Just a comment: anyone else think it’s weird that Nvidia has been so quiet about this? Normally when ATI gets an earlier launch, Nvidia is right there with at least an announcement about an upcoming card or something… I read the other day that the GT300 core for nvidia was having really low yeilds; wonder if they are running behind schedule or something?
This is looking more and more like how things were years ago when ATI beat nvidia to the punch with the radeon 9700 (first DX9 card)…
in b4 another FX5800-style launch from nvidia.

first, the motherboard I posted only has 2 reviews… kinda hard to say you aren’t liking the reviews when 1 was a 5 egg and the other was a 1 egg DOA.
second, the motherboard you posted uses an AMD chipset… those don’t support SLI either, sorry.

plus the original power supply you had chosen. This option is $70 more but definitely worth it.
Also if you plan to use your computer for gaming, don’t bother upgrading if you aren’t going to upgrade your video card. Video card is #1 most important upgrade for gaming. I would suggest, depending on budget, to get like a radeon 4850 or something like that because 1) they are pretty cheap, only about $100 and can play most every game on high settings and 2) both the motherboard you posted and the one I suggested support crossfire, so it would be easy to add a second card later for that.
As for hard drive, buy a western digital black series drive. Speed and reliability cannot be beaten.
Also I should note that if the 480W power supply you have now is a quality power supply, you likely can hold off on upgrading that; using the extreme power supply calculator, the i5, ram, motherboard, 1 radeon 4850, 2 sata hard drives and 2 dvd burners only requires a 285W power supply, using the phenom requires 311W, so your 480W should work fine

If you want to use Fedora, but don’t like the developmental software, try CentOS. It is basically RedHat without all the RedHat network package and support built in. Lots of places use it as a very stable and solid platform. My web host uses it for all their services and Metrostat uses it as well.

I think somewhere around midseason last year the Panthers forgot how to defend- both on offense and defense. Luckily their running game was so good last year it didn’t matter. But if you look back to the season opener against philly you will notice that Delhomme was hurried, flushed and/or sacked nearly every play. Great defense by the eagles or just a terrible job protecting the QB by the Panthers? Probably a bit of both but a guy like Delhomme, who clearly is not a superstar and will never be a Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Drew Brees, needs extra time in the pocket to line up the good shots or he will (and does) throw like crap. Give him the extra time and he’s at least decent.

you know the other day I read this hilarious editorial on espn that basically said Delhomme threw the first game of the season so that all the panthers fans that were already pretty leary of him would just switch to completely hating him, thus driving down any expectations that he would do good and basically take off any pressure he has to do good.

You both do realize that Delhomme was not the reason the Panthers lost Sunday right? Their defense was TERRIBLE. Delhomme threw for over 300 yards… still doesn’t make up for the 2 prior games but this time it wasnt his fault.
Also they aren’t going to get rid of him Their backups are terrible and they just resigned him for 5 years with 20 million guaranteed… they will make sure they get their money’s worth.
so I missed the bus this morning… GG Nickname.
oh well looks like I get to stay late today to make up the time… lol.

well for vista you really want at least dual core and 2gb ram, like i said, windows 7 runs on a smaller footprint. MasterP ran win 7 pro fine on his netbook (1.6ghz atom, 1gb ram, 160gb hdd) and said it was definitely fast enough to be usable. So yeah I mean any power user will want a dual or quad core with lots of ram but its not really necessary to run win 7.
well vista really needs more resources to run than windows 7… As long as you have at least 1gb ram you should be fine with windows 7.

I am cheap and use a plantronics I got for $13 lolz. Actually its pretty good I like it. Like I said, depends on how much you want to spend.
Personally dont find the edimensionals very comfortable, but thats probably cause I have dumbo-sized ears…
it really depends on how much you want to spend. I think plantronics is really good on the lower end of the budget and sennheiser is really good on the upper end. Either would be a solid choice.
To give you an idea of plantronics vs sennheiser, this was in a review of the plantronics 367 headset: “Anyway – it may not be Sennheisers, but they are pretty good.” So… Sennheiser is basically the benchmark that other headsets are put up against. Just FYI.
