Ok, I’ve edited my list and I think this is a winner… tell me what you think.. this would be the base small rotation and then sk3 and deagle5 would alternate while italy, tides, nuke, and train alternates. This way regulars wouldn’t have to wait too long to get to their favorite fun map because one of them would come about with each rotation. There will be no stats on the fun maps to keep people from QQ’ing.

EDIT – For clarification: The last time we did this it completely and utterly killed the server. Like 0 regulars. We switched it back to rotation and it was semi-popular again in a month or so. Full a short time after that. Lemm can do this if he wants but I think I speak for all the alumni when I say it’s a bad idea.

if stats are the only thing that bother people about sk3 and deagle 5 we can run them both for 10 minutes at a time with no stats.. there shouldn’t be too many complaints about that
Well Hero hasn’t announced whether it will be me or Ex yet.. I think he’s planning on doing that later today.

I think its good to do a mixture of graphically demanding games and older games/games that aren’t graphically demanding.I would seriously suggest looking at playing games like Day of Defeat, Call of Duty (original), Counterstrike 1.6, Quake 3, etc as most any computer on campus can play them yet they are still good, fun, competitive games. I’m not taking away from games like CSS, L4d, TF2, etc cause I love those games but I think PC capabilities is what keeps a lot of people from playing them.
Oooo sounds fun .. I’d def be down for some vCoD, 1.6, and Quake 3… I wouldn’t be very good at any of them.. but I really used to play CoD and Quake 3 back in the day.

Also… in my opinion (and since no one seems to have thought of this or bothered to have mentioned it), perhaps the PC side is dying for another reason. Lack of community. I believe it will be proven if you guys still choose to “try new games” to see if it’ll fix anything. The PC community has looked fairly weak in comparison to the console side because of the difference in community strengths. I haven’t seen much of an effort from the PC side to go out and do things together as a collective group to encourage camaraderie and laid the foundation of a solid community. That’s what I did for the console side on the get go, and I credit that to being the primary contributor in why the console side exploded in size and continued to grow even after I stepped aside as the lead proponent.
Just throwing this out there, but it’s something for you to try. Try to organize some get-together events with your PC peeps. It may not be playing games, but movie nights, going out to eat, just hanging out, or whatever, should help start building the foundation needed to rebuild.
Sounds like he’s got some good ideas there…. but yeah with the lan go ahead and figure in some leeway time for things to go wrong or take a lot longer than they should… because it WILL happen. The best thing you can do is to start preparing for it.. get all the server configs together and test all of them now and about a week before the lan.
I have not tried the dosbox but I have around 130 wii games on my external hard drive.. including the new GH5 that just came out the other day.
I have every NES game that ever came out…. along with some SNES and Genesis games….
I can also play all online games FOR FREE… that’s right Nintendo doesn’t add on any BS charges for playing multiplayer on the internet
Wii is under rated…… but for the best experience it’s PC all the way
oooo gl with that.. that’s the only reason I haven’t bought gta 4 is because i don’t have a computer that can run it

I don’t think fun nights will work so well on the CSS server (at least not right now)…. The only reason they worked so well on the Gun Game server is because people wanted to play new and different things.. that’s not why they play CSS.
I would suggest to get the server populated first and then have some fun nights… Although there would be nothing wrong with a “Populate the CSS Server” event.

I’d like to point out that since Steam has it’s own messenger service, CS:S players usually don’t use Xfire and it’s still #4 on the list. I understand that the players on campus matter more, but this might make a difference.
Hmm… well I have been away for a while without internet and since the gg server has been down cus it crashes randomly. Never figured out what causes this one but it is pretty manageable if monitored. After I saw this thread I had internet for a week and a half and I played on the CSS server a bit and kept the gg off cus I figured we needed to get more people on css before we play some more gg.
Hopefully we can see something happen soon with the hardware, although if we don’t have the people playing on it it’s hard to justify it other than having a really f’in awesome setup lol.
I not saying we should permanently take down the gg server or l4d or tf2… but as far as i can see the CSS community was a lot stronger when it was 100 tick (and of course before everyone went home for summer). The way the l4d servers are set up they do not allow for much of a community presence other than late night scheduled games.
Anyway that’s my two cents. The meeting is what sept 3? so yeah without an internet connection I doubt I’ll be GG CL this time if we decide to keep it. Hell I might actually try to make a meeting even though it’s a long trip.

There is no more GG server so can’t we move it back up to 100 just to see how much of a difference it really does make?There is still a gg server, it just crashes pretty regularly and there hasn’t been anyone putting it back up. These are desparate times though.. in order to preserve the community and jump start WCU’s online gaming I don’t think this is such a bad idea. The only problem would be if it would interfere with the L4D and TF2 servers. The CSS server wasn’t moved down to 66 Tic just for Gun Game.
