With the current time allocation, assuming were doing something similar to what I’ve detailed, we have 45 minutes set aside for people to use the bathroom and connect to servers?

    meh

    :baaasmiley:

I concede. Although it would be nice if the event after this one has TF2 at a later time :).

Also: I was a LAN admin for 2 years before I came to college for a company called MicroPC. I know that there needs to be time allowance. However it can be done within reason. For instance instead of saying 2.5 hours for TF2 we could say 2 hours (giving us 15 minutes of allowance built in) and then say 30 minutes overall allowance for whatever situation may arise – this would be 30 minutes that any game could use. I have found this to be very effective.

We have TF2 where it is because that way it gets the most time… since we always run over. This way we get 2 1/2 hours for TF2. Notice that CSS only gets 1 1/2 hours and last LAN it got about 30 minutes because everything ran over.

Also, let’s leave the schedule how it is because I’m glad I get to play Brawl for a change :)

    TF2 doesn’t need 2.5 hours.

    15 min – Warmup

    30 min – First Map

    30 min – Final Map

    5 minutes to create teams.

5 minutes to talk to your team.

5 minutes to decide who moves on.

15 minutes set aside in case of stalemates. Tie breaker should be a quick, fast, solution – Not an entire map.

15 minutes set aside for ‘oh *edited*’ moments.

    Total: 2 Hours

Nothing should cause the tournament to go outside this time table – assuming we only have 4 teams. If we ended up with 6 teams then we might need an extra map, at which point we could either remove the warmup or actually use 2.5 hours. However we won’t have 30 people playing TF2.

Now that I’m thinking about it. In case we do somehow end up needing 6 teams it would be a good idea to have an idea of how we would host the tournament. This isn’t a likely scenario but we want to be ready.

I’m only mentioning this because I think we are wasting 30 minutes of LAN time that could be used for something else.

I hate playing TF2 that early for my own personal reasons, primarily because I feel there is a chance that several people might miss the TF2 tournament, not realizing it is at 4pm.

Which brings me to my next idea. Flyers that have Tournament Schedules on them. Just an idea.

Dude in fable two totally asked me for “One Thowsannde gold…” except the entire line was much longer and every word was mispelled.

We should move CS:S to 4pm and TF2 to the CS:S slot. CS:S has always been the last game played and I think its time to change it up.

Glad to see you guys talked about the costume contest :).

Who the *edited* voted for gunbound xD. What a fail game.

Why is the most voted on PC game being played at 4pm? :P.

Chupa and I plays the WoW x_X.

My favorite PC game of all time was recently changed from StarCraft to Bioshock. The story and atmosphere of Bioshock were perfect for my gameplay needs.

Naturally at the moment, Dead Space is climbing the ladder for best Horror game.

Saints Row 2 wins for most ridiculous thug game. Thug leader of a rocket launching ninja gang = win.

Fable 2 is great minus its fail interface and seemingly slow performance issues.

Don’t make me post my 97′ escort with its dented hood being held on by the emergency latch and bungie cord. Technically the emergency latch is the only thing holding it but the bungie cord just makes my car epic.

I’ll take a pic tomorrow and post xD.

Balancing a pub is impossible unless policed religiously by humans. At which point it would just be annoying. You cannot balance players skills. Specifically because many CS:S players play fantastic sometimes and horrible others. You simply cannot know how well someone is going to play (except in certain situations such as the elite players and the very very bad players). The problem can’t be solved by this or anything else we do, just play the game and win or lose, have fun regardless. I’ve seen teams balanced as much on our server as I have on other servers with no balancing configurations/plugins.

Unless you have some way to telling the future or an extremely effective probability calculator, then you will not balance teams.

Also, teams can still be stacked with Auto Join. All Auto Join will do is make the stack unintentional (maybe).

its just funny how long the thread was up before it was 15-1 and then 17-3 and now 23-5. We clearly want it.

Clearly… want and need are two different things. Unnecessary restrictions only cause problems. That is what I’m trying to avoid.

I would argue that 23-5 is an very low representation of our entire css community.

Haha yeah that could be fun. Not sure I’d have anything to dress up in but still could be fun.

Players socializing in game helps build the community and keeps new players playing longer. It helps keep people on the losing team entertained and creates a ‘fun’ atmosphere. If this were a hardcore server then I’d sympathize. However, this is for people to just hop on and enjoy themselves, hardcore or casual.

There is not a team balancer that will balance teams effectively. It is impossible because the balance of a team is subjective and not an absolute truth, no program can make subjective decisions. There is not a method we can employ that will keep teams from being stacked.

I don’t care if I’m winning or losing. I’ll stay on the losing team the entire time as long as I have my friends to talk to. Its a pub. I think there are too many sore losers in this community. Just because you aren’t winning doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. /shrug, squeeze too tight and your gonna start losing people.

Voted no, I hate servers that force auto join. Sometimes I actually want to play with my friends. Regardless of autojoin, people will find a way to be on the team they want. I think the server is policed enough already. This won’t have the desired effect.

    Not a bad offer.

$37,440 is the lowest rate they are offering for that position.

$42,240 is the highest rate they are offering for that position.

I was offered 51k at my internship doing about the same thing. I guess it just depends on what you want your starting pay to be. Unless I was desperate I probably wouldn’t take a job under 40k. With the way the economy is going I just might be in that position soon >.< lol.

I talk a lot on the server because its just a pub and I enjoy talking to my pub friends :). The only people I care to mute are the ones screaming into mics and constantly playing crazy music, speaking gibberish, or enjoying a large case of mic fail.
