We can draw pictures and pre-plan all we want but the truth is we really have no idea what the UC is going to give us as it’s different almost every time.

solely can attest to that statement. They have had the same slip with the lay out and # of tables and power cords needed for 8 lans. and every time we get different numbers of everything.

Getting their early is key. this does not mean dont sketch up your floor plans. Summit your ideas just so everyone can be on the same page walkin in, in the morning.

in reply to: Discuss your issues #56502

Sketch us up something on how you would like to see it layed out. The way it has been set up in the past, their has been plenty of waistfull space. And remember if the UC sets it up one way, we can alsways go in their early and move tables around to get it just right… i strongly believe their is is enough space as long as we get them to fold up the stage. do you all think so?

in reply to: Discuss your issues #56500

To make more space for consul. And this also adds more wall space for projectors… Its not hard at all to bump where the current power box sits for the PC area back more twards the center of the room. The cable will easly extend another 20feet.

We can make the UC fold up that collapsible stage, should not be any fees added.

By doing both of the above the Consul area just easly doubled. with no affect on the PC area.

Attached is my 15 second MS Paint sketch of what this looks like on paper. (note, its not to scale, lol, but the # of tables will easly fit.)

    lansetup1.jpg

The red, dotted line is where the stage “used to be” We can ask for it to be folded back

    lansetup2.jpg

The gray area is where the projectors can go.

arrange your tables in the space how you please.

in reply to: Discuss your issues #56497

how much space do you all need?

would twice the room and # of tables of last event be enough?

    Win/win thank me later…

however, as kuros stated, we still have the noise issue with DDR and Rockband drums. The only way around the noise is to move to the MP room, or simply not allow it. Set up a consul fun night for these games ;)

And as far as the polls go, it could be put on the registration sheet and made manditory that way we actually get mroe imput for the LANs.

You wont a real response. If you make it mandatory you will get garbage responses. The ones that really care are the ones what will leave feedback weather its mandatory or not. If you would like me to look over the questions i’d be happy to. I piratically have a minor in conducting public surveys. The hardest part is phrasing them in a non bias manner. If you do a bubble poll, the only real analytical type feedback is using a 4point forced choice likert scale. However bubble polls, are alsways subject to random guessing. I would recommend the open ended type questions. Just shoot me a PM if you want.

Mandatory won’t work people want to be able to have choice and not feel obligated by things. It makes something more enjoyable when you don’t HAVE to do it. I would hand them out as people are leaving, this way you can ask “what do we need to do differently” rather than “what do you want done.” You are much more likely to get answers that aren’t tailored to individual players this way. You’ll get more of the same responses over and over if there was a problem that was really significant.

kuros makes valid points. only thing i would say is to not do them at the end. at the end its alsways panic and kayos from people packing up and stuff. I’d say do them 1/2way through, hand them out when people arnt occupied by something else. When they have time on their hands they will typically full them out respectfully.

Good point, but still, I need some votes on what maps you guys want to play.

that was a polite way to say drop it, and lets get back on topic… fyi

lets hope page 2 stays on topic :mario: and yes i was guilty also

in reply to: TF2 maps to be played #56388

maybe a combo of ctf and arena,, i just cant stand doing the same thing over and over. kuros have you looked at arena_mach? very team based arena map. As well as Arena_Well

in reply to: TF2 Teams #56377

btw: random has only been done one time in the past. unless you did not sign the team sign up sheet, which was also full of fail :)

in reply to: TF2 Teams #56375

To start out the teams, you can do it a number of ways. But its going to take some Negotiation inorder to make them fair. (we have never dont this is the past, and we really should) As long as each team agrees they have a stand chance amongst the other teams when we are golden.

in reply to: TF2 maps to be played #56373

as fun as melays are,, i dont think it should be a decider on which team advances in the tournament.

i vote to play another round as masterp said, but take engi and demo man out, so their is none of that ghey turtleing up stalemate crap again. and the first to 1 cap wins after stalemate

in reply to: TF2 maps to be played #56363

agreed, the 1 class per team has worked out for the best at the last few events. props to whoever decided that. but thats getting off topic

in reply to: TF2 Teams #56358

I agree with the gym class style. as nickname posted.

To add to it we need to group together people that feel that they dont know the game all to well. so assuming we are doing 4 team (but if we have 5 teams just change the numbers) so the 4 best four players should also have at least one of the not so great players. and then the normal gym class style picking.

Another way we could try: The Negotiation style

because for the most part we all know how we play, which classes we are best at, who we are best teamed up with, exc…. if we group together and piece the 4 or 5 teams together as a whole group. If someone feel’s there team is stacked on the good or on the suck, the appropriate trades can be made. Maybe it takes the best 2 players and 3 noobs, maybe it the best 4 players and the worst 4 players split up and the middle players distribute. When each team feels they have a fair team, or as fair as they are going to possibly get, then we are set.

Maybe it takes a combination of the two ideas.

What it comes down to is we dont wont one team going in knowing hands down they are going to get rolled. These events are here for fun, meeting new people, and having a good time.

in reply to: Console Meeting Minutes (September 12, 2008) #56353

I knew this was going to happen with the split of the PC/Consul.

What should have happened is the consul games would be voted on at the big general meeting. General meeting meaning everyone in general (PC, consul, everyone). At the smaller meetings things like how are we going to run the voted games, how we setting up the consul lan flow, order of events, special consul fun nights or what ever they wanned. Things like “none of us have that game” should have been brought up at the general meeting. and for those that actually play consul game at the lan should have went to their meeting if you really cared what was going on. On a side note: I have received a few PM’s (which will stay private) about how one’s did not really like how this consul meeting was ran, i posted that so you now know and perhaps next time things will be ran smoother.

audios, cant wait to LAN day, looking forward to seeing some cod4 ps3 action. :)

in reply to: TF2 maps to be played #56351

rydell, i really like your cft_steamroll map you just added cant get much more fast paced that that.

I dont really see how it would be possible to do a PL or CP map as the map’s are sided.

Arena was made for 5v5 tournaments, and its new. (we all not each other strats on the above ctf maps). I vote for not doing all of the same maps as we did at the last events. I’d like to see some arena at the event.

In order of which arena maps i believe will work best for 5v5 at the LAN

    1. Arena_Granery
    2. Arena_badlands
    3. Arena_mach
    4. Arena_Well
    5. Arena_dust2

all are small, all are fast paced, all are new, none will end in a stalemate. don’t see how you can go wrong. :)

ohh,, i did not realize you got money for join spec,, allright well all is good then :)

    thanks for clearing that up

in reply to: Rejoining for money Disabled #56325

i’v scene a plugin that record your id’s and if you join and comeback within a set timeframe it remembers your id and gives you the same money you left with.

I can foresee admins with money not going into spec to see if someone is hacking, unless its like uber obvious. They get punished for doing their job. thats nonsense. hopefully that workaround will come sooner than later or i foresee some *edited*ed of admins.

someone joining for $800 really worth punishing the admins loosing alot more than that when they need to step into spec to do their job? juice is not worth the squeeze

i’v been searching and cant find any of the settings for the arena update. maybe someone can past the code here?

Our server does not let anyone join and play when their are less than 6people. Every server i’v been on lets you play 1v1 2v2 all the way up to 8v8 (maybe more, thats just what i’v scene). really needs to be fixed as its currently rotation to a map ppl cant play

    can anyone find the settings?
