However this goes, it still should only be a tempban expiring tonight. I have class from here in a minute at 8am until around 7:30pm with few breaks between and go straight to work after that, so I’ll check around 11pm. Your ban should lift by then unless you give us a reason to extend it.

I’s already confused the situation so much more by interpreting the facts before I got ’em all that this is just a mess.

I am writing rules in the near future on basic decency towards admins and other players if that’s an issue. I will also write up a dispute resolution policy. and I will go through the MOTD and rules AGAIN myself to make sure they reflect all the rules that I am currently aware of there being a need for. Liam will be informed of these (although I still don’t think he abused his powers), you are strongly encouraged to read the rules to the players, and are welcome to read the admin rules as well. When I finish the MOTD then everyone will be held accountable for reading them, whether they bother to or not.

Liam says it was harassment. i’m going to trust Liam on this one, and trust’s all I got since I wasn’t there. I would imagine you have in some form noticed him seeing things as harassment.

 

now for the extent of it, i told liam personally to go ahead and extend it when i saw you go straight for the “admin abuse” instead of a ban appeal. I need to lay that out in a rule on that, blame me for any dissatisfaction you have with that decision, but if you’re going to call out an admin for abuse of banhammer, at least start doing so with your appeal. Or if it’s like you’re calling it and an admin (in this case Liam) appears to be abusing admin, then is when you should go to irc, the forums, or otherwise contacting me or another admin, and call it out, instead of collecting a list. I’d be more than happy to jump in and watch under some alias, I’ve done it many times before when i hear there’s a player hacking.

 

now for where this will go: same process as always, the ban will be reviewed and you’ll hear when we decide on what to do about it.

my main thought is that in these tournaments I would rather only face techniques that can be logically deduced and/or were designed into the game. hell, i didn’t know the button for it and thus wasn’t even able to jump on SSBM, i didn’t complain about people that could. extrapolate that thought to the rest of the legitimate techniques. like one I saw, the people running over to the edge and intentionally falling off so they could hang on to it and prevent others from grabbing on if they were trying to recover from a fall. that made sense. that stuff I’m okay with. exploits are abusing sloppy programming and shouldn’t be used in a tournament with the intent of having a good time, which I think ours are

 

btw, at least in my match of the first round, i don’t think i saw any glitches, i just got my butt handed to me on a silver platter coz i was a noob

and my thoughts on exploits are this: if everyone is equally aware of them and equally alright with using them, then it’s all good fun, but when someone pulls an exploit off and the other guy has no clue that it was there, then that’s not good

i think where hd-dvd and blu-ray both shot themselves in the foot is going for the “exclusive” thing. Like, this kick-*edited* movie came on hd-dvd while that kick-*edited* movie came on blu-ray… people aren’t going to go buy both formats since it’s so ridiculously expensive to buy both types of players, and the movies still came on standard def dvds, so unless they already had hd-dvd or blu-ray players they bought them on standard def.

FINAL SETUP:

 

there’s going to be scoutzknivez as the warmup/nofail map.

 

de_dust2 will be the first pass/fail round.

 

cs_office will be the second pass/fail round.

 

if we need a third pass/fail round, we will play de_piranesi.

 

20 minute maps.

 

same damage modifiers as are currently in use.

 

teams decided by autoassign (as fair as I could possibly make it).

 

only kills matter.

 

top 50% +1 from winning team move on, top 50% -1 from losing team move on

 

single elim (double would take all morning at the rate some LAN’s have gone).

 

final match will be 1v1 for 5 rounds then teamswapped for another 5 rounds.

 

hacks if found will be dq’d and replaced with the next high score from previous round (shouldn’t be an issue).

 

although it is unfortunately quite possible, if you have a system crash at some point, your total as best we can sum it will be your final score. In all likelihood you will only be credited with the score you receive after rejoining.
