I feel like it wasn’t BPs fault alone but they shouldn’t be blaming it on other people so the other people afterward can blame it on more people.
This shouldn’t be a game of politics.
And who can blame them, if they don’t make this a political game they’ll be the only one stuck with all the blame when all is said and done. I think if BP wasn’t the only one being targeted by the press they’d be trying to do alot more to help rather than spending most of their time and effort covering their *edited*. They haul all the CEOs in front of Congress, expecting someone to willingly jump on a sword over this, and get *edited*ed off when everyone has an excuse or explaination for their mistakes. Well what do you expect? No one is going to claim sole responsibility for a freak accident that took mistakes from all involved to create.
They want to minimize the damage as much as anyone else but their primary goal is to still be standing at the end of the day. That is not the goal of the US government right now. They want their pound of flesh and will say, do, or print anything to make that happen, regardless of whether or not it’s the truth.

ParticipantI hate my 5770. When it’s behaving it’s fine but I’m constantly having issues with it and none of them are repeatable enough to RMA the card. I would look at getting a high-end GTX260 or GTX275, if nothing else you know they’re always going to be reliably the same performance regardless of the game or driver version.
I got one of these a few months back and love it:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001338&Tpk=samsung%202494
Nickname will rage because it’s 16:9 (1920×1080) instead of 16:10 (1980×1200) but it’s still a beautiful LCD and is solid for the price.
Also, what’s the make/model of your 8800GTX and is it still under warranty?

Also worth noting, the US Interior Department concluded that a massive oil spill at that well was unlikely and exempted BP from doing a detailed environmental impact analysis. Mayhaps Obama partially to blame? An impact study would have delayed the project significantly…
my original point was this whole mess was the result of a cluster*edited* of so many things going wrong its not even funny. pretty much everybody involved with the project did something of questionable judgement or just plain wrong/bad
Yeah but not “everyone involved” will face the long-term fallout from this. Just one company will.
I do agree though that as more info is released it’s looking more and more like the stars just lined up for this happen. I mean a hell of a lot of things went wrong one after another but if you’re not going to blame EVERYONE involved in the *edited*up it’s not fair to blame anyone involved.
Btw, I emailed Obama last week and told him to lower majormajormajor to the oil leak and let him plug it with his overly large stature. I have yet to get a reply.

You realize that 10 miles out is not extremely noticable right? Oh and if BP wants to put one in my backyard, YES PLEASE!
NuRayZ said:
i think that rig was in commission before obama called for more drilling.
You thought incorrectly, they started drilling at that well in Feb 2010.
NuRayZ said:
and what would the incentives be for allowing near shore drilling? Cheaper oil?
If it’s cheaper and easier to get to the refinery, it is by definition cheaper to the consumer.
NuRayZ said:
Quicker clean up time?If not for the extreme depth the original attempt to fix it would have worked. If not for the extreme distance from shore the backup container could have been deployed days, maybe weeks, sooner. That means less oil leaked so yeah, quicker cleanup time.
NuRayZ said:
bull*edited*, the only difference would be… the amount of money it is taking BP to clean up the mess.
So it costs BP less to clean up yet the quantity of leaked oil and time required to clean it up doesn’t change? Your math doesn’t make sense.
NuRayZ said:
A day or two less of thousands and thousands of gallons of oil spilling on the coast would make absolutely little difference to the impact
Day or two? Try month or two before it’s over with. This whole ordeal could have been over May 7 but the water was too deep and cold for a well head to be properly deployed.
NuRayZ said:
Poor over-regulated oil companies making record breaking profits, we shouldn’t be so hard on them…*edited* them dude.
The typical liberal response: they make money so they’re evil. Here’s a wakeup call, those “record breaking profits” you always hear about, yeah that’s before taxes and operating costs. In 2009 BP had a net income of $16.58 billion. That’s about a 6% profit margin. That’s less than pharmaceuticals, banks, telecomm, and food distributors. No one ever bashes ConAgra, Harris Teeter, or Ingles for their industry high profit margins…

wat
What do you mean wat? The reason it’s taking so long to stop the leak is because they had to drill for oil a *edited*ing mile and a half underwater.
Nickname said:
u know this happened cause the safety valve didnt work because THE BATTERY ON IT WAS DEAD AND THEY WERE TOO LAZY TO REPLACE IT; which caused too much pressure on the cement cap, which was also subpar quality, and BP had no plan on how to deal with something bad happening. Basically its shocking it took this long for a major problem like this to happen in the first place.
There’s a whole lot more to it than a dead battery but feel free to keep blindly blaming them. There were two control pods for the deadman switch, only one had a dead battery, and before they can even activate the communications, power, and hydraulics lines must all be severed. At this point they think the hydraulic lines were still intact which would prevent the automatic systems from engaging.
I love how everyone’s jumping all over BP when they only owned 65% of the well it was sitting on and employed 5% of the workers on the platform. You don’t hear a word about Anadarko, Mitsui, Cameron International, or Transocean because those are companies the average American has never heard of. At the very least, they’re as much to blame. What I don’t understand is why you don’t hear about Halliburton’s involvement, the libs love to bash them.
Sure there was negligence, there always is to some degree. What isn’t fair is to tell oil companies that they can’t drill for really easy to get oil on land and force them to drill 1.5 miles underwater, 50 miles out to sea and then get upset at the oil companies when the environmental damage and recovery time from a spill increase exponentially. It’s not their fault the only place they can get oil is really far away.
Also worth noting, the US Interior Department concluded that a massive oil spill at that well was unlikely and exempted BP from doing a detailed environmental impact analysis. Mayhaps Obama partially to blame? An impact study would have delayed the project significantly…

You missed the entire point of what he said just like your liberal friend Rachel Maddow. Instead of actually listening to what he’s saying you’re getting caught up in the race-baiting.
Just wait for Fox News to interview him, then you’ll actually see him answer questions that relate to his stance on modern issues. Hate to say it but it’ll take Fox News interviewing him before he actually gets a fair interview that isn’t ENTIRELY about his stance on 1960s legislation.
Hell, they don’t even quiz supreme court nominees on race-related legislation like they’ve been doing with this guy.

If a pipe bomb went off at a church it would make foxnews before the official report came out, with big white letters saying “TERRORIST ACT?” or “ISLAMIC EXTREMISTS AT IT AGAIN!?”. Regardless if it was staged or not.
Yes, it would make the same public headlines as when churches were being burned right and left in Flordia years ago. None. A brief mention and then back to commercials. FBI wasn’t even involved if I remember correctly…
NuRayZ said:
That’s been my whole point, they aren’t fair and balanced, they are exactly like the rest of MSM with a very narrow agenda of bull*edited*.
Then no media is balanced then because CNN and MSNBC completely ignored this as well. Although if you include local stations, Jacksonville’s local Fox station was on that story like white on rice.
NuRayZ said:
And if you honestly think that isn’t remotely prejudice or a double standard, then your glasses must be busted or something. I may be naive to give a public neighborhood’s mosque in florida the benefit of the doubt, but at least i’m not a racist prick who’s first thought is “I bet they let off one of their own bombs on accident, keke.”
Let’s talk double standard. 11 churches were burned in a 150 mile area in Texas between Jan 1 and Feb 8, 2010. Did that make the media headlines? No. Were the FBI involved? No.
So a bomb that does little or no real damage to a mosque gets you up in arms but burning whole churches down doesn’t even phase you? And you call me the racist prick?

Exactly. If a restaurant was racist about who they allowed to dine there I know I certainly wouldn’t eat there. Having policies like that would destroy a business.

People need to become more accepting of one another, especially in somewhere like New York.Ideas like this make us no different than the “ridiculous Arab terrorists” that want us out of their country.
Hmm, I always felt like we were fairly open-minded in this area. I mean it’s not like there is an absence of hate crimes here, but I would think that the majority of us are tolerant of each other.
I’m planning on moving out of the tri-state area sometime in the summer and one of the things that I told my boyfriend I was going to miss was the diversity.
What I meant was that most people are so open-minded around here that the people who are not really need to catch on, especially since it is so diverse around here. =)

the whole point is where was fox news on this story? they would be all over it if what you said is true about terrorists being trained here and going to another country, but if someone was to threaten to blow up a mosque, they dont even care?
There’s no reporting because there’s no evidence of anything. At all.
All they have is an “explosion”, the strength of which or magnitude has never been said and pictures of the damage never shown, a video of some random white guy that’s too blurry to do anything with, and “remnants of a pipebomb” which could be or mean anything.
There are no facts here and certainly nothing substantial enough to make an arrest on. If they do get a tip on who this was they *edited* well better hope he still has evidence in his house because if he doesn’t they’ll arrest him and hang him on the international media gallows but have zero evidence to convict him on.
Also, just watched the video again and the shot of him walking around “hehind” the building is interesting. In the news report they said the recording was “taken at the mosque that shows a potential suspect walking in the area where the bomb exploded and close to the time the blast occurred” yet the lighting in the video is NOT from anywhere near 9:35PM in Florida. Maybe more like 6pm but there’s way too much ambient light for it to be recorded that late in the evening.
Inb4 this was staged

Okay REGARDLESS of the source of this video, i just wanted to get your take on Rand Paul. I don’t need to be reminded this is an interview from msnbc, it’s clear from the 5 minute intro they are making him out as a straight up racist. It’s obvious MSM is scheming and twisting him to try and answer their question. But regardless of all that, take the content and answers he has given (or lack there of). I don’t think he’s a racist, but his stance on civil rights is just a little to 1800’s. I mean seriously, if you believe it’s okay from private businesses to discriminate, that makes you look pretty *edited* bad. He has a huge chance of losing now, and NOT because of MSM but because of his very odd views on civil rights. Still, he’s in Kentucky where people are just as nutty as him.
The MSM is afraid of this guy because he’s a 100% pure free-business conservative which is going to resound VERY strongly with small business owners across the country. It’s obvious they want to destroy this guy because instead of focusing on his views on MODERN topics they can’t get past his interpretation of events that occured when he was in diapers.
Like you said, he’s not a racist but he does think that businesses should have the right to do exactly what they want without interference from the government. If you listen to his NPR interview, he wasn’t talking specifically about “serving” as much he was about “hiring” and this is a 100% common-sense argument. If you have a white person that is perfect for the job and a black person that barely meets the minimum requirements for the job, why should the government have the right to tell you that you have to hire the black person over the white just to meet your racial quotas? Doesn’t it make more sense to just let the business hire the person best suited for the job? This is a double-edged sword and I’ll gladly take the cuts for it because when I get hired I want it to be because I’m most qualified or the hiring supervisors felt me the best pick, not because I’m white.
You’ll notice that when Rachel Maddow started drilling him on his stance on allowing restaurants to segregate their counters he made an extremely compelling counter-example in reference to gun-rights in restaurants and is typical for MSNBC she completely ignored it. You have the constitutional right to take your firearm anywhere you so desire yet restaurants have the authority to bar you from possessing a gun if they so desire. If restaurants have the ability to bar you based on what you wear or are carrying why is it magically not ok to bar you entry based on what you look like? It’s an extremely slipery slope and the point I think he was trying to make is that if you empower restaurants to refuse service based on some criteria you have to allow them to refuse based on all possible criteria. If a restaurant wants to refuse service to a chunk of the local population, let them, it will undoubtably hurt their sales and will destroy their reputation in town but it’s their right to do so. If a company wants to hire the best and most qualified employees regardless of race, let them.
Government controls should only affects businesses that receive government funding.

What you think that *edited* doesn’t happen because they’re in America? Naive much? I mean we can ignore that there’s been documented cases of Mosques in America training and sending suicide bombers to other countries if you want but burying your head in the sand doesn’t really solve anything…
They’ll never arrest anyone for this because a random guy on camera wandering around seemingly lost isn’t a crime. Also notice that the guy isn’t carrying anything and doesn’t have a backpack or bag. Not only that but the videos are so blurry that half the white males in Jacksonville could probably fit the description. The videos shown in that news report are also obviously editted because the one of him behind the building skips. Unless he was carrying the pipebomb in his pants…
