Ok, I’m what you might call a computer nubzilla 3000, but if I got my lappy last summer and as far as I know I do not have the SP1, do I just go to the Microsoft DL center and just simply download and install?? Are there any tricksies that I should know about while/when doing this…Anything to make my computer a lil faster is a plus to me.

And I think especially with summer being here now, the regulars will not be as strong as they used to, and keeping the servers maps to the standard popular ones would be the best idea to attempt to keep a strong showing during summer. We have already seen that there are several people here that cannot play as much or even at all when they go home for the summer, or they have vacations or what not…

You say this now, and then when the server gets killed because no one wants to play the maps you will certainly have a change of heart.

 

I am all for new maps coughcoughHAVANAcough but as Kuros and I have said, the server’s population in general will disagree and go bye bye…It happened when Havana was in the map vote, and when assault was in the map vote, and when 747 was in the map vote, and when Dust was in the map vote. And excluding assault, those other maps are all fun fun fun…

I think learning a new map is part of the problem, a lot of people do not like change, i.e. why a lot of people hate havana, they won’t take the time to learn the map or accept that it changes…

I have not played oilrig too much(is that the vip one?) but I know militia and assault empty the server faster than [enter cliche here]….They should never return to the rotation…

Although I have yet to play this newer rotation with deaglezknives and blitz, it looks like that section from deaglezknives-aztec and maybe sk3 would be a weaker point if players leave. Just my .02 but maybe switching deaglezknives somewhere lower such as in between d2 and temple, or temple and italy…To me it looks like none of those maps will bring in an ample amount of peeps if things get low…But again, I have not played this rotation, so maybe someone can school me on it goes…

 

And I cannot wait to play deaglezknives, it sounds so phun…

2 Things:

a) MasterP does not play 1.6

2) You don’t have to play the game all the time to be a CL… Being active on the forums and IRC is much more important because you have to be able to change things as the community sees fit (this does not require playing the game). Also I think MasterP has some good ideas with maybe starting some additional CSS servers(gungame? zombie?) to add to the arsenol.

 

slightly offtopic, sort of, but…

 

As fun as new servers would be, I think they have been tried, and have not worked…

Gungame was tried, slight interest was shown initially, but eventually died off…

Someone else posted examples of good servers going bad from multiple servers popping up, the iue5 server to be exact. This server used to be like WCU, packed all the time, then they added a gungame server, and the regular source server is now empty, and the gungame is not full that often if I do recall…

 

But I am totally not opposed to a gungame/zombie/surf server, they is all phunz…

 

Honestly I think the biggest task at hand should be keeping the server populated with regulars during the summer…As I know I will not be as active in the game during the summer, mostly only at nights here in about 2 weeks…
