Its not dead, it will be back full in a few weeks. Laf at people who think its dying. I am always humored by CSS players that have been saying 1.6 is dying or is going to die. Its like they wish we were all forced to play CSS. Maybe they get lonely. I guess this is why people are baffled when it is so hard to populate servers built on new platforms like the hl2 and orange box engine.

the only variable that has changed over the years is the maps. And the way a person gets to those maps. Voting or Rotation. I think the most popular the server has ever been is when we did map voting, but the problem with that is we did d2 almost all day. That doesn’t bother me much, but i can see where it is a painful for you guys to play the same map over and over.
So then we can sit back and say .. more maps hurt the server? I think so.
– the average user plays less than an hour a day. That means they want to be the best at the game when they get on. Everyone is at their top of the game when they play d2. Everyone knows it. Everyone scrims it, Everyone plays it.
but you also have to look and say.. more maps help the community? I think so.
-yes we always want different when we put that many hours into something. I couldn’t play the same map over 2 hours. i would get really bored. Yes i have played many maps over 2 hours. HideNSeek, Vampire mod maps and Iceworld.
If you ask me should we go back to voting? I dont think we should unless we come up with some really complex plugin that will allow a map not to be played but a certain amount in the day and make sure they are spread out. Which we dont have the time or motivation to do.
The other option is to change the map rotation which has already been brought up. We are all searching for the perfect map rotation, and I can tell you what maps work for large server. I will try to order them in the most popular to the least.

notice that it is 10 maps in the rotation. That rotation is what got the server popular when we started this. I think it will make it popular if you apply it. Edit and watch it grow.
David you know im going to kidnap you on the way up there if you say your not coming. I would suggest telling your boss that you dont have a choice in this decision.
love the limewire photo in the picture. I missed the early posts on this but I am all for it. It would be IDEAL for fun night and possibly a place in the rotation. The question that you asked if we will host it is a no brainer. YES WE ARE GOING TO HOST IT. The question you really want to ask is will they play it, and none of us can predict it. If it causes bugs we will remove it and let you know in a bug topic here on the forums. Other than that its your design that will make this a success or failure.

I remember cursing at Tyler every time one restarted, because he had the password, but didn’t want to use it because it was against policy. I remember looking at Tyler for 3 mins after the first comp locked up and saying
*edited* this, *edited* you, and *edited* IT!
Dice, Do you remember going around the room and having everyone tell their handle and name. I remember one time I even asked for a few people’s major. I also called out the people that we had banned or are currently suspended. Nobody ever complained about the hour that was taken out for that time.

It’s because of the 32 man server…this happens on any 32 man server, just like the spec glitch. The only way to fix it is to reduce the number of slots on the server. Get over it.Reducing the slots by 1 is worth the fix in my opinion.

Good job man. I know i annoy the *edited* out of you, but your doing a GREAT job.
Acidak if you want to play a different map then vote to have it added to the rotation. But the way that the votemap plugins are wrote just doesn’t fit the gaming model.
