I walked around campus/dorms/community buildings looking for a flyer and could not locate even one. The first one i saw was teh Pink dan one that was at the sign in table. so it could be better. however as you said, numbers dont lie, 30 new ppl so alot was done right,, could still be improved just a little

There were two in the UC, one in the book store, two around the library, one in Dodson, two near the Cat’s Den, two near the Bell Tower, and a ton at the gaming desks. I asked the winner of the Soulcalibur tournament why he came to the LAN. He said he saw a flier with Street Fighter and Soul Calibur on it. Marketing was fine.

That’s supposed to imply that someone is telling the story from WAY in the future about Star Wars’ time. So to them, our time is like… ancient times.

I’ve heard that before. It’s kind of a stretch. Really, it would make more sense for it to occure in the past.

The only real issue i had with the entire lan was we needed to advertise it more. We need to start pulling our friends to the lans or something.

We advertised this LAN like mad. That’s why we had 30 more attendees this time than last time.

A lazer travels at the speed of light; a bullet travels at just over the spe of sound. Lazers are obviously a more affective weapon. The reason Jedis can stop a lazer with their lightsabers is because they use the Force to see it coming. A bullet would pose even less of a threat.

A couple of my friends from Japanese class showed up. I’ve known the guy who won the Soulcalibur tournament for about two years now and I had no idea he even played Soulcalibur. From now on, I’m going to call him Crash Dummy in class. I think the professor will get a kick out of that.

If anybody knows the names of the GoW2 runners-up, let me know. Also Felix, use the website’s gallery, right next to the arcade link.

Edit: the funniest thing about the above picture is that he was celebrating coming in second.

A gaffe is when a politician misspeaks in public, and so a bad joke can be a gaffe. Hillary Clinton once said Mahatma Ghandhi used to run a gas station. She had to appologize.

I don’t really care about this, but it’s clear that Obama is a bumbling mess when his script is removed.

Oh, and you’re right NuRayZ. Bush was retarded. That’s why he graduated from Harvard, became the Governor of Texas, then a two-term president.

    Two things:

    1. I’ve always been a little confused about is the deffinition of “furry.” Tell me if I’m close. What I was thinking is that a furry is someone who is very interested in (and in some cases attracted to) images of anthromorphized animals. The old notion that furries dress up like animals and grind against eachother is a misconception. I guess that some furries do that but it’s pretty rare. Furries occaisional dress up like animal-people, but that’s basically just cosplay with no sexual meanings. The folks who like to dress up and get all freaky are plushies, not furries.

    whats a furry?

Oh, man. This thread is gonna be tons of fun.

I used to think furries were flat-out weird, but in recent years I’ve softened my stance considerably. It’s not for me at all, but I can sorta kinda grasp the appeal a tiny bit. I still think its pretty unusual, but on the Grand Perversion Scale, its more or less harmless. Part of my change of heart is due to the fact that my interactions with furries have generally been more positive than my interactions with furry-bashers. For example, I’ve occaisionally played on a TF2 server run by furries. It’s actually really well-run and I’ve found the players friendly. True, the tags kind of disturb me, but I can ignore that if the gameplay is good. By contrast, the idiotic cavemen who hang out in the Communter Lounge bash furries all the time, and they are some of the most unlikable people I’ve ever met. So, I can tolerate furries. However, plushies are where I draw the *edited* line. Eww.

    In short: Best thread ever.

Adam Faukner is Webmaster. We had a meeting on Thursday where he was elected. I talked it over with Kaz-Ka and we agreed i would be best to hold off on posting the meeting minutes until some internal business was taken care of. It’ll be up soon.

I put up a bunch of fliers today. They look gorgeous. Something I’m a little concerned about is that, as far as I know, neither of our fliers advertise the PC tournaments.

It looks good, but it might be a good idea to have a second flier advertising the shooters.

It’s important to remember that the Republican Party and the conservative base operate independently. The base has been angry with the party leaders for quite a while now because it seems like the leaders have abandoned the base. That is why Steele had to apologize when he insulted Rush Limbaugh. It was like the leader of the RNC was attacking one of the key voices of conservatism. Not a very good way of endearing yourself to the base. When Steele took over, I thought he might help bring conservatives back to the leadership, but every time he talks I become more unsure about him. First he said we should endear ourselves to pro-choice people and now this.

I have nothing against Jindal, but I don’t know much about him. I’m really on the fence about Coulter.
