SpectatorYep. Until then, no reason to worry about it.

SpectatorThats the thing. The Forums are represent situations on the server. If you only play css and dont go on the forums, you obviously dont care you just want to play css. We advertise the website enough so until they have a problem with whats going they can *edited* on the server but if they want to see change they’ll come here

Spectatorteams are stacked too often in my opinion, i dont think you have to be on your friends team to have fun… but the problem is that its not just 2 or 3 people stacking… its 6 or 7 of the best people on one team, and it just takes too long for the team balancer to even this out.
another thing, would it be possible to better police the clan stacking rule… it just happens way to often for it to be random.
i just think auto-join is a good way to solve this

Spectatorum remember, if it fails we can always take it off

SpectatorBalancing a pub is impossible unless policed religiously by humans. At which point it would just be annoying. You cannot balance players skills. Specifically because many CS:S players play fantastic sometimes and horrible others. You simply cannot know how well someone is going to play (except in certain situations such as the elite players and the very very bad players). The problem can’t be solved by this or anything else we do, just play the game and win or lose, have fun regardless. I’ve seen teams balanced as much on our server as I have on other servers with no balancing configurations/plugins.
Unless you have some way to telling the future or an extremely effective probability calculator, then you will not balance teams.
Also, teams can still be stacked with Auto Join. All Auto Join will do is make the stack unintentional (maybe).

SpectatorWell along with the auto-balancer… which can be on when the admans are not…
I have come to the realization (thanks to Liam and other leet admans) that the admans themselves need to exercise balance as well. The combination of the two would beat any computer algorithm.
So basically, it is my understanding that admins are encouraged to help balance the server.

yeah i’ve tried to do that in the past. for some STRANGE REASON, whenever i swap someone (i usually do the swap for the end of a round), the autobalancer always puts that person back on the team. it’s uncanny the way it happens, and i dunno why it is

This has always been our desire.
As for clan balancing, I’ll try to keep a closer eye on it. I have asked the various clans in the past to not stack but I guess when admins aren’t on they don’t care. See what I can do to fix that.

SpectatorIt might be tricky since they can just de-tag, and use a random name so it seems like they’re a pub.
But you could make it so that the steam ids can’t be on one team for way too many rounds or something.

SpectatorI see the validity of both of the “fors” and “againsts” and i’d have to say i agree with the “fors” just because people in the Wcu server care more about points and such over having a “good” time. Hate to say it that way but it’s true. Sit in the server for an afternoon, more people leave when they die for 15 points multipule times in a row. Heck i know i do it and i usually enjoy playing in Wcu.
I would encourage the r00t’s to try it and out for a short period…say a week? Then ask people to come on the server and report what they thought of it.
Also the people against the server are people that i “rarely” see in the server. No offense to Nodice and Kappa but i rarely see you guys playing in there. And i think that some of the people who play more have a better grip on what the general concensus wants over the thoughts of a few people. Again, No Offense intended.

Clearly… want and need are two different things. Unnecessary restrictions only cause problems. That is what I’m trying to avoid.I would argue that 23-5 is an very low representation of our entire css community.
If you look at the stats page for CSS, you will find that 64 people out of the 2323 who have ever played there have over 1 day playing time. So 23 out of 64 is pretty good don’t you think?? Thats roughly a third of the population for it and 5 out of 64 which is about 8 perfect of the population that has invested time into the server. Just figuring this out mathimatically

SpectatorYour math ignores newcomers who may or may not like it.

SpectatorI see this going down the hotel cali “players with a ratio greater than 5:1 must reconnect in order to lose your momentum to help the opposing team” route.
October 18, 2008 at 11:56 pm #60128MasterP
SpectatorI think only like 3 people would have a problem with that but I wouldn’t worry about it going that far.
October 19, 2008 at 11:57 am #60147ren
Spectatorso-cal, while your point can apply to NoDice, Kappa plays in the server like every day…i don’t know where you’ve been, because he’s on my friends list and i see him all the time, talk to him all the time, etc.
but yeah… with a decent vote like this, and just a generally good idea, i don’t see why we can’t try it for a little, and if people like it just leave it. and if too many people don’t like it, we can always go back… regular players won’t stop playing here after this, they’ll just give their .02 and see what happens
October 19, 2008 at 9:38 pm #60174GORILLA
SpectatorI voted yes.
I think that it should be turned on all the time.
The auto-balance doesn’t always fix stacks, and even if it does the team that was stacked still has an advantage of score and money after the balance.
If the auto-select is forced there will be no stacking and on maps where players feel the advantage leans toward CT or T, it will be more fair.

SpectatorWhat if people just made a standoff at spectator, you know T’s=4 CT’s=5, just waiting for that
poor person to join T, then wammy… (@Aztec?)

SpectatorAutokick?
If people are stacking spectator ask them to join. If they don’t feel free to remove them. If all they care about is being on the winning or advantaged team then we have no need for them here, that’s not the type of person I want on the server anyway.

I agree, we plus we cant just throw away a 27-6 vote or else we wouldnt of voted. If they people in the server dont like it…we advertise the forums enough, let them come and give there 2 cents.

SpectatorI too have seen some slight better balance on maps such as awptec…and only 1 person was repeatedly *edited*in about it, and I could always take care of him the old fashioned way… : P
