go buy vista 64./thread
Don’t even need to buy another copy for some. Vista Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate can install 64-bit with the 32-bit keys.
MasterP
ParticipantThe best way (and IMO only real way) to run a checkdisk is offline through an install disc. Vista and XP both have the option to run chkdsk from their install discs.
XP:
Boot to any XP install disc
At the first screen hit “r” to enter Repair Mode
Type number associated with Windows install
Type password for admin account (default is none)
type “chkdsk c: /r /f”
When it’s done, reboot.
Vista:
Boot to any Vista install disc
At the first screen click Next
Click Repair your computer
Select the OS and click Next
Cancel any automatic repairs
At the recovery menu, click Command Prompt
Type “chkdsk c: /r /f /x” (note that the /x allows you to force the volume to dismount when it’s not running an OS)
When it’s done, reboot.
Even if you have XP installed, if you can get your hands on a Vista install disc use it for ANY repairs or offline changes you need to make. Vista may suck at repairing itself but it’s command prompt is almost magical.

thats it?That’s all a 32-bit OS knows how to use. The limit of 32-bit is 2^32 of memory.
There are some rare exceptions to this but none that regular desktops can take advantage of.
MasterP
ParticipantIt should still read all 4 GB in the system properties tab but any memory usage tool will only show whats left open after the video card, sound card, chipset, and processor allocate their memory.
MasterP
ParticipantI’ll look into it.
ADD: Past Execs have the same posting and viewing permissions as a standard member in that section. As I can see why this was done I’ll need permission before changing it.

because I don’t run IE at all.Yeah but it should be a mandatory update in Windows Update. Now those you should be doing on a regular basis.
So much in Windows is integrated with IE it’s stupid not to keep it updated. Just because you don’t use it doesn’t mean that you aren’t vulnerable to security flaws with it.

Wait… you can kill her with auto-pump-shotty without getting incapacitated? Wut?I always die to her, and somehow she always gets *edited*ed off at me from a mile away =(
You can sneak up behind her and 1 shot her with the autoshotty. The ultimate headshot! but if you miss she’ll turn around and slap you.
That’s actually an achievement.

ParticipantThanks for reminding me. I’ll get on configuring this server over the weekend.
It may go down for a few days. If so, don’t worry, it’s not permanent.

There are places in Galveston that still dont have power from Ike. That was in Spetember. Is that from infrastructure or generation? I know Texas has focused their generation towards renewables and they take much longer to bring back up than traditional coal and nuclear. Nuclear plants are practically indestructable.

basically we need a new person to code this stuff.. and however trivial it also has to be approved by master pIt’s oftly redundant but combining them is fine with me. It would need to be something like “next” so that the other two commands can still be used independently.

how much money do they lose when Harris and Galveston county are without power for a month. Thats a lot of homes without the meter wheel turning…A month? Not likely.
Anyways, less than 30% of their profits come from residential areas.

Actually, if you read the previous comments by those in Texas and Louisiana (or even mine; it’s the part you deleted), you’ll see we were talking about the south.Don’t call me retarded, plzkthx.
By the way, in NJ, it’s very spring-like. Today was probably around 60ºF. I walked around in a light hoodie, jeans, and flip-flops.
My comment was directed at your belief in something they have yet to come close to proving.
As to temperature shifting and weirdness, it’s nothing that hasn’t happened before. All throughout the 20th century the kook media shifted between global warming and global cooling to try to push whatever agenda suited them at the time. If you’ll go back and look you’ll actually be surprised at how often this stuff seems to repeat itself.
Even now FDR’s New Deal is about to be reborn.

It would pay for itself after a few stormsYou’ve never seen a power company’s maintenance and emergency repair budget
But when you figure in secondary costs such as tearing down and disposing of power poles, tearing up people’s driveways, getting permits of city limits work, buying digging equipment, buying new line, replacing the entire service fleet. It’s really not worth the added cost.

He’s blaming the erratic weather, like snow in places that are normally hot, on global warming.I’ve been telling people the same thing. I also blame global warming.
Is it really that uncommon to have snow in the northeast in December? Come on quit being retarded.
Global warming was invented to make Al Gore rich. His movie is so inaccurate that the Brits won’t even allow it to be showed in their schools. The sooner people quit listening to him, the better off we’ll all be.

ParticipantAllowing it in CS1.6 would make it much harder to keep it out of Source. That exact argument has been made before.
The problem with CAL’s stance is that it is a typical CAL stance. They would rather allow something they know is controversial and tack on “so long as they aren’t cheating to do it” than flat out ban something. The problem is you can’t tell the difference between someone who’s legitimately good at it and a scripter, and of course the script kiddie is going to say he’s doing it without cheating. That leaves the admin in a precarious position, having to second guess himself on whether or not to kick someone, knowing full well he’s probably cheating.

I am glad I looked at the dad and the little girl first. You know your a pervert if that is the last thing you see in the picture.
I know lol
I had to look around to find the real point of the picture. My first thought was “why would they post a pic of a little girl?”
MasterP
ParticipantIf you stare at that picture long enough you might see a dad and his little girl.

can i please have someone like liam or master p discuss this with me privately? message me for my AIMIt’s up to Major, he runs the CS1.6 server. I only argue the point here because allowing it in one server pretty much forces it to be allowed in all servers.

lol i was being the voice of Connecticut there…. we have power outages CONSTANT from September to March because of trees falling everywhereI know. You yankees are the only ones who care enough about it to actually sue over it.
Duke had lots of problems with Ohio until that wind storm a few months back pretty much took down every tree Duke had previously tagged but couldn’t touch. Interesting how that sort of thing works out in the end. (lol)

ParticipantMajorMajorMajor said:
nah *edited* that….. its destroys the tress natural beauty and makes the lopsidedIf they are allowed to cut freely there wouldn’t be nearly as many outages. When I worked for Duke Energy I tagged trees to cut a few times a week. It’s not something we like to do but it’s much better than answering the phone when you call about a power outage. Then again, we’ve automated that
