Ok everyone I just got off the phone with Adam and here is what is going to happen.
1. No one is losing their position. I believe that everyone misinterpreted what I have been trying to say in this thread,I never intented to let this sort of message off, which is why I wanted to hold a meeting to discuss it in the first place (I dont like dealing with these sort of things in the forums, I’ve been told I sometimes come off as hostile even though Im not meaning to lol). My intention for the meeting was to get the Alumni and concerned people to talk it out and see if we could all come to a consensus about what needed to be done. I tried to stay neutral for this because I wanted to understand how the Alumni feel about this and now I do. However, I did not prevent the constant berating and name calling on here, and for that I feel as if I have failed and I am sorry. But anyway no one is losing thier positions.
2. If we do have some interest from people here at WCU about running things, I am going to send them to an advisor to teach them (if they really want to do this). So now Im hoping that you guys are ready to teach some people how to do the stuff you do!
Well that seems about it, Adam if I forgot anything or didnt pharse something right do correct me. Oh and if anyone has any questions about anything else, feel free to shoot me a message. And if it isnt obvious, we arent going to have the meeting Thursday lol. Take care everyone.
Im still going to cancel this meeting since the LAN is next week, I dont need this drama, Im already stressed out enough as it is [we can talk about this in 2 weeks at the meeting after the LAN.]. Everything seems to have gotten out of hand and I think some of you are missing the point here. All I heard proposed was this:
If people on campus show an interest in taking over the duties of the Alumni (keeping the server up and what not), then we should let them. You guys seemed open to teaching people how to do these things in the beginning of the year so what changed? And Im not saying we dont need help from outside sources, because we do (Liam [welcome back buddy], Adam, Mitch all of you) BUT this is the WCU Gaming Club for the students of the school, and they should be able to learn how to do the things you guys do and do them if they want to.
I dont know where all this “your trying to destroy the PC side of the club” came from. Come on guys, stop over-reacting. My concern as far as this goes is that you guys seem too focused on people NOT here at Western and just your over all numbers. And we have advertised the servers, if you dont believe me look at our general fliers that we hung up last semester and at the beginning of this year (thanks Ephraim). And I tell people and get others to tell people to spread the word of the server, so I dont know what else to do.
So everyone just chill out, I’ll straighten things out here on campus and you guys just chill out here on the forums.
Sorry it took me so long to post, last night was a long night. And Adam, if you want to talk over the phone still, it’ll have to wait until I get out of class and am done hanging up fliers. That will be sometime around 5:00. Sorry if this isnt soon enough but I wanna go ahead and put up the fliers as soon as possible.
Adam I believe the issue here is a concern for the club considering the fact that SGA has the potential to break us apart. There is a chance, if these allegations about the Alumni running the server, are true, we could lose everything, and I think that is what this is all about. I am going to ask Casey about this today when I go get the fliers so if everyone could just hold off a a couple of hours, I will get an answer from the woman who works with them her self.
Another thing is (and I agree with Josh on this one) is that if we could convince people on campus to help do the things to run these forums/servers then by all means we should at least try to let them because, well, this is there server and it was originally made for the students on campus to play PC games right? If we could teach these students how to run the servers even a little bit, then we would not have to worry about this and the Alumni wouldn’t have to do so much to begin with AND these students would be picking up some useful skills along the way so it is a win-win. I guess what I’m trying to say is that we should give the students here at WCU the opportunity to run the servers if we could teach them and just let the advisers, like it says in the constitution, advise people along the way on what to do concerning these matters instead of doing them themselves.
Oh and as a side note, we are actually gonna have a meeting like 1-2 weeks after the LAN so I’m canceling this one. Sorry for the inconvenience everyone, it just slipped my mind that we were going to have another meeting right after the LAN anyway.
Oh and Adam, we need to talk about Ephraim’s permissions pertaining to the constitution. Thanks, and again, Im sorry for the mix up everyone.
Alumni dont worry, you will be heard, we will have this going on over IRC at least (Id like to get something a little better for this so any suggestions would be nice). And the reason that I am allowing this is because its not just one or two people that are mad/concerned about this, its quite a few people. And to be fair, I think they should be heard alongside the Alumni.
Say what you want about me in this but I’m remaining neutral, I wanna hear both sides to these concerns.
Yea, there was a pretty big discussion about it last night at the Saturday Mini-LAN. So I figured we should all get together and talk about it.

I can give you a couple reasons why Ronnie doesn’t want to do it anymore. Good choice on carter though, she is the lady that helps get funds from SGA right? That is definitely a great alternative. My advice on this is to start outsourcing CL jobs to off campus people, yes this creates more work for someone else to do when you do LANs but you can be confident that the person voted in will do a great job. I am pretty sure every person we have outsourced the job to has done a fantastic job, so if no one wants to step up you need to push it out to the community that does care. What other CL positions are open? I am doing nothing right now and would love to have something to focus my efforts on.
Sounds like a good idea to me. Well the TF2 CL position is up for grabs. If you want it Bitey, just try to pot here that you do before the meeting tonight and we’ll vote on it to make it official.

For the record: I’m pretty sure Mario Kart Wii was replaced with Guitar Hero. SoulCalibur IV was going to be hosted with or without Mario Kart.
Actually now that you mention it I think your right Ephraim, thanks (Micky is taking over my mind haha). Still though, it did VERY well and was one of and still is one of our most popular games at the LANs.
Well for one Mitch, tell me where exactly it was that I said that I didn’t care about the PC side of the club. All I said was that the games suggested for the new server were pretty much the same games you guys are playing now, and its true. I didnt say I didnt want to support the PC side of the club, I do and I want to try to revitalize it. But I cant do this *edited* on my own, I need help.
And as far as CLs go, like I have said many a time before, I practically had to beg everyone at the meeting to take the positions open for the PC side of the club. Hell I even posted a thread on here a week or 2 before the meeting started and still, with the exception of like one or two people, practically nothing.
As far as the Advisers go, Im just letting go of Ronny, he told me he didnt want to do it anymore. I wanted to find someone on campus who I see a lot and Carter is one of these people.
About Keith. I know you practically set up the meeting for me to talk to him but for the past couple of weeks, but I have been busy with classes and such. Now you can sit there and say whatever you want about however many hours your taking, all the stuff your doing, but frankly I dont care. Ive been busy with classes (which is more important than this club to me, priorities, I have to make good grades to keep my financial aid) and gaming club stuff on top of having to take Kelley to doctors appointments because she keeps having seizures for some reason. So about Keith, Ill get to him when I can, my priorites are line, this club is not going to be my life. If you think i should only care about this club and ONLY this club, vote to remove me from office.

This coming from the guy who told me Soul Calibur IV would be a bad game to replace Mario Kart Wii because Mario Kart Wii had better sells. LOL. I’ve tried to go through with some of the things you have suggested but sometimes, it does not work out or isnt very popular among the majority of people that show up to the meetings. But Mitch, I’ve always given it to you straight, whether it be on these forums or in person. You on the other hand never brought things up in person that you didnt like, but instead waited to get on the forums and complain about it. So yea, if you want to come up here and talk to me about this because you think it will make me see things your way, be my guest, I live in Central C Hall 126 B.
Me lazy? AHAHAHAHAHA what a *edited*ing joke. Im sorry there are more presing matters at hand right now than me talking to Keith about getting the new server you seem to want so much. You act as if this new server is going to be the saving grace of the PC side of club but you dont know that it will. From what the poll suggested, all you guys seem to want is more of the same stuff and how the hell is that going to help?
This isnt to say that I’m not going to do this because I will, but only after Im done handling our LAN stuff.
And as far as the whole lazy thing goes, think again. Ive been trying to find us a new Advisor since school started and no one seemed to want to do it (unitl today, I got Casey Carter to do it for us). I couldnt get in touch with EITHER of the other two. Why is this so important you might ask? Well SGA has enacted this new policy to where you have to get the club advisors signiture to pretty much do anything (like reservering the grand room, trying to get purchase orders and putting up fliers). Advertising for the LAN has always been a main focus of mine and therefore that is more of a prioity to me than the new server. But not only that, Ive been talking to Bring It’s campus rep about sponsering us at the upcoming LAN (which they are) and Im finally going to get the oppertunity to follow up with Papa’s about another sponsership deal. Ive also been overseeing the rule formation for our tournaments and have been following through with SGA on the Grand Room amoung other things. So dont you DARE say that I have been lazy, I bust my *edited* for this club all the time and have sacrificed many hours for this club and I would happily do it all again.

He wasnt here today but from what I heard from his girlfriend Kelly, there was some kind of mixup at gamestop and he long story short, his game didnt work. He’s getting a replacement and should be on soon.
