mitch, I’ve always given it to you straight, whether it be on these forums or in person.
I can name on one hand the number of PC-related issues you didn’t agree with me on while I was on campus. Since then it takes hands, feet, and a TI-89 calculator to keep up with.
Kaz-Ka said:
You on the other hand never brought things up in person that you didnt like, but instead waited to get on the forums and complain about it. So yea, if you want to come up here and talk to me about this because you think it will make me see things your way, be my guest, I live in Central C Hall 126 B.
There’s a reason for that. Every decision I didn’t agree with was made when I wasn’t around. Oddly enough the one you mentioned above was made at a “We’re just talking about rules” meeting that later turned into a “Let’s ignore the protocol and change games being played” meeting. It’s also hard to contact you when you don’t have a phone. You can’t sit there and tell me that if something I didn’t agree with was done at a meeting that I didn’t call your *edited* out on it on the spot because we both know I did. Quite often.

ParticipantThe PC side is dying and you just posted that you don’t care. Great to know. The largest hinderence to the PC side right now is server capacity. We are starting to really attract players in NC, players that might come to a LAN, and i’d be nice if were weren’t bottlenecked. Probably doesn’t matter though because they all want to play CS/CSS…
Almost 4 weeks ago I virtually set you up a meeting, told you when he was open, found the time that you were both open, and all but called him and asked for it to happen. If you had no intention of doing it why did you even bother giving the impression you cared? All you had to of said was that you didn’t care and I’d have moved on to another form of contacting him. When you tell someone you’re going to do something and then a month later say you never had any intention and that you don’t care it does *edited* them off. Just take an hour out of your “busy” schedule and go meet with him.
Btw, until you have 21 hours of classes, 2 senior projects, an exec position, an CL position, are a head admin for another server, and are working 20 hours a week you don’t have the right to use the “I’m too busy” excuse. I was too busy and *edited* still got done.
If you’re having trouble with the advisors TELL SOMEONE. The alumni know enough people on campus to get you a new advisor virtually overnight, all you have to do is ask. Btw, if you drop Stephen as the staff advisor you better include a bunch of switches in the budget because you probably won’t be getting them anymore, you’ll probably also lose XBOX Live access as well.
It’s nice to know you’re getting console sponsorships, where are with the PC sponsorships? Nothing has been said and that gives the impression nothing is being done.
With the dropped purchasing requirements, why are we even bothering for a sponsorship for pizza? Unless there’s more that hasn’t been said it should be as easy as tossing in a purchase order.
About rules, when can we expect them for the PC side? Oddly enough this very thread is about tossing out an inactive student CL, obviously the rules for TF2 haven’t been made…
You know none of this is personal Kaz-ka but with the giant rant you gave at the beginning of the semester about how you wanted to rebuild and revitalize the PC section those of us actually in the PC section were expecting a little more than “I have better things to do than get you a new server to expand on.” It’s disheartening. They’ll ALWAYS be another LAN or another meeting, always something else to do but this process takes months to enact and the longer you wait the longer the PC side sits there not getting anywhere.
Btw, why is that when I was on campus you were always game for everything and now that I’m 200 miles away all you do is trash my ideas and play down the same suggestions you previously agreed with? Almost makes me think if I came back to campus you might start agreeing with me again…
…there’s an idea…

MasterP
ParticipantIt should be, and probably will be, discussed but that won’t mean things get done.
If this continues into next semester there will be some serious talk about the entire PC side being taken away from you students by alumni due to extreme lack of caring. Being a CL is NOT hard, hell Lemm doesn’t even have broadband and he’s doing the best job right now. Being PC VP is pretty hard but I’m doing all the everyday work anyway so the current position filler should have an easy time doing the rest, but I’d bet a paycheck he isn’t.
And until Kaz-ka gets off his lazy *edited* and meets with Keith Corzine to get us a new server the PC side will continue to be bottlenecked at where we are right now. It’s look more and more like the only way for us to get a new server is for me to drive 5 hours back to campus and meet with Keith.
I imagine sometime in the next week or so someone is going to magically get a PM that has the FTP, rcon, and firedaemon logins to the TF2 server. I’d love for the PC VP to deal with this but I love the club more than I’m afraid of being punished for overstepping my authority.
MasterP
ParticipantWow these new members are really great for the club. Guess everyone with 4500. Loving it.
I won’t be at the LAN. I’m not driving 5 hours to play the 2 decent games. Plus I don’t really want to deprive you new guys of winning, because if I went those not on my team wouldn’t. If you don’t believe me feel free to check out the scorecard in my profile.
GL with the lan btw. Last time I didn’t do power and Nickname didn’t do networking things failed. Hard.
But hey, with all these new smartass members you’re bound to fail win.

ParticipantEvery time you change a server’s IP you lose 25-33% of the players. If we went to the other and then had to come back we’d lose minimum 50% of the playerbase. If we were to take this server it would be a second server, we won’t risk losing people trying to move the main server.
