Participantthe CS server sholdn’t be having any ip conflcts a) it works fine with computers on campus and
the ip address is a statically assigned IP in a reserved subnet, so even if someone has it set manually, they won’t be able to go anywhere and the server should be un-affected.jelleyman

Participantok, server’s back up, don’t get your knickers in a twist…

ParticipantThis might take a smidge longer than 30 minuets becasue there were several security patches to install also. once they have completed I’ll take the box down and install the ram. I’ll keep everyone posted.

ParticipantOk. looks like there might be an issue that is originating in Harrill Hall. The bad part about Harrill having issues is that Albright-Benton, Reynolds, Robertson, Madison and Buchanan currently trace back through Harrill so the connections in all of these halls are having issues currently. Hopefully some resolution will occur shortly but I’ll keep you updated as much as i can.

Participantahh the classics, Duke Nukem 3d, Quake, Wolfenstein, and the original Doom.

Participantfair enough, I was just wondering if there were any other xboxlive games that were having network issues, but I’ll look into it.
thanks again.
jelleyman
ParticipantInteresting. What games are you having problems with? I’ll need to know as many details as you can give me in order to resolve the issue.
Thanks.

ParticipantOk, sorry i was out last week, but all work and no play makes AJ a dull boy you know…
anyway, is anyone still having issues On Campus? please let me know.
jelleyman
ParticipantI was just being silly really. Other than our resident 13 year-old no one has been ingrateful.
jelleyman
ParticipantIts possible that our packetshaper might be classing your traffic wrong.
We tried to update the firmware thursday night, however it did not take. Once the update is succesful (sometime next week) you should hopefully be able to play more consistantly.
Unfortunatly I’ll be on vaction next week so if it does not work you will have to talk to Jason LaVigne in IT services if things have not improved by Wednesday.

ParticipantThanks. Anyone else care to chime in?
jelleyman
ParticipantInteresting link. Thanks.
jelleyman
ParticipantI’ve got a couple of questions for you:
1) Are you on the WCU campus?
2) Are you using a router, switch, hub or just the single connection from your wall to connect the compter/xbox
3) How long has this been an issue, was it recently or since the start of school?
The more information you provide would be helpful in diagnosing your issue.
Thanks.

this gaming club is alot of fun and as you see im one of the most active on the forums and in the server. but i wouldnt go to a school just because of a club like this it would also need to have the right classes for me, because i dont think you guys would pay for college for me and for everything i need.

very good points… so is it safe to assume that if the classes/degree options were there, then a game club or game server would persuade you over a different school that didn’t have either?

4GB is the maximum a 32-bit processor and/or OS can address so you wouldn’t notice the extra 2GB unless you got a 64-bit processor AND 64-bit OS. WinXP 64-bit isn’t stable enough right now to be worth maxing out your system.

Good thing we’re using the ram on a server class machine (hp Proliant DL360), with 2 64 bit processors (AMD Opteron 250’s) and windows server 2003 (which supports multiple 64 bit processors)

ParticipantI may still be around… but that will all depend on what my salary will be at that time.

ParticipantHey Adam, I think that would be consdered cruelty to animals

Participantyou could always tell them you’re scoping out college possibilties.. after all, its only 5 years away before you go to college…. geez… that means you were born in 1993… one year before I graduated from high school… *edited*.
