What do you need fixed? And yes, it’s fine where it is.

Everytime I go on to steam, my fps stays at 5~30 and never increases.

Okay — A few questions and then a few suggestions on this issue:

    Questions:

    1. What kind of video card do you have?

    2. What speed processor?

    3. How much memory?

    Suggestions:

    1. Go update your video drivers.

    2. Go update your motherboard drivers. (This is important!!!)

    3. Go update windows.

    4. Set your speed settings in steam to what your internet really is.

    5. Set your rates up correctly. (There is another thread in this discussion forum on how to do that.)

    6. Make sure that you have all the patches for your games in place.

    7. Turn off unneeded programs while gaming. These use cpu and ram to run. This takes away from your game.

    Lemme know. :)

Is this a new problem or an old one? When did this start happening? Hit me back on how much RAM what graphics card you have and what processor. I’m not worried about what you have updated just yet. Might also want to go to the video tab in options and turn some stuff down in “advanced”.

my friend updated #1 pretty sure the same bout #2 i can’t take a risk for #3 cuz i got the vista illegally…. #4 idk how to do that…. #5 & 6 i have done that but everytime i go back on it changes for some reason? and #7 It worked perfectly with other programs on like a couple months ago…

Kuros: Uh… this happened like a couple months ago… the other people in the server probably know when… the RAM is 2047 MB and the rest is up there? Im pretty sure that i updated steam. I try the suggestion mutiple times and it didn’t work…

What resolution and settings are you running? First place to start would be to completely uninstall your current graphics card drivers and then go download the latest forceware set from http://www.nvidia.com. Make sure you get the set FOR YOUR CARD. Don’t get 3rd party drivers because they can get you VAC’d.

So far as it changing your rates back, go put it in your client.cfg and set that file to read only so CSS can’t change it.

Nvidia drivers are in Programs and Features. You can remove it from there under control panel.

Your resolution for your cs:s is just in your options under video(in-game). the lower resolution, the better fps, but you do lose some pleasure as to the graphics. I even notice them in 1.6. I don’t play source, so I wouldn’t know about those rates. but how long does it take for yoru fps to start dropping?

Is there developer 1 in source? because he should still only be maxing at 100 fps. fps_max 100

I’m checking about developer 1 now. Yeah, ok, in your console. put in “developer 0” doing so doesn’t allow your fps to go above 100. You can’t notice a difference with anything above 100..at least not that I’ve noticed. I can go up to like 400 fps in 1.6 so..

rates, I’d assume this would be close. also in console. “cl_cmdrate 100” “cl_updaterate 100” “rate 25000” that should make your game run smoother as well. if I’m wrong, one of the 2 adam’s or liam will help ya out.

If you have more than 60 FPS just turn V-sync on. The picture will be better and will limit your video card to what you monitor can display.
