People like the originals because they are balanced and glitch free (for the most part). People leave on the custom maps because half of them are retarded and the other half take too long to learn. People want to play on maps they are familiar with and they are going to play on servers that have those maps. I would take ALL custom maps out of the general rotation (except a few like the CPL maps) and allow them only by ADMIN INITIATED vote.
EDIT: Also, the download server needs to be moved back to Aphrodite. There is no reason for it to be on Tron with the load it has on the raid array. Maps forever to download, even on campus, and that’s wrong.

I’m all for expanding but it is extremely unlikely that they will surrender a day’s worth of profit (be it little at best) so that we can do this. As for the power, there are two types of high-amp plugs and I don’t think the kitchen equipment use the 3-prong like the power box does. If they don’t you can forget this right now because they sure as aren’t going to install one just for us. Phase-wise, the powerbox only runs on single phase. I doubt if the university owns anything that would require all 3 phases of power.

Logitech and Saitech both have them beat on the gaming gear and the Steel Series heavy pad the club gives out as prizes is better than the exactmat. If you’d ever actually used one you’d be disappointed, the hard surface is a real turnoff during long-duration game sessions and the pad as a whole is quite a bit smaller than the QcK Heavy Steel.
According to the Razor website, the Vista drivers are still in beta and the card isn’t covered by a warranty while you are using them.
Only a half fail, maybe even less than that.
With absolutely no warranty that card isn’t getting anywhere near my comp.

I was just going to make a thread asking if something had been changed. My ping is normally around the 85-90 mark but for the last week it has been in the 135+ range. Hopefully the server just needs a restart so I can go back to playing CS on my favorite server lag free (well relatively lag free anyway).

The server isn’t the problem. If it is it’s likely something we don’t have permission to change.
Didn’t know MS allowed third party matchmaking. If that’s the case then there won’t be any problems so long as IT doesn’t find the ports it uses and block them too.
XBOX or PC?
PC would be fairly easy. XBOX is impossible at this point unless you have everyone in the same dorm but even then it might not be possible. Leatherwood has a single closet with 18 24-port switches but depending on how they’re configured you may be limited to a same-wing or a same-floor type deal when it comes to connecting to locally hosted games. I can check it out for you sometime this week if you’d like.
Of course, if you’re talking about piling everyone into a lobby somewhere that’d be much easier to deal with. Leatherwood has a fairly large lobby, as does Scott, Reynolds, and Buchannan. I’d be sweet if we could get the large gameroom in Buchannan but since it’s all-girls now that’s probably not going to happen.

Just curious, if you weren’t there when all this went down then how do you know what happened? How do you know he was even hacking? Since you banned him, demo pls.

Just so yall know, it’s not just the WCUG server that’s losing people. TAG’s normal servers have gradually been losing people over the last 3 months and now only has a full server at the peak times. The zombie and surf servers are still populated most of the time but aren’t anywhere near where they used to be. I think the CSS community as a whole is migrating to other games that are more cared for by their developers.

Shutdown -f -r would be better. It guarantees that the system will reboot. Stopping the services individually works but if you miss just one you’re screwed until you can get someone to let you into that closet.
Keep in mind the Cat’s Den charges money to use their Wii so they probably won’t be too keen on letting you use their resources for free. I’d check with the management there before anything like this was done.
If you want to rent their Wii I’m sure they’d be super cool with it but you’d have to bring your own controllers. I doubt if theirs would be to your liking.
