I guess this is a stupid question but…If one person knives the wall the other is forced into a knife fight? Or does it have to be a mutual 3 slashes by each person?
Mugging Mod means they steal your money when they knife you.
Liam
ParticipantOnce we move to Sourcemod and get away from metamod I’ll do that. With Metamod its like an extra thousand lines of code to get it to swap like your talking about.
Sourcemod has all of the stuff built into its framework to allow that more easily.

* rate – capped at 20000 for online play (25000 at LAN). Setting it too low will cause choke. Setting it too high will cause choke.Setting the rate too low will make you get disconnected from the server because your ping will go to like 10 million lol.
I can honestly say that I haven’t touched my rates since like, 7.1 because I don’t really care about lagging

I dont really think 1.6 has much in the way of variation on this stuff anyway and the Sauce server forces you to a minimum of 25000/75/75 anyway.

Sorry if this sounds *edited*y or elitist or weird,Hi Everyone, I’m new to this server and I play enough (about 3 hours weekly
). I’ve seen about 3 admins so far: goat, liam and no dice (correct me if I’m wrong)I’m fairly new to CSS actually, but I’ve been playing 1.5 for awhile (awhile as in 2-3 years as a kid) (nothing pro though).
Wait, let me get to my point before you destroy me X_X
Since I’ve been playing on this server, I’ve been always the first to connect to this server when a map changes (except on SK/maps I don’t have, which is most of the time). I’m connecting from Calgary, Canada so I don’t understand why I would connect so fast?
Any input on this? cuz it’s quite weird/freaky to me

You flame me you will get your nether regions roasted.

The WCUTB is broken atm. We also cant fix it atm due to a problem with Tron. So when that issue is resolved, then they can drop in the fix.

I deny that anyone who wears a DcPN tag in wcu, Is actually in DcPN.We do not ghost, Hell we are hardly on vent anymore, We use vent for scrims or if something is up. Wildthang, one of your admins is in vent with us most of the time, And he doesnt allow us to ghost, Regardless if he was there to tell us not to ghost or not, We wouldnt, We are almost all WCU reg’s and we play for fun, not to ghost and ruin fun. Get that through your head.
And for those of you who think pink has been here ‘3 weeks’
..Good game.
Deny away. None of us are stupid and most of us do know who is in DcPN simply for the fact that this has been blown so utterly out of proportion.
The members of DcPN, I’m not saying all of them, but some of them are very guilty of stacking. They still stack but at least the balancer moves them now. *shrug*
So keep beating a dead horse and keep complaining over this or let it go and play to have fun. Sometimes people screw up. Sometimes people just dont like other people. Sometimes people just want to be mean for no apparent reason. Whatever the cause, reason, or whim behind all of the arguing, just let it go and get back to having fun and letting the drama die off as it needs to. There’s more important things going on, like where to go get lunch at today.
Have a nice day.

Some of the maps do not work well on a public server because of design. This problem is _greatly_ compounded by short round times. For example, CTs on cs_italy are f’d. Round time is what, two minutes? 120 seconds. It takes some 40-odd seconds to rescue the hostages without incident (no pesky Ts trying to prevent CTs from completing their objective). In a 12v12 server it is very, very unrealistic to have the CTs win rounds, and then the team balancer freaks out because of the number of rounds won.Solution? Increase round time.
Aztec and Italy take time for the disadvantaged team — even Office is better served with a longer round time.
CT’s on Italy are *horrible* about camping.

As a suggestion.After balancing team numbers….
How about making the Balancer total all kills on both teams, total all deaths on both teams, then subtract the Deaths from the Wins. And then make it check the difference between both teams Values at the end of the round, If the difference is greater than the 2/3rd of the number of players in the server it places the lowest scorer on the losing team onto the winning team then looks for the a player on the winning team with a score (Kills minus Deaths) that is greater than half the initial difference between the two team values + the number of kills of the person just switched from the losing team. This chosen person is then switched to the losing team.
If the team that lost the round has the higher Team Value, only balancing based on team sizes occurs.
Example .start
Team CT Wins the round.
Teams are balanced if necessary
Check if Winning team has a greater Team Value.
Team CT = 24Kills 12Deaths
Team T = 23kills 21Deaths
Team CT Value = 12
Team T Value = 2
Lowest scorer (2Kills) from Team T is switched to Team CT.
Difference in Team Values = 10
Divide by 2 = 5
Plus Switched players kills = 7
Is there a Player on Team CT with 7+ kills?
Look for CT player with kills = to 7? Increment till a player is found.
If no player is found with 7+ kills, Switch CT player with highest Kills to Team T.
.end
Thats actually a really good idea.

Anyone else have any suggestions/comments about this? If not, I’ll write it and we’ll give it a go.

What Facist is showing has been the norm since the update you mentioned previously. I’ve seen very little balancing myself, though I have been switched a lot more, but normally only to even teams when someone else stacks and only when my score is low.Over the past week I haven’t seen the Balancer move a high scoring player once. And on the occasions I’ve seen teams balanced on account of player numbers, I often only see the leading team being given the additional player.
I’ve tried to keep track of the balances made by the Team Balancer, but its been difficult because much more often than not no balancing takes place. This isn’t the case 100% of the time, as a few rounds I’ve played in have had a significant amount of players being moved, although its hard to say whether it Balanced teams or not (it could’ve all been down to one or a few players stacking, it didn’t seem to be down to the Balancer trying to balance out Win, Streak or Score variables etc).
A new update was done last night. We tried something new since I haven’t had a lot of suggestions here. If what we did doesn’t work we’ll figure something out.

For what its worth, there is an elite server here you can use to practice with. It’s usually empty.

i think it needs to balance size based on KDR because half of the time there will be one team with 40% of the players having double digit kills, and the other team might have 1 person if even, with double digits. While it helps a team win a round or two, its pretty unfair for the people who are already at a disadvantage with weapons and money.
That is an excellent suggestion. Anyone else have any input on this idea?

So I was running through cpl_mil today and laid waste to 4 t’s coming up the hallway through apts.

Then a spawn-camper shot me. Dirty *edited*.

ParticipantJust for teh record, the team balancer does two things:
The first is it keeps teams balanced on size. (That part works fine.)
The second is it keeps teams balanced on wins. (That part needs your input.)

No no, I’m pretty sure it’s comcast. Comcast in Tallahassee sucks. It’s like this with everybody. It also doesn’t happen with just CS, it happens with WoW and AIM as well. The reason is because up until a year or two ago I believe, Comcast has had a monopoly in Tally, so they got away with price gouging, poor service, and poor customer support. It’s pretty much the *edited*est thing alive. But, I thought I’d give your way a shot anyways, but I don’t know how to configure router settings. Never had to before. Once my roomate is out, I’ll hook my comp direction up to the cable modem just to make sure it’s not the router.
I’ll be happy to help you. Hop on IRC and I’ll walk you through it.

Had a pretty good one today, at least to me. It’s 2v3, but I have no idea what my other team mate was doing, I think he was afk in spawn or camping at who knows where. I go and pick up the bomb, then go to B and plant. I knew the 3 CT’s were at A, so I go to camp in the house connecting B and A. I see two run past the door, but hear the 3rd coming through the house. Take him out with the AK (seemed like it took forever to kill him) as he runs by, immediately switch to deagle as I head outside. Headshot the 2nd guy as he comes around the corner and proceed to take out the 3rd while he’s defusing.Really no great feat of skill, but I still felt good afterwards. Probably a testimony to my nubness that I’d post about it ^^
PS: Comcast sucks the major donkey balls. I keep getting disconnected like every 5-10 minutes for a split second, which causes my screen to go into remix style when playing CS. I can’t move and I see the same thing happen 3-4 times over. So freakin annoying.
Its not comcast. I have comcast. Open the ports up on your router for steam and the issue will be resolved. I put the link in the Counter-Strike server on how to fix it.

Thanks. You too.

From the MOTD on connect to the CS:S server.
This server is run by the Western Carolina University Gaming Club.
For more information, see http://www.wcugaming.org/
Server rules:
1. Cheating of any form is strictly prohibited and will result in a permanent ban.
2. No racism, sexism, religious defamation, or trolling.
3. No spamming grenades, voicecom, say, or teamsay.
4. Intentional team-flashing will result in a slay.
5. Map exploits (sky-walking, boosting through floors leaving the play area of the map) will result in an instant slay.
6. Do not argue with admins. Admin abuse should be reported on the forums.
7. No pornographic or shock-imagery sprays.
8. Terrorists must attempt to plant the bomb on bomb defuse maps. Spawn campers will be slain.
9. Counter-terrorists must attempt to rescue the hostages on hostage maps, and must attempt to escort the VIP on assassination maps. Spawn campers will be slain.
10. Do not kill hostages.
11. Do not plant in the water on de_inferno.
12. Do not join the larger team when joining or stack as a clan
Have a nicer day. I’m also not having a *edited*ing contest with you.

I’ve seen some really poor balancing happen on occasion this morning. Half of it just confuses me but I’II try and explain incase someone can make sense of it. Here we go…#1 The leading scorer on the winning team never swaps teams.
#2 The leading team have all positive K:D ratios the losing team have all negative K:D ratios and no balancing takes place.
#3 The lowest ranked player on the winning (utterly dominating) team with 0 kills and multiple deaths gets switched to the losing team to Balance when someone specs/leaves.
Its felt all morning like the balancer has been more concerned about team numbers, which is a valid issue, but the swaps it has and the swaps it hasn’t made have been allowing one team to dominate.
I played nuke earlier where my team was completely destroyed each round by constant strong rushes by a much more experienced team, towards the end of the game I was switched to the CT team when I was the leading T scorer and swapped out for a Mid ranked CT, the CT team then continued to dominate and I switched back to the T team to help even things out a couple of rounds later because I couldn’t stand hearing the constant calls of ‘Rape!’ from the CT side.
Through out all this the Balancer concentrated on keeping teams numbers fair, as often new comers stacked the winning team, but it allowed the CTs to have the extra man when one was available and also never moved either of the top two possibly three CT top scorers.
Also on a number of occasions over various maps the balancer would switch the losing teams top scorer to the winning team, instead of vice versa, which seemed a little like maybe an erroneous line in the code.
I’ll check it out.
As Kuros stated in another post. “The team balancer is a constantly evolving plugin.” We are trying different approaches to find out what works *best*. The issue of moving *one* person at a time on a 12v12 map was utterly pointless, it didn’t do anything.
The only reason I could think it didn’t move the top scorers is because they’d already been moved once, but again, I will check it.

Just to clarify, the rules ARE NOT, to split up clans, as has become the normal behaviour by admins. Its to stop team stacking, not clan stacking. It simply states that clans may be broken up because generally Clans like to stick together and therefore they will normally bear the brunt of these ‘moves of fairness’.The “I’m following the rules’ attitude is frankly bull. Its an excuse. Players get *edited*ed off all the time, they blame everything, and so do admins, and sometimes they even agree on a cause for the sake of having something to *edited* at. Recently DcPN have took a lot of flack because they were easy targets for blame, thankfully though the childish behaviour is on a decline (eg. Brackets been away a lot and not *edited* stiring
).Personally, I’d like to thank the DcPN guys for helping populate the server and for giving some *edited* decent games. And for all the times they’ve made the server a little more enjoyable by evening the teams.
Wrong. The last rule on the MOTD clearly states:
Do not join the winning/biggest team. Do not clan stack.
Thanks, have a nice day.

I’ve also seen this going down Liam, the one thing I would suggest is making it so if the teams cant be equal that the extra be given to the losing team, would that be hard to do?Shouldn’t be hard, but I believe it does that already. Or it does in the one I just recently released because it moves more than one person. I’ll check the code though and if the changes I just did dont help then we’ll do that. We are going from moving one person at a time up to x amt depending on how many people are on at the time.

Since I keep getting PMs everytime I log on, I’ll let you guys know what’s up so you don’t worry quite as much. My wife (whom almost all my campus peeps already know) is pregnant with our first. We are having a hard time finding a proper place to live around campus and she’s having a less than perfect pregnancy right now. She kinda needs me at her side, so that’s where I am going to be. I know the Club really needs a president with the faculty advisor leaving and a LAN that is less than a month away, but I have my priorities and they should be obvious. Until today, I didn’t even know if WCU was where I was going to be this week. I’ve been shuffling around looking at school in Hickory up until yesterday, all while having the most physically abusive full time job I could find. Most of you will see the weight difference since last semester when you see me this one. Peg and I made the decision to stay at Western last night.I hope you guys understand things a bit more clearly. I’m a jumbled up mess and I need to get rid of as much stress as possible. While I do e-heart the hell out of this club, it’s highly stressful on the one running it.
and so begins the end of the known world.

Congrats
