They don’t have good internet, enough power, or enough useful tables to do any sort of LAN event. Plus this year their games are back to pay-to-play so there’s really no benefit over other places on campus that are better suited to your needs. Plus you’d have to pay Aramark to use the tables area or the UC to use the arcade area, neither of which will give you enough table space for a bunch of TVs and the projectors are useless as well.

The cool part about it now is that the candidates themselves are limited by public finance laws when running for office. Unless of course they opt out of them but there’s only been 1 candidate to do that so far (Obama). Any additional adverts and campaigning is done by third parties, which isn’t really that good but it shows which side has a more dedicated following. If McCain wins it will prove that money isn’t everything in electioneering and if Obama wins it will be the end of public financing of elections.
And yes, you’re right about the time being ripe for a third party. Tbh I’m surprised there isn’t a major third party candidate running this time but it’s too late now to get into the race. Had one come along late June they could have wiped the floor with both parties. It’s too late now as both parties seem to have rallied around their respective candidates. I doubt if they’ll get enough to challenge a major party but over the next decade the independents (which are traditionally democrat voters in disguise) may actually start to fight for their own beliefs instead of someone else’s.

Something else, there’s been ALOT of loonies out there that said whatever they wanted because they knew they wouldn’t make it past primaries (Ron Paul). Not to mention some of their ideals are historically dangerous (fortress America by Ron Paul). Do you really want this caliber of person on stage with people that you know will easily out-perform them?

Having glanced over both articles I can say that the original article was written by a flaming, coolaid drinking liberal with no regard for facts or the politics and history of the people Palin was attacking. I think her speech was written to arouse the Republican party into action and from what I read she used accurate facts to do so. That’s what makes the speeches of conservatives so effective, they use logic, reason, and FACTS against their opponents. In the first “rebutal” alone they repeated the same phrase like four times, definately nit-picking but I guess repetition is what makes them feel effective.
I personally can’t wait for the McCain/Obama and Palin/Biden debates. When that happens you’ll see one party wipe the floor with the other as only one of the parties picked candidates that have a clue.
Of course, I did vote for Bush in 2004 so that means I’m a retardedly blind citizen. Only time will tell.

personally, i think the server needs to go back to how it was run 2 years ago or 8 months ago. either go with the rotation, take off some maps and keep it simple… or go back to voting and provide a lot of maps to choose from.You mean how it was when the server rarely got above half full? Have you checked how often it maxes out now? The rotation does need tweaking and that’ll probably happen in the next few weeks but the map voting is probably never coming back.

the community is leaving… new people are coming, but i dont know if you’ve noticed… they are ALL under the age of 16. this is a server run by a college, when you push college kids away, it reflects on the server. its just not the same.The game itself is doing that. The big kids are moving to better games like CoD4.

Anyone know if their is a way to install the CD retail version so that it does not require a CD in the disk drive every frickin time you go to play the game, this would be my best bet.You don’t need the disc to play multiplayer.

Last I checked CoD4 was one of the most popular console games played online and to toss it out over a simple numbers game is stupid IMO.

If you were to read them it would surprise you at just how much control over the software they maintain after you purchase it. Valve and EA are really bad about this. This maintained control is why I try to never let a 3rd party program (Steam, EA Link) control my games unless there is no other alternative.
I do find interesting that Google would throw something like that in the EULA. As much time as they put into it they had to have known about the possessiveness of the license agreement. I have to wonder if that was put there on purpose, if you’ve been keeping up with some of the underhanded stuff Google’s been doing the last year or two it really shouldn’t surprise you.
The same system is what keeps employees from swiping consoles early too so it’s really not that bad. Would suck if Walmart employees grabbed all the PS3s an hour before launch.
