ParticipantIf you want to test server configs test them AFTER you make a name for yourself in the community and have at least 1 populated server. If you pick a gameplay style that isn’t popular at the beginning you can permanently damage your reputation in a game and end up as one of those servers at the bottom of the list that always sit at 0 players.

hey i never said “all” people change but she seems nice and i dont see anything that she says now reflecting the things that happened in the pastAnd Urban appeared (to a minority) to have made a complete turnaround too but look how that turned out. I’m not saying she hasn’t learned but there are many ways to learn whether or not a player has grown up without giving them admin. That’s like celebrating someone’s graduation from alcohol rehab by taking them to a bar.

People change Kuros and stop being so negativeThe “people change” arguement should have been learned from Urban. People don’t change.

boo i heard the 805 runs hot
The entire Intel 800 series (Pentium D) gets hot.
That would be a good swap for your laptop depending the video card it can be upgraded to.

I can kind of understand why they would want to setup the route that way, a lot of communication goes on between NY and LA when it comes to commercials and movie media, so they need as much bandwidth as possible to transfer media like that 400 MB/s is the minimum to safely transfer video files and not get any artifacts in the footage. Maybe that is why Time Warner has it setup like that. Oh and I too know how it is with Time Warner and trying to deal with them on the phone, but if you complain enough you’ll get your way…Typically complaining works. Time Warner uses default passwords on all their modems and I’ve found that being able to tell the tech the exact signal strength my modem is getting also opens their eyes. It lets them know that I know they’re BSing me.
Don’t get me wrong, I can understand them having a major pipeline out to California (there are several) but it doesn’t make sense to not just bounce him to through their Atlanta hub.

Master P, can you do mine??? I used to get a ping of roughly 35 at wcu, now i get around 90. I have bellsouth dslI would feel more comfortable calling and complaining if i was able to tell them the exact problem.
I take that back, yours is the most retarded. And just to be sure it’s working right I traced my home IP back and it’s taking the route it should so

Can he get Time Warner to re-route it?No. He can call and complain but all my dealings with Time Warner about their main lines were extremely frustrating. Btw, to talk to a real person hit the 0 number 3-4 times at their main voice prompt menu.
Also, I editted my last post and included the traceroute.

ParticipantGeographical distance doesn’t mean anything when comparing internet latency. The only time geography makes a difference is across the Atlantic (normal + 200ms) or Pacific (normal +400ms) Oceans.
I traced your IP and it appears your ISP (Time Warner) takes an extremely retarded path to WCU. Your connection goes from New York City to Chicago to Los Angeles to Durham then to WCU’s campus. I can’t say I’ve seen a connection path this retarded before but it explains why your connections in California are faster than the ones here.

ParticipantAll 4 maps are good and it really doesn’t matter what order they’re in.
Are teams going to be random, “random”, or self-picked?

ParticipantVista is no more possessive of the boot loader than most linux distros are.

ParticipantDeagle is a good map to play with normal weapons so long as everyone has the same gun. All paras on deagle is kinda fun.

ParticipantIf there’s any way to do it, please try to alternate the times of PC and console tournaments. With as much time as we have there’s really no reason to start a tournament for both at the same time. Obviously this won’t work for the longer ones like Brawl but it’s something to consider. It might ease the console/PC conflicts.

ParticipantThere are several tools on Hiren’s that work really well for recovering files after a format. You might be able to recover the entire partition but if you’ve formatted and then installed again you’ll be lucky to get much of anything as it writes over the non-deleted data.
There’s nothing wrong with Windows. Keep in mind that it was working before you started tinkering with it. Linux is just as vulnerable to dual-boot screwups as Windows.

ParticipantThe cool part is we didn’t do anything to “break” or “fix” “latency” on the server. This was most likely a problem your ISP finally got around to fixing.

but iv played cal for 6 seasons i guess, never got caught…Doesn’t necessarily mean you weren’t. I’ve had a demo and FRAPS of obvious hackers before and the CAL people said they were clean. Part of the reason I quit playing there.

ParticipantWhen you change the logo make sure you change the call for it in the plugin itself so it won’t kick people with the old logo.

ParticipantCAL teams formed in this fashion don’t last long. Trust me I’ve tried it. Unless you have a maxed out team of people that are REALLY active you’re going to end up getting hosed.

If you want an AFFORDABLE chip, well you’ll have to take that up with Kuros. He’s the only one here who sits at his comp and counts down the minutes until it’s released.

NoteIf you are restoring a 64-bit system using a 32-bit Complete PC backup or a 32-bit system using a 64-bit Complete PC backup and have more than one operating system installed, you should not select an operating system. If an operating system is selected by default, clear the selection by clicking a blank area of the window, and then click Next.If you unclick the OS to restore it should install a fresh copy SEPERATE from the original install you had. Vista CANNOT be upgraded to 64-bit or downgraded to 32-bit, what you installed is what you’ve got.
The complete restore that it is talking about is similar to the WinXP System Restore and it uses a similar (but more inclusive) type of restore points.

beware the intel newness… my cpu was newness when i got it as well as the socket it set on (LGA775 was new back then) and it wasn’t worth the newness… /me wishes he went AMD and AGPAMD changes sockets almost every year now and (typically) each generation is non-backwards compatible. At least with Intel you know that 4 year old P4 processor is still going to work in a 680i board.
