Reason you should be the CL: So, first I would like to thank the executives for allowing me to be CL this past semester. I’ve learned a lot from all of you, and feel like I’ve gotten to know you all better and have enjoyed my time with all of you.
I had to come to a decision in the past few days whether or not I should rerun for CL again. On one hand, I felt frustrated with how the vision I had for the server did not come out as I planed, nor did I perform as best as I felt I should have, but on the other hand, I loved every second of being a CL, from being able to help everyone out, to seeing old members come back and play, and even converting CS:S admins to 1.6 (albeit just for a day or two) The only thing that prevented me from reapplying until now was that I felt that because I did not perform my best for the job required and was wondering if I should let someone else try their hand at a job that I discovered to be harder than I imagined. The more I thought about it though, the more I realized that I could improve upon the mistakes I made, and continue to help the community grow.
My only issue for this upcoming semester will be that my class load has increased greatly since last semester and that needs to be my main priority (as much as I wish gaming could be). If you all choose me again for CL, I will require help on some days that are heavy workloads, but you guys have been most helpful this past semester, so I do not see why that won’t continue. J I promise to give my hardest for this community that I’ve grown to love and if reelected I will help the community grow and stay strong.
Thank you for reading,
Pete Townsend

Reason you should be the CL: I have been the council leader for 1.6 twice before. I have also been with the club since the start. I know the ends and outs of the club and what the community likes and I consider myself a good admin and have always enforced the rules and policy. One advantage that i have is that I am on-campus. I have more time now to focus on being CL since before I was bogged down with classes.

Hours Played: Online Time 85:27:18 .. if that is just 85 hours it is BS because I have been fraggin on this server since aug 2006 and before.
Reason you should be the CL: Well to begin, I have been a member since August 26, 2006. I have played 1.6 for over 4 years and as a player have competed in online leagues, and one lan event for the majority of this time. I have been an admin at wcu for the 1.6 server since august 26 2006. I have been to a lan at WCU, I have met kuros adambomb and a bunch of other people from wcu in real life. I know at times I have been a hassle for the higher ups but I always have the best intentions for the 1.6 players/admins whenever i give my input. I feel I have a lot of ideas to attract new players and grow the community through use of the server and website. I am extremely active and easy to get a hold of. This semester I have the time to invest in the CL position and want to do it. If there is anything else please let me know.- Ross

Would it be possible to change the start point of the rotation like once a week, because I(and others) often get on to play at the same time every few days, and we end up playing the same maps, not that I am truely complaining here since it happens to be my favorite maps on the rotation, but still…just a thought…I would have to change the rotation every time and reset the server to change the startmap but it’s possible.

If you want to run for office as a republican or democrat , you pay a small fee and they throw your name up on the ballot (I am referring to smaller, local offices obviously). If you are running as a third party its not that easy. You have to (a) pay a larger feeThe fee is the same, the party subsidizes most of it. Not their fault.

get petitions from a large number of voters just to get your name on the ballots. It’s the same number of petitions for all candidates. I signed a petition to get Bush on the ballot in 2004. Larger parties have a stronger grassroots base so it’s easier to get the signatures but it’s not biased.
Nickname said:
As for presidential candidates, they can’t get invited to participate in the debates unless they have something like 10% of the popular vote already… and if they cant get on the debate they really dont stand a chance. If we let every crackpot with 1% of the vote on stage we’d never get anywhere. Plus someone would have to dress up like Darth Vader or Washington because they both get a good number of write ins.
Nickname said:
The system is setup to favor the red or blue even though probably 40% of americans fall somewhere in between. That’s because neither party has a real base anymore, they both try to cater to everyone and in the process please no one. I don’t consider myself a republican because almost none of the candidates this last run represented any of my ideals. That doesn’t mean I would have voted for Ron Paul or Darth Vader because their ideals are MILES away from mine. You don’t have to cater to not have relatively radical ideals.
Nickname said:
Also, if you think all the third parties are “narrowly tailored to the interests of a single issue”, I suggest you take a look at the Libertarian and Constitution party platforms, they are much more robust than the Republican or Democratic party platforms.I stand by my claim. I’ll even throw out an arbitrary predication that 90% of the parties are narrowly tailored. Prove me wrong in a seperate debate.
Back to the topic: This guy shouldn’t have been fired. It was wrong. Obama should have been focusing on hiring people that paid their taxes instead of axing competant employees.

anti-everything ideals. It’s never about the Constitution.
Maybe I should have mentioned the candidate can’t be a nutjob.

ParticipantNebs said:
Maybe, but many of them also have more than 2 that actually have a shot at being elected. Our system of parties is complete bs.If our 3rd parties weren’t narrowly tailored to the interests of a single issue they would be able to compete. It’s not BS, people don’t vote solely for tree hugging or “independent”/anti-everything ideals. They vote for the party that represents them best, minus a few minorities who vote for their interests but that’s a different issue.
MasterP
ParticipantBtw, regardless of how harsh my posts on this subject have been or will be I don’t blame you. This should have been scheduled long before you took office.
There was a debate on this last summer that turned pretty ugly (lol?). You might want to read it as it has the pros and cons and the argumentation for both already laid out.
Just go talk to whoever is in charge of reservations and get something. Having a LAN in march would already put us behind on planning for a 2nd LAN in April. If that’s the only alternative so be it but try to avoid it if at all possible.

you can’t just give up party politics. As much as you may hate it, its so deeply woven into our governments way of doing things that is would never ever happen.Every government on the planet that has real elections has at least 2 major parties. It’s not just a US thing.
MasterP
ParticipantHow about instead of voting we just go get something done. Kaz-ka needs to go talk to whoever TOMORROW and get us a room. We are dangerously close to not having a place to hold this event. We’re already out of *good places.
And as before I think the Cat’s Den is an absolutely terrible idea but unlike before, we’re out of alternatives.
MasterP
ParticipantThe current rotation is in the sticky.

Yeah I wouldn’t want to live there either. But technically its working, just not inline with our ways.People shouldn’t be afraid of their government. It’s the government who should be afraid of the people.
