SpectatorYes it’s possible but I’d clear it through the UC staff first.
MasterP
SpectatorI appreciate it. I’ve sent him several PMs about various server issues over the last few months but he hasn’t visited the forums in over 6 months.
MasterP
SpectatorNot to derail but can someone get felix to post up rules and server config requests for the PC side?
MasterP
SpectatorIt’s not.
But it should be.

How exactly did the thread on facebook degenerate?
Idiots were being idiots and the club embarrased itself in front of a major sponsor.
That’s probably why it was deleted as well.

single player expansion.
I swear I saw that in the game’s description…
MasterP
SpectatorAs I said on facebook before it degenerated, there are a number of other clubs, teams, and groups on campus that are refusing to change their names to remove the WCU reference. You have more pull with the university than all of them, combined.
This should not have happened and can still be undone, but you have to want to do it.

I understand the reasoning behind the name change but frankly I prefer the old name as well, plus we have over 6 years of advertising with said name. While i was up last night thinking of adevertisment stuff and Whee Game just doesnt say anything, You dont know its a club, You dont know where it is, and you frankly dont know what its purpose is. Im sure there some sort of grandfather mandate we could use, and further more state how this name change hurts our presence on campus and our ability to advertise outside of campus.
If this board had it I’d totally be +rep’ing that.

Hope SGA gets inundated with enough complaints from the various clubs that they change their mind and we can official change the name back.
For that to happen the other clubs would have to care enough to comply with or challenge the namechange “mandate.” From what I can tell, the other clubs are simply ignoring it.
On the official paperwork, sure, comply. When dealing with sponsors and matters relating to our online presence, ignore it. Actually, Ephraim’s system would work rather well.
The thing to keep in mind is that we’ve had issues with SGA since day one. They’re always coming up with new rules and mandates, trying to force clubs to fit into their little world. If we complied with everything they said we’d spend more time making constitutional changes than gaming. If you guys want to do that, I mean that’s fine, but we’re here to game and SGA’s boss’ boss will stand behind your decisions and “rule breaking” 100% so long as you don’t do anything that reflects poorly on the university or is illegal. I mean he gave you guys a $4,000 server after a one hour meeting, he’s got your back

MasterP
SpectatorThe first thing that came to mind is how much more difficult it’s going to be to get any serious sponsors with that name.
Speaking of name changes, that requires that the constitution be modified which requires PRIOR approval by the staff advisor.
MasterP
SpectatorIf you do allow them you need to have spares for public use. Not everyone is a hardcore gamer but everyone should be on equal footing when playing in a tournament.

SpectatorThey’ve had hybrid SSD/HDD drives for a while now and PCIe SSDs have always lead the pack in terms of raw transfer speed. It was only a matter of time before the two were merged.
I’d like to see some benchmarks. If done right that could be a really nice drive.

SpectatorHow to gold medal every level on Rogue Squadron: use the V-Wing with Gameshark’s unlimited ammo

That prison breakout is kinda tight for time, though. IIRC it took me an entire afternoon to get the gold on it.

SpectatorIt seems so long ago but I can remember when they released PC games that worked on every possible configuration. When developers took the time to code different modes for direct3d, opengl, and software rendering. When games were beta tested on both good and terrible hardware and scaled superbly across the entire spectrum. When you rarely needed support but when you did you called the phone number on the back of your CD jewel case, sat on hold for 30 seconds, and then talked to an American.
PC profits aren’t down because games are terrible, that’s incidental. Profit are down because they quit caring about the customers. If developers were to re-adopt the old models their overall game quality would skyrocket and their profits would follow shortly thereafter.
Consoles could benefit from that as well. Overall, it’s been feeling oftly 1983ish lately. I hope we don’t have a repeat of that disaster.
MasterP
SpectatorMy guess is it needs about the same videocard power as TF2 and CPU power as L4D2.
For a laptop, a midrange Core i5 would be sufficient with 6-8GB of RAM and either the ATI 64** or 67** series graphics card. Also, 7200rpm hard drive should be a no brainer extra.
MasterP
SpectatorGF 3.0 is one of the leading causes of HDD clutter.
You can pick up a decent gaming laptop for under $1000. If desktops aren’t an option that’s probably the better route to go.

SpectatorThe part I’m looking forward to the most is that for 48 hours there won’t be any aimbots or wallhacks.

Over 80% of students who mentioned games they play included League of Legends.
Of those, how many listed more computer games than console games? Be honest

The thread was named after you b/c it went way off topic after your first post. The derailing or derail-baiting poster is usually the one held responsible. Blaming the derailment on Ephraim, who came in 6 posts later, isn’t really fair. I meah yeah I could have but I could also have blamed it on Kazka or Felix, that doesn’t mean they had anything to do with it.
MasterP
SpectatorI split the off topic posts into their own thread. You’ve been here long enough to know that nothing ever gets deleted.

I wanted to know what you were thinking with your insulting (and proven wrong) statement.
How many is “a lot”? Also, how was the statement wrong? You just said TF2 gets a a good showing at the LANs, and that free-to-play will likely increase the campus playerbase, yet you saw no interest in it at VBH. To some degree, doesn’t that prove my point?
It certainly doesn’t make it insulting or completely wrong.
You also didn’t mention seeing any interest in Starcraft2 or BFBC2, both of which also have strong campus playerbases.
Like I said, what games the people that randomly happen upon your booth play is entirely dependent on the crowd and the vibe your booth projects.

SpectatorBack to topic: It’s been confirmed that XBOX360 will be stuck using controllers but PS3 will have Move, keyboard/mouse, and controller support and PC/Mac will have cross-platform matchmaking with PS3 users. I’m actually looking forward to that, opens the door for a highly competitive PC vs console exhibition match at LANs

Also the article states the game won’t be coming to XBOX.
The article you linked said it would be coming to XBOX but that Steamworks wouldn’t be implemented on XBL.
Personally, I don’t think it’s even possible to implement Steamworks on XBL. PSN was pretty basic in terms of coding which made it trivial to simply overlay Steamworks on top of it as an addon. XBL has a pretty complex backend framework and I don’t imagine MS would be too keen on releasing all the code for that to Steam for them to make the modifications. I don’t think it’s fair to bash MS over it, XBL is twice as old as PSN and those extra years do a number on the flexibility of the system. If PSN was 10 years old I imagine it’d be in the same boat. Then again, if PSN was released in tandem with XBL it would probably have forced XBL to be a free service <_>
MasterP
SpectatorI thought you were getting out of MMOs

MasterP
SpectatorI assumed it was a rhetorical question. LoL is a PC game that’s been played at the last couple LANs so… yeah that makes them console players.
I mean did you really think I’d say they weren’t PC gamers?

MasterP
SpectatorIt’s probably the proof of concept for a new engine upgrade. Aside from raw graphics, I’m curious as to what improvements have been made under the hood.
MasterP
SpectatorWhen you buy something, it’s your job as a consumer to inspect the item prior to purchase. If the item has been opened and there is evidence of it or a notice has been posted then you have no legal leg to stand on. However, if Gamestop is re-sealing the packages in a manner that leaves the average consumer unaware that the item has been tamperedwith and doesn’t inform the customer in any way then yes it most certainly IS illegal and they can at the very least be sued over it. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone couldn’t be arrested for ordering employees to do it. That’s so sketchy as hell there has to be a law against it.
That’s like you buying a deluxe or gold edition of a game and getting home to discover that the bundled expansions were removed by the retailer. You bought the game as a whole, not the game as the retailer thinks it should be sold.

Yes you must mean you never went to VBH.
I went my freshman year, got bored, and never went back. Tbh, I don’t know anyone else I graduated with who enjoyed it enough to go back every year. Maybe it’s popular now, idk, but it sure wasn’t a big draw back then.
Manlymoose, no one deleted anything actually relevant to the topic of this thread. You poked Ephraim with a stick and he broke it and threw it across the room. Get over it. You see that banner at the top of every page in the forums? #1 says “Be respectful to ALL other users.” That includes Ephraim and anyone else you can’t get along with in RL. If you can’t play nice and follow the rules, please leave.
