I really don’t care what happens to the modifiers, Kuros changed them and if the shotgun gets changed back then every single gun needs to go back to their default.

Thats nice… how about an explaination or reasoning for that statement? I mean if you don’t care like you say, why should anyone take what you say seriously?

Erm, no the deagle is at 1.2 the same as all the other pistols…

Look at the stats (actually I should assume you’ve already done this, but everything said thus far points to that assumption being wrong), the M3 is the primary weapon of one person, outside of that its used half effectively by a handful of people.

Now what leads you to believe its some sort of super newb weapon? That anyone and everyone is using to upset the balance of the server? That needs to be detrimented to force well ranked players to choose other weapons (which actually just means that only newbs can use it to play the point system with – something which is quite a backwards approach considering all thats been said about it…)

Its far less of a stretch to see this as singling out an individual because he has 2000+ kills with a gun that no one else can even come close to matching his skill with. If this is as its being presented a 1 shot kill, newb-anyone can use-gun, why is there only one case that reflects this?

Stat wise the M3 Shotgun is less effective than the common M4 and AK, with what seems to be a much higher learning curve that only one person has completed.

The stats go against all arguements presented against the weapon, nullifies all the *edited*ing that its only for newbs who cant aim and makes the the lowering of its point MOD look very much like an act thats only going to impact one person.

Hannah: Heh, yeah we should all just use the same gun, that’ll make the game more enjoyable for everyone… fail :P

We’re playing a Game and yet we don’t know how to have fun, we don’t know how to let loose? Hmm, okay Kuros… Why wouldn’t breaking the rules you lay out cause a problem? I thought thats why there were rules in the first place, to avoid problems? No? I thought these were the rules servers have so that we can all enjoy the game – not just those who want to cut loose regardless of who’s fun they interrupt in the process.

I completely agree. Currently the server is just used as a playground with little or no regard for the community at large that sustains it, the same community that is held up like a trophy to justify the self absorption that permeates many questionable decisions.

Brian is supposedly the CS:S Council Leader, it strikes me odd that all the negative things of late have bypassed him in some way when its supposed to be his job to foresee negative consequences of actions to decide whether they’re appropriate or not.

Currently theres a feudal system in place with Lord Kuros on top and his Barons who wield as much power as friendships allow with very little regard for the rules, systems of administration or morale groundings that should be being used to benefit and improve the Club and further the goals it originally set out with.

I’m not saying that to have people with overriding power is a bad thing, but the club has systems in place to stop that from becoming a bad thing, and they’re being ignored.

It would bother me if I was singled out and basically mistreated based on the fact the weapon I constantly use wasn’t ‘liked’ by an insignificantly sized group of people…

Fine, take the game we all love and turn it into the game a select few enjoy. More than most people I get my *edited* handed to me by shot guns, I’ve never complained once about that as its within the realms of the game. And I still die probably 3x as much to people with the awp and deagle combo.

This whole thing seems more about getting at a few people who use the gun efffectively than the weapon itself… I frankly fail often with the shottie, its not some sort of super weapon unless in the right hands, same with the awp, the AK, the UMP even. In fact there are many people who use the shottie and come no where near the effectiveness of Renton, so really if its the High Kills and Shotgun combo you’re all so angry about, why don’t you just place the modifier directly on people like Renton? – Oh wait, that would be too obvious.

Kinda annoying that a handful of people mess the points around and over a thousand people have to be the ones to suffer for it?

Meh.. I could copy and paste my last post on this subject but no one gave a crap then, so I doubt they do now. New approach,

‘Senior’ Admin has made a bad choice – ‘Lesser’ Admin and all the unimportant non-WCU players now have to put up with crap, deal with not knowing the right course of action to be taken at all times and have to second guess themselves over a really pathetic issue. And, when people start complaining louder than Lecarl can play music I’m sure then we’ll see some proper action being taken – mutes and kicks for people angry at someone breaking the rules, I’m sure…

The rule of thumb I’ve gone by for a while now that might help a lot of people is, when Kuros is on the server, the rules are fluid, so go with the flow. Other than that, work with the admins on the server, everyone else is happy to explain whats going on. An Admin who has just logged in should check (where possible) with the admins already in place, simply as polite protocol and because it saves toes from being stepped on with the way things are currently.

In game voice is extremely hard to moderate in comparison to text and its always had a lot of freedom in regards to what can be said and other things people can get away with. It’s gotta be worth pulling in the reins now rather than handing out excessive bans later once people push to whats looking like a much more lax boundary for whats acceptable – I don’t think this impression is suppose to be there, but it is an effect of recent events.

I used to love the P90… was awesome with it, then went through months of just unexplainable sucking with it. Used it last night and was sniping headshots with it and spray worked rather than only hitting one time with a 50 bullet clip like I had been previously.. kinda loving the P90 again (Disclaimer: When it works).

Because it just encourages other people to A. Play there own or B. To complain louder than the music, about the music. :/

Personally, I thought Lecarl was pretty funny friday night with his well executed, well timed clip plays. But – you can’t expect every player or every admins opinion to be the same on a subject like this. It’s outside the rules, permission to break the rules just creates conflicts with the foundation that makes the server what it is.

It’s ashame that this is the subject that comes up for Mic abuse, because I think a lot more people are more annoyed and more frequently annoyed by people with excessive* background noise or people who converse through each and every round constantly and become detrimental to play outside of their 2-3 person conversation.

    * excessive, greater than what is normal. Not slight hums etc. Normally those things that fall within the boundary of disregard for other players and are avoidable – eg. Kingback’s background music and other random outbursts.

I’m not 100% on what the official position on Fire is, although it does seem to be on the bleak side of things… Though a number of people do have support for the map. Perhaps a vote is in order just to get a clear reading on the overall active server opinion?

For people who like to shout “OMfG! Gheey! Personally, I’ve done the same thing. Aimed where I thought I should be aiming and on occasion done pretty well (might have even been 3 headshots), and… on occasion, not. I can’t 100% see the validity behind a ban based on a demo that seemingly cannot be seen as 100% or atleast 99% conclusive. If it had been me in Sushi’s situation, everyone would have had a great laugh and that would be it, because unlike Sushi I’m crap the rest of the time.

Personally, I’d love to catch Sushi hacking – as it would greatly benefit my kill:death ratio to do so. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to see anything I could pin down as hacking from Sushi, and if he is/was wall hacking etc I wouldn’t need a flash demo to confirm it. Same as with Enduro and a number of other players who out perform beyond what I would like to see as the limits of my own potential.

Is a shame that Sushi feels the way he does, and that his reluctancy to fight based on his past experiences and preceived future ones can be construed negatively as guilt. We’ll never know whether guilt is the reason, because in my mind, as I’m sure is the same for quite a few people, headshots while flashed doesn’t unilaterly mean hacking. Especially with the lack of total consistency between demos and client end gameplay, and the fact that not everyone panics and sprays when flashed, knowing that sometimes remaining calm, collected and accurate is the best option.

Good calls, the opinions thus far highlight well the different tastes that could need to be catered for. Potentially one of these maps could suit the majority of people, or we atleast know what the majority is looking for in the end, perhaps instead having 2 quality awp maps available on server in the future to cover more bases? (as it does look like there will be atleast two definitive camps on what map makes using the awp fun).

I can agree with a lot of the critism for subzero, although being a relatively big step away from something worse towards something better, it is far from perfect, though the best style for an awp map is really something that the concerned majority are going to have to try and agree on.

Garden looks good. But there are shades of awp map to consider. I’II try and point out some of the variety.

    http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/4570 india_v2

    http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/22756 india_v4

    http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/23514 dust_sky

smaller than the original awp map but in a similar style, but a lot more dynamic gameplay wise due to more elaborate level design. v4 being a further step towards reflex close up fighting than v2. dust_sky is a variant of the same concept.

    http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/18042 galaxy

an anti rush awp map, feels almost like playing Unreal Tournement. Could very well suit the tastes of some people due to its emphasis on aim and similar play style of awp_map.

    http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/5118 islands

a partially anti rush awp map, better for slower tactical play, for those more concerned about aim rather than intelligent solo strategizing or it’s good for those concerted team efforts.

    http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/6731 zippo

described accurately as a paintball style map. One of the larger maps, promotes good aim over rushing without entirely removing the opportunity to do so.

    http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/15043 island

similar to the above, but with a lot more vertical elements to consider and a more interesting layout with slightly improved access for crossing the map.

    http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/25332 hunting4

its a hunting map, you search out the other team and gun them down with the awp, good mix of range and cq action, could be a great map imo. The rest of the hunting maps and the dream maps are worth looking at if you like this.

    Now for something completely different,

    http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/7400 the_wall

An FY map that plays extremely-extremely well as an awp, knife combo map. It really is fun and also a well put together map. Personally I’d go for something like this, but it is a large step away from the point ATM style of play of the original awp_map so may not appeal to all.

    Also alternatively, theres awp_monoploy… http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/11163

I’m gunna leave it there for now.

    MOVED from… http://www.wcugaming.org/forums/index.php?…ost&p=18801

Sounds reasonable. Not sure about ‘client specific’ messages though via normal means, though once the balancer is sorted to apply changes the second before respawn it wouldn’t really matter anyway. Sounds like a smart idea overall.

Having the message server wide with the timings the way they are… well, it would create some interesting scenarios… heh.

Along the same lines, how about some sort of warning message 15 seconds prior to map vote? I’ve seen quite a few people recently get aggrivated and leave because they don’t like the map choice and it generally coincides with a number of people not knowing the vote had taken place (potentially accidently voting for something) and those who state they voted while switching weapons mid round.

    Other possible solutions include;

Having the map vote start after there is less than 4 minutes of map time left AND when a balance occurs, so that it would be at roughly the second from last rounds beginning?

Or giving the map vote window a primary screen that says something along the lines of, Press 0 to vote for a new map.

Or move the map vote number choices to 7890, as far as I’m aware it was only blu3 who actively used those keys, which is still an improvement over 99% of the server potentially making mistakes in their map choice.

Thanks for the reasoning blu3, I think everyones going to miss you on the server, you made it a less stressful place to get our asses handed to ourselves.

Any chance of keeping us updated from time to time? Maybe, once you’re eager to get back, we could organise a small donation pot between some of the servers blu3 <3’ers or something to make things easier for you?

What sort of work would be required to give some more intelligence to map voting? As in perhaps, giving maps tags like for their size, or their Prefix_. So that when there are only 12 players or less small maps are chosen for the vote and along with the de_ maps there is always one alternative_ prefixed map up for the vote?

Not that map voting doesn’t work fine right now, and not that this is something to prioritise over anything else, but might it be a potential improvement at some point?

Right now though, the TeamBalancer seems to be the best its ever been imo, so congrats and very nice work.

It’s a shame the remake doesn’t take advantage of the source engine as much as it could, but as is it should run really well. And if it plays the same as the old siege it should be alright.

There are obviously better looking maps, and maybe ones that have a little bit more too them, but as you say Sushi, more hostage maps is a good thing, and decent ones are in short supply on the server right now.

Hey Sushi, thanks for making no relevant point to what I said, yet still having something negative to say about me. :P As for you Korus, obviously I don’t have to ‘try’ to talk over ‘some’ peoples heads :/ Its just the way it is, Sushi by way of example. As for having no idea what I’m talking about, I obviously know more of you, than you know of me, so thats an unfair judgement.

I think certain people would agree though, that ‘throwing’ maps up isn’t the best way to present them. It may very well be the easiest, and it may very well be successful under certain circumstance, but… Well, I guess if you like not improving the chances of successfully chosing maps that work for your server then, throwing is the way to go.

Actually the available version of Fire is a remake that should take 32 players max and it’s a close quarter map with a vast number of routes to be taken – with 12v12 it would be pleasant mania, the map is much like Russka, except

    A. Not Crap.

    B. Fault Free.

    C. It’s got more of everthing

    D. It plays extremely well.

    E. It looks like nothing else available on the line up and at 10mbs that’s an amazing accomplishment.

It plays really well, even with large numbers of players – could it be any worse than italy blitz?

    —

Itatly *tactik2, is a great remake of Italy that makes the gameplay more intense and addresses a lot of the issues inregards to the CTs being rounded up into kill zones for the T team. It’s just not worth having Italy and Italy tactik2 on one server (as Lucky implies), I would instantly go for tactik2, but there are going to be atleast a few people who will whine instantly if italy was removed. Tactik2 also plays better with 24 players than Italy.

Any chance of a reconsideration on these two?
