Bitey you like completely derailed this thread, talking about CEOs and student loans. Open another rant thread and vent in there. You just completely let Nurayz off the hook and that *edited*es me off more than your textbook liberal targetting of the rich.

let me off the hook? were you enjoying trying to pummel me down to nothing like you always attempt to do in these threads? *edited*ed that someone may actually have a different viewpoint than yours? Amazed that my response was composed of all questions? Am i awesome or what?!

but let’s get back to the topic at hand. Cadillac high premium plans. And go read again dude, they tax after 8500, or 23,000 for families. If you don’t hit that mark with your insurance plan, you don’t get taxed. hell technically you don’t get taxed anyway, your insurance company or business does. but anyway, These high premium plans are ridiculous. they pay maybe a little more than the average american, and get *edited*load in return. Detuctables? laugh. 0 detuctables, copays averaging 10 dollars, anything you can imagine paid for (acu *edited*ing puncture, message therapy, even TANNING?!). And yet you have a problem with taxing that kind of luxury? that more people can have health insurance now, but because we are taxing luxury bull*edited* it’s wrong?

the average american (who gets insurance through their employer) has 699 dollar detuctables, an average of 20 dollar copays, and can’t get covered for a *edited*ing cough. Spreading the wealth health around isn’t that bad of an idea man. Besides, their Cadillac premiums may go up 1,000 dollars annually, or maybe their deductible goes up from 10 to 30.

You’re new avatar? It looks like the old one, and yes we would all like to win the lottery…

It is the big companies that I am raging about, so if it less than 300 people, that means we have 300 people in the US each making over 1 million dollars a year. Yeah it definitely is ridiculous, but the sad thing is simply by taking down that one person’s salary you can “create new jobs” for 30-50 more people. Simple fact is that no one person should be making that much money, UNLESS they win the lottery heh.. And then it is a one time payment.

However when you have the board and CEO of a company making 600% more than their employees that tells me that they are probably paying their employees about 10/hr.

    That would mean the CEO makes 70/hr * 40 hr/wk * 52 wk/yr = 145600/yr, which is actually very modest for a CEO.

Just throwing this out, Jamarcus Russell made $39 million for being a crappy NFL QB and getting cut after 3 seasons. It would take said hypothetical CEO over 300 years to make that much money on his hypothetical salary.

i believe it’s 600% more than their employees combined. hypothetically speaking, your CEO only has one dude employed lol. bring that number up to about 50 and yeah, he makes a *edited*load.

i don’t think all rich people are evil. I know a millionaire, who started a glass/window company from scratch. He did small repair jobs around Houston at first. My aunt directs an office management company which manages a couple office buildings downtown. After the hurricane a few years back (Ike i think), he placed a bid on a million dollar job (20 story building, replaced all windows with hurricane resistant ones) and landed it. Made his first million. He is definitely a hard working man, and deserves every penny, and is extremely gracious too. pays all his workers graciously, and full benefits. He even rents them places to stay when they are *edited* out of luck (one of his employees got thrown out by his wife lol). Another employee had 4 DWI’s and he bought the best lawyer for him and got them all whiped from history. He’s an extremely loyal, rich, gracious man. I’m pretty sure there are more guys like him, but most richies aren’t that cool.

dude this tax will affect me and I make a measly $43k supporting me and my wife and her thousands of dollars in student loan debt.

Adding the cost of the insurance to gross income hurts the unwealthy more than the wealthy. For instance, adding $5000 to the income of someone making $50k is a 10% increase, while adding $5000 to someone making $500k is only a 1% increase. Guess who is hurting more from this tax?

Hate to say it but MP was right on this one.

    Quote:

Section 9001 consists of an excise tax on “Cadillac” health plans. It goes on to explain how tax increases will be done to cover this new plan that the government wants to impose. Basically stating that if you have provided your family with the very best in health coverage you get to be taxed extra. This tax is not very lenient either; they want to impose a 40 percent tax on the portion of insurance premiums exceeding $8,500 a year for individuals and $23,000 a year for family plans.

you have to pay more than 165 dollars a week as an individual or 450 as a family to even be considered for this tax. Its a tax on high-premium insurance plans, the big GOLD and PLATINUM plans. you won’t be touched nickname. the only people who can afford those retarded plans are the uber rich. I say tax away.

inb4 this was a chain email to scare the american people. Definitely taken out of context.

“go look at the bill….I like how the email doesn’t include all the details… like if youre on a individual plan anything that the COMPANY pays that is over $8500 is taxed… (yes the company not the individual)…I don’t know about you but my company’s portion is nowhere near $8500 and if you on a family plan anything over $23000 is then tax.

If it’s cheaper and easier to get to the refinery, it is by definition cheaper to the consumer.

    NuRayZ said:

    Quicker clean up time?

If not for the extreme depth the original attempt to fix it would have worked. If not for the extreme distance from shore the backup container could have been deployed days, maybe weeks, sooner. That means less oil leaked so yeah, quicker cleanup time.

    NuRayZ said:

bull*edited*, the only difference would be… the amount of money it is taking BP to clean up the mess.

So it costs BP less to clean up yet the quantity of leaked oil and time required to clean it up doesn’t change? Your math doesn’t make sense.

    NuRayZ said:

A day or two less of thousands and thousands of gallons of oil spilling on the coast would make absolutely little difference to the impact

Day or two? Try month or two before it’s over with. This whole ordeal could have been over May 7 but the water was too deep and cold for a well head to be properly deployed.

The typical liberal response: they make money so they’re evil. Here’s a wakeup call, those “record breaking profits” you always hear about, yeah that’s before taxes and operating costs. In 2009 BP had a net income of $16.58 billion. That’s about a 6% profit margin. That’s less than pharmaceuticals, banks, telecomm, and food distributors. No one ever bashes ConAgra, Harris Teeter, or Ingles for their industry high profit margins…

anyway, we are arguing about the wrong thing. Business ethics should be upholded at some point, including equal rights to everyone. Private businesses have no right to refuse for race, but they still can for anything else. why is that a problem? Unfortunately if you believe private businesses should have the right to refuse anyone for any reason (including race), well you are unfortunately *edited*ed.

Yes, it would make the same public headlines as when churches were being burned right and left in Flordia years ago. None. A brief mention and then back to commercials. FBI wasn’t even involved if I remember correctly…

Let’s talk double standard. 11 churches were burned in a 150 mile area in Texas between Jan 1 and Feb 8, 2010. Did that make the media headlines? No. Were the FBI involved? No.

So a bomb that does little or no real damage to a mosque gets you up in arms but burning whole churches down doesn’t even phase you? And you call me the racist prick?

i didn’t mean you, i meant a racist prick who would say something like that. The fact that you said something similar is one thing, but a racist prick i called you not. :)

also, were any of those churches populated? Buildings burn a lot more than blow up. If it was Arson, and it was an attempt during service, by a guy named muhammed, then yes it would definitely have made the news.

There’s no reporting because there’s no evidence of anything. At all.

All they have is an “explosion”, the strength of which or magnitude has never been said and pictures of the damage never shown, a video of some random white guy that’s too blurry to do anything with, and “remnants of a pipebomb” which could be or mean anything.

There are no facts here and certainly nothing substantial enough to make an arrest on. If they do get a tip on who this was they *edited* well better hope he still has evidence in his house because if he doesn’t they’ll arrest him and hang him on the international media gallows but have zero evidence to convict him on.

Also, just watched the video again and the shot of him walking around “behind” the building is interesting. In the news report they said the recording was “taken at the mosque that shows a potential suspect walking in the area where the bomb exploded and close to the time the blast occurred” yet the lighting in the video is NOT from anywhere near 9:35PM in Florida. Maybe more like 6pm but there’s way too much ambient light for it to be recorded that late in the evening.
