ParticipantWe tried cash prizes before. Unless I’m mistaken, it drained our treasury very quickly.

ParticipantNintendo didn’t care about online play until very, very recently. It kind of looks like they are trying to bring their online multiplayer (and graphics) up to 360/PS3 standards with the Wii U.

ParticipantI spent many, many hours arguing with Brawl-haters about the differences in the games. I truly don’t want to get involved with that again, but after reading Sakurai’s quote, it really doesn’t sound like he was confirming that he knew about wavedashing before Melee was released. Instead, it sounds like he’s saying his team found out about wavedashing before production began on Brawl, and they had no problem removing it, because appeasing competitive gamers was not a high priority for them. It actually sounds like he has a negative opinion of wavedashing.
Edit: I guess it depends on which game the ‘development period’ mentioned in the first sentence refers to. Regardless of whether or not it was intentional, it certainly sounds like he grew to dislike wavedashing, since he and his team were so confident in their decision to remove it from Brawl.

ParticipantMeh. I never really cared for competitive gaming. It sucks the fun right out of the games. I know we host tournaments, but I always got the feeling that most people were there for the fun of it.

ParticipantRoger Ebert on Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Quote:
The movie is an utterly meaningless waste of time. There was no reason to produce it, except to make money, and there is no reason to see it, except to spend money. It is a dead zone, a film without interest, wit, imagination or even entertaining violence and special effects… Parents: If you encounter teenagers who say they liked this movie, do not let them date your children.Best review ever!

so is Resident Evil (the first one- they kinda go to crap after that)
I’m afraid I have to agree with Mr. Ebert on this one.

ParticipantA good video game movie? Hmm. Well, I guess stranger things have happened.

ParticipantI don’t know how to feel about 3D. As a kid, I would occasionally see a 3D movie or something, and I was blown away by the way the characters would get up to my face and stuff. I even liked the 3D effects in the Virtual Boy. But now, whenever I see something in 3D, like the 3DS or demonstrations of 3D TVs in electronics stores, it just doesn’t impress me as much. While there is definatlry more of a sense of distance than in standard screens, it just isn’t the same. I don’t know if 3D just seemed more impressive as a kid, or if there is some technical explaination for why contemporary 3D isn’t as impressive as the 3D I remember as a kid.
Anyways, it seems like the 3DS will come out with one really good game every couple of months, which sounds… exactly like every other Nintendo console for the last decade or so.

ParticipantNow that I think about it, a four-piece orchestra would really bring some class to the LANs.
And maybe some wine and cheese.
Ephraim
ParticipantHmm, it sounds like it could be fun. The only thing that concerns me is noise polution. The LANs are already pretty noisy.

ParticipantHere’s how I would handle this:
-When contacting sponsors, use “WCU GAMING CLUB”
-On the forums, use “WCU GAMING CLUB”
-When signing official SGA-related papers, use “WHEE GAME”
-On the flyers, just say “THE GAMING CLUB”
-Hope SGA gets inundated with enough complaints from the various clubs that they change their mind and we can official change the name back.

A guide like that for every position would be really nice.
Hey, I have a fun idea. Let’s discuss who would write each guide. There’s no way that could turn into a flame war. Let’s start with the president…
