Not sure how the 1.6 idle-kicker works but it may slip your name into a temp ban file (1-2 mins) to prevent auto-rejoining. Some Source servers have a setup like that.
Try going window mode instead of doing a full alt-tab.

You shouldn’t have to coordinate the entire team to win in a pub. By the time you do that you might as well go ahead and all get on TS to guarantee the win.
I also believe Kuros doesn’t allow air strafing. I usually slay/kick/ban for it irregardless of what the MotD says but if he puts his rubber stamp on it I’ll ignore it.

True, arguing with admins is against the rules but it is NOT against the rules to ask why an action was taken against you or explain why said action didn’t violate the rules. When an admin refuses or ignores a request like this the only result is going to be arguing, it happens every time. Next time tell him you’ll discuss it on IM or PM and ask that he drop it until then. Yelling and cussing in admin chat is not the way to get what you want, unless what you want is another admin to kick you. That sort of behavior, as I said before, makes our servers look bad.

Comcast works the same way as Time Warner, you have to call and complain to get anything done. TW will reduce bandwidth over a line and see how much they can get away with before people start calling in.
Go to http://www.pcpitstop.com and do speed and packet-loss tests. If either aren’t what you have been promised call and complain. If they give you the loop remind them that you are the paying customer and can call the FCC and file reports of them not fulfilling promised services to customers. If they have a monopoly on service in the area then that will be an extra kick to the groin because utilities that have monopolies on service in an area are held to a higher standard than those that have to compete.

I didn’t say the box couldn’t handle the load but if we get much bigger it’ll get close. A 500 watt computer draws 4.2 Amps under full load. So you figure the box will run ~71 computers. We need to have a cable for every 2 tables which means we need about 12-16 of the standard orange extension cables.
I doubt FM has high-amp cables just because they don’t have any need for them. We need to ask them if we can use more of the ones they have or see if they will buy a set of high-amps to replace them with. I know the money for it is sitting around somewhere, we just have to find who has it.
If FM doesn’t want to play ball we can try asking ResLife or the UC since we DO need them if we intend to grow.
Dice, I gave Kuros the estimated amount of current we were drawing across each drop cord at the last LAN. Needless to say it was well over the safe limit. High amp rated cables are expensive but we if we continue to use the current scheme we are going to have to use them.
We might get futher if we let the UC know that we are going to need more cables to spread the load or better cables to handle the load.
Also, it might be in the club’s best interest to look at getting a good power tester to rate the AC from the outlet before we plug any computers up. As it stands now, if someone’s computer gets fried, and they got a good lawyer, the club would be paying for any non-warrantied parts. Easy fix for this is a disclaimer as Adam mentioned earlier but fried supplies isn’t a reputation we need pinned on the club.
I’ll get prices and send them to Kuros for debate at the next meeting.

The guys that brought the switches and troubleshooted the TCP/IP did a great job considering the problem wasn’t anything they could easily fix from there. The power should have been on yesterday and maintenance needs to be REAMED for losing our ticket. Lets face it, had they done their job and turned the power on when they were supposed to we would have had much less boredom right from the start because we can’t do ANYTHING until they get around to turning us on.
Next is networking. I hate to complain about them but we need to get them there at 11am next time and have all the kinks worked out before the entire PC group is set up and bored to tears. There is no reason why we shouldn’t be gaming 2 hours after sign-ins start.
I think the lan go off to a crappy start but got much better once we started the tournies up. I have to agree with Nickname though because I was also 11-0 on the first CSS run, pick a map and stay with it. Also, restarting because people aren’t in is just BS, I came in halfway through the first map of DOD:S and won the thing so it doesn’t hurt to miss a few rounds.
No arguement with that here. As soon as they took my adverts down I put them right back up. The problem is that some RAs take their job WAY too seriously and are nit-picky about everything. Of course, those same RAs will let the beer party go until 4am without a comment made.
I think the only hinderance with spamming them everywhere is that we are fairly limited on how many copies we get (can’t remember how many). We can go out of our way and buy a crap-ton more copies next time but in reality we shouldn’t have to.

I suggested earlier that if the flyers aren’t being properly put up in the dorms then they be put up instead around the colleges.You know most people live on campus so putting them in dorms is a guarantee that they’ll be seen. You have to put up many more if you want to spam the academic buildings and you still won’t get as many views. If you put them on all the entrances to the dorms you’re guaranteed to get tons of views.
Also, keep in mind that the RA staff is different than it was when you were here and they have since created policies against posting in public spaces. They got *edited*ed at us for putting up ITS job application advertisements in the dorms and most of the ones I put up were gone within 24 hours. Something about a “fire hazard”.
It’s not ALWAYS the current administration’s fault.

You might try swapping out for high quality splitters but that probably won’t help much.
Also, keep complaining. You are paying them for a service they aren’t delivering on and you have the right to complain. Next time the signal drops call them, they’ll check the signal strength on your modem remotely and say something like “Well it seems were having signal issues in your area. We’ll fix that as soon as possible”. ASAP for cable is usually a couple days so just keep on them until it’s fixed.

I haven’t seen a single poster yet but KNOW they were put up because I saw people doing it. The RAs and Aramark ppl took them down, plain and simple. Nothing can really be done at this point but hope word got out before they were taken down.
