Because out of those 11 million, there couldn’t possibly be DAoC or EQ1 players running around? It is accessible to hardcore and vanilla players, hence its popularity.
Blizzards agile iterative design cycle for all of its games = perfection in the end.
Also, I played EQ1 and DAoC. I hated both. EQ1 was cool for its time but in the end it was just squares fighting triangles. Or was it dots vs static? I can’t remember.
In the end, EQ1 had 500,000 players and WoW has 11 million. No argument can beat those numbers.
I play WoW. My gf plays WoW. My friends play WoW. We like the game. I don’t mind that you don’t like the game but telling me that the only reason I play is because I didn’t play EQ1 or DAoC is a fallacy.
Enjoy your real bad looking ‘real’ graphics and I’ll keep my cartoons of awesomeness. Do what you enjoy, it isn’t my place to judge

Valve makes solid games. Applications ‘always’ have bugs. There a more now than 10 years ago because the applications being developed today are 100 times more complicated and far larger in scope. Testing is a nightmare given the scope of today’s applications.
The fact that Valve released the game with bugs is moot when considering that every game that is released has bugs. Given the quality of the game even a month before release, it was highly polished! Also, among the best PC game developers, Valve ranks up there around Blizzard, Bioware, and Bethesda…
You want a buggy PC developer? Try Rock Star and any ‘PC’ version of GTA. Now that is buggy
.Also, thank God for Steam. If it weren’t for Steam Microsoft may have been able to ‘charge’ to play PC games (that aren’t persistent) online. Sure if Valve went under I might lose the games I’ve bought but even if they went under, the royalties and contracts alone would keep Steam running…
Seriously, I <3 Steam. Sure in the beginning it was rough around the edges but it still worked.
At the end of the day just think of it like this.
Steam > Microsoft Windows Live.

Even if it isn’t on expert you can VOTE in game to change the diff…
Very simple process usually.
Also works if it is on Expert and you want a little less pain.

The game works perfectly with 4 v 4.
4 humans vs hordes of mindless zombies and 4 super zombies controlled by players. I believe the two teams are ranked by how well they do when they play the human side.
The game runs in campaigns of 5 maps. So 4 campaigns = 20 maps. After playing coop mode so much on expert I can’t imagine having smart humans controlling those zombie bosses…
I think the AI Director works excellently. For those who don’t know, the game is controlled by an AI Director which decides when things happen and where items appear. Health packs, pills, molotovs, pipe bombs, extra pistol, better weapons, and when zombies spawn / how many are all controlled by the AI Director.
It works well!
Zombie players can play the following characters:
1x Smoker (Zombie that shoots his tongue out and chokes/pulls the player to him.
1x Boomer (Fatass zombie that pukes on players or explodes and hits every player around him. If you are slimed all nearby zombies attack you and zombies spawn)
2x Hunter (These guys are fast and pounch on top of players pinning them to the ground, helpless).
1x Tank (The AI Director will randomly select a player to play the Tank during maps. It might never decide to allow a Tank to spawn in a play through though).
The Witch cannot be played but will spawn if the difficulty is > Normal. She sits and cries until disturbed, at which point she will 1 shot you. She is crazy so avoid her at all costs.
I think the game is fantastic. Whether or not one can tournament it will be seen after release. I think there will be a way though.
You may think 4 v 4 is lame but the game is designed for that kind of gameplay. It is a blast to play and feels very epic as you play.
Just set off a car alarm once and you’ll know what I mean.
