So, I got GTA 4 over the weekend, and I’ve been pretty obsessed with it. Even though it runs pretty poorly on my computer(20fps at lowest settings), I’ve really enjoyed it.
Then, I saw a video of GTA4 on a higher end pc, and how it was smooth, and suddenly, I felt really… well… really sad.
My computer is a HP Pavilion dv5-1010us
Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Service Pack 1
4GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 9200M GS, 256mb
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.00 gHz
This same computer ran Crysis quite smoothly… Not CS:S smooth, but at a consistent 50-60fps, with resolution at 960×600, which is higher than what I’m running GTA4 on right now.
I personally think that the reason for this is because I turned down certain things in Crysis that I was unable to do in GTA4, namely, HDR/Bloom, Antialiasing, Filtering, etc…
Now, in GTA4, you’re only given 3 options: Resolution, Textures, and Rendering. Changing rendering doesn’t affect my computer’s resource usage much, though changing textures and resolution does.
What I would like to do, however, is to shut off bloom, and the various visual effects that GTA4 doesn’t like you touching.
Is this possible with a patch of some sort?
Thanks!
