Been fun for the past six months or so folks, WCU has been a pretty great place to play my favorite game. Got to hand it to the gaming club, the server is set up well and for some reason keeps a lot of veteran players coming back. All the regulars make the server what it is, you guys know who you are. It’s been fun being a part of that community, I’m sure I’ll play with most of you in the future. Peace!

It can also be construed as an admission of guilt as well.

What’s the point Bitey? I appealed the first time I was wrongfully banned, I shoudn’t have to do it again. You guys are awesome, and I always enjoyed playing WCU, but at the end of the day I don’t appreciate being punished for skill or luck, and I’m not saying I’m the best player in the world. As bracket pointed out, if certain people hold all the authority to decide this kind of stuff, and certain of them are unclear about what a hacker is in Counter-Strike, then I can’t do anything more on this one server than say goodbye to the regulars and play elswhere. Everyone on WCU including all the admins know I don’t hack in this game, it just makes no sense for a player who’s been with CS since long before Steam even existed to wallhack or aimbot or whatever it is I’m being accused of. My old school CS friends would think I’m wasting my time even posting this thread, but I have had a lot of fun on WCU and I can’t just leave without a word. Alas, I don’t believe it’s worth my time to fight against a ban so random and uncalled for that it clearly should not have been issued in the first place, not when it would likely just happen again down the road. If the ban is lifted, great: I’ll pop in here and there and play, whatever. I’ve played and adminned so many servers in the past that I’m not gunna cry about this one just because I was banned for being pretty good at CS, this is far from the first time it’s happened. One thing that bugs me, and I’ll say it because it’s been cracking me up for the past few days, is that I was banned based on a demo of me playing an extremly subpar round of CS, in my opinion. I wasn’t in the zone, I wasn’t playing that well for my standards. I’d rather get the boot for doing something insane, I mean why couldn’t a 7-kill headshot-only team ace with a bomb defusal have gotten on the demo? Things don’t always work out in your favor, sadly. :D

This demo we have unfortunately showed you aiming while flashed and then getting 2 headshots, completely blind, while yes this can be done, but the difference is people normally just sprayed, you on the other hand took careful aim and did 3 shot bursts with the ak, in this particular circumstance we had no choice. I am sorry it happened and like I said I will miss you but when I watched that demo I won’t hide the fact that I was pretty upset.

Personally, I’ve done the same thing. Aimed where I thought I should be aiming and on occasion done pretty well (might have even been 3 headshots), and… on occasion, not. I can’t 100% see the validity behind a ban based on a demo that seemingly cannot be seen as 100% or atleast 99% conclusive. If it had been me in Sushi’s situation, everyone would have had a great laugh and that would be it, because unlike Sushi I’m crap the rest of the time.

Personally, I’d love to catch Sushi hacking – as it would greatly benefit my kill:death ratio to do so. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to see anything I could pin down as hacking from Sushi, and if he is/was wall hacking etc I wouldn’t need a flash demo to confirm it. Same as with Enduro and a number of other players who out perform beyond what I would like to see as the limits of my own potential.

Is a shame that Sushi feels the way he does, and that his reluctancy to fight based on his past experiences and preceived future ones can be construed negatively as guilt. We’ll never know whether guilt is the reason, because in my mind, as I’m sure is the same for quite a few people, headshots while flashed doesn’t unilaterly mean hacking. Especially with the lack of total consistency between demos and client end gameplay, and the fact that not everyone panics and sprays when flashed, knowing that sometimes remaining calm, collected and accurate is the best option.

The incident Bitey mentioned above is not the only evidence in the demo. The demo also shows other incidents where it was apparent that some form of “cheat” was being used to aid Sushi in determining where people were coming from and/or to help him aim. The flash incident could just have been luck, sure everyone gets lucky every once in a while, but the demo showed a prominent and careful precision aim by Sushi while he was currently flashed.

Ditto Renton :D add me to ur friends if you haven’t before, xsushi@hotmail.com.

And thank you Pink for putting it well, glad to see someone level headed.

And Bitey: If you would take another look at the kill indicators in that demo, you’d notice that this “two totally blind AK headshots” thing I keep hearing about it is actually one half-blind kill. There’s no difference to me between half-blind and not blind at all in CS. And in that particular situation, where it’s obvious where the enemy team is, why is it surprising to anyone that I got kills?. And as pink pointed out, unfortunately there is discrepancy between demos and client side play, that’s just going to happen in a game that moves so fast and requires such precision like CS. I hate it that you’re upset about it, same with Brian, but I can tell you the truth about this whole matter because I’m an honest person: I’ve never hacked in this game. I don’t care what the demo shows, it’s worthless and is possibly one of the worst examples of a supposedly ban-worthy demo I have ever seen, and I’ve taken my share of demos with which to ban people with. I know what a hacker looks like. There need not be some big mystery here, no one needs to be saying “I guess we’ll never know” because I’m laying this to rest right now: I do not cheat.

Oh, and this miracle grenade on blue that is just supposedly sure-thing evidence of me walling is me being a reasonably smart player, and throwing a lucky grenade. Notice that blue still killed me though, because, and you can see this in the demo, the grenade for some reason didn’t make that damage sound effect, so I figured no one was there. Which is why I strafed in a wide manner with my crosshair flicked to the right instead of turning into the corner the way I would if I had known he was there. Again, there is nothing conclusive about this demo. And that’s why I’ve been laughing about it.

Half-blind? The screen was completely white… are you using any configs to play with? Or perhaps did you change the dx version you are using?

I was totally blind for maybe one second, after which it was just that source fade-away effect thing, I can sometimes see through that. And I want to point this out: Does me being blind mean the game doesn’t exist during that duration? Am I not allowed to fire my weapon at a location where I’m almost certain a T might be strafing at that instant? Anyway, you’ll notice that 2 seconds later I get flashed again and that time, since I needed to reload anyway, I did in fact back into a corner and look away. The blind headshot thing is just not a reason for this snap decision, and like I said, why after six months of me playing regularly on this server is that kill even surprising? Why is my shooting into a wall surprising, I knew there were enemies behind it. This whole thing is being too heavily looked into, too blown out of proportion, and I’m afraid people are just seeing things that are not there.

It’s also strange to me that people such as Liam, Brian, Fascist, Bitey, etc., would think I’m cheating after months of playing together. Some are more regular players than others but I just assumed I was free to play the game like I play it.

You didn’t answer my question, I am trying to find out possible reasons why the flash didn’t last long for you, but lasted longer in the demo.

    Sushi,

No offense dude, I like you as a person and you were a lot of fun to game with, but there was more in that demo that was sketchy as hell than just the flashed shots. I’m not really going into it, I see no reason to. You haven’t bothered to appeal and so its nobody’s problem but your own. Again, I’m sorry, I wish you the best, but I saw what I saw just as others saw it and I even turned speed down to almost 0 and enabled sv_cheats so I could wireframe the walls and watch bullets track. *shrug*. Again, I’m sorry for whatever its worth, and on that note I’ve said all I had to say.

Well Bitey, I don’t know. Im running in DX9, settings high, there shouldn’t be any confusion. I don’t remember the flash being shorter for me or not when I played this round. Normally when I’m in that kind of situation with obvious enemy presence and possibility of death, I just keep burst firing where I think people might be, blind or not. Pink mentioned this.

And I don’t know what to say Liam, the demo is like three minutes long if that, I only get three kills the entire time. For someone of my experience level and amount of time logged in this server, one little demo is far from enough to put this to rest. There’s something else sketchy? Half the demo is me just standing around, messaging people on friends. This whole situtation is just hilarious to me. And what do you suggest me do, appeal this nonsense ban so I can get some snide remark in my face?

Indeed, the flash was fairly long and it was TWO kills, first one, then someone else made a kill inbetween you and your next kill.

Sushi, appeal the Ban please. I whole-heartedly want to play with you again on wcu. It’s where i met you, got to know you even. Soon after which, you were on such good terms with me and brian, that you allowed us to be admins on your own server (THE TREEHOUSE ROCKS!). Which reminds me, lets get that pub populated man, should be a fun time.

I have not seen the demo yet, because i am a nub when it comes to doing anything with computers(as most of my friends here know). But who hasent gotten as lucky as sushi in the demo, as described by bitey, brian, liam… ext. there has been days where ive been completely on, going 35 and 3 on nuke or 65 and 7 on sk. no offenese to the regulars on the sever, but you all should be able to back me up on this, that we do get quite alot of noobs on this server who act like soldiers and line up for easy headshots. Blind or Unblind, it truely doesnt matter sometimes.

So, i back you completely Sushi and want to see you on WCU in the Future.

Someone has that nade on a demo? I never cared enough to spectate you — too busy stealing/planting the bomb — but that nade was a major-BS moment. Sure, it could have been entirely random, but as I remember it that sort of random is few and far between:

I pick up the bomb outside of long A on cbble. I then walk, very slowly and deliberately, through long A, not seeing a single CT. I did not walk straight through — I glanced at corners, I paused here and there, and slowly but surely made my way to plant. As I am walking towards the bombsite-side of long A a grenade comes and lands at my feet for ~ 56 damage. There’s no way my shadow was involved and I could have been pretty much anywhere on the map at that point. I hadn’t seen anyone for 20-30 seconds (maybe less — time always slows down when it’s creepy crawly time).

So, could you have miraculously thrown a grenade at my feet for 56 damage? Sure, but when I saw the nade coming I literally yelled WHAT-THE-*edited*. After that I wanted to spec, or maybe I did, but holy poop it was strange.

If there is a demo I’d be tempted to reinstall (already) just to watch it.

Some blatant spinning/speedbot hackers are less BS than that nade was ;)

But again, like I said earlier, *edited* like that does happen …

Thx for the kind words folks :)

Brian, it was one kill, I wasn’t even blind for the first one. Watch the demo. That’s the thing about this demo, if you watch it with wireframe on it’s even more obvious I’m not cheating. If I was hacking, wouldn’t I have actually done something that looks like hacking? I wouldn’t do just enough to convince some admins, wouldn’t I actually be pinpointing people through walls, or at least following them, or snapping to heads or something?

Bitey, there is nothing third party installed in my cstrike folder other than custom maps.

And Blue! Blue blue blue! It was a lucky grenade. I was at middle when you say you were checking corners in side hall, and a little too much time had passed and B was clear, so where else could you be but side hall? So I was going to run in and kill you, I threw a grenade first, apparently it hit you but I didn’t hear it do so, you killed me because of that. So when you were calling bull*edited* on the mic, so was I because CS robbed me of a kill :D I’ll send you the demo blue. It’s not like I was standing there waiting for you, and if you’ve never seen me do some “few and far between” BS before, it’s because we never played that much together. Goat knows what I’m talking about, I’ve thrown amazing grenades on that guy in the past lol. Compared to some of that stuff, as I said, this thing was a stupid, lucky grenade.

And Davey, to me it’s less important being banned or not from the WCU pub than setting the record straight, I don’t want people thinking I hack in this game. It’s funny and or cool when people accuse me in pubs, but on this place where all the regs know me, it’s insulting. The only persons claiming I hack are the ones with all the power, so if I appeal either they’d immediately unban me because they have no proof and they should know not to even suspect me by now, or they’d tell me to GTFO because they’ve decided how they handle skilled players on this server. My initial feeling when I was banned this time was that the admins had just decided they had had enough of me and wanted me gone. That’s what I’m still feeling now. I’m not an unfriendly person to play with, am I? I couldn’t think of another reason other than some of them are pretty bad at CS, and have banned players for being good in the past. One reason I asked for admin on the server in the past, besides the fact that hackers only came on when there were no admins it seemed, and protection from the other admins of course, was the idea that maybe I could stop that from happening to other veteran players. As you know Dave the only reason I put in time at WCU was that the regs are awesome. I made suggestions for the team balancer, suggestions for new maps (thx for puttin strata on, now more people will know about it), and that kind of stuff here on the forums so the environment could be better, but obviously I wouldn’t have bothered with it if the player base didn’t always make the games fun as hell. We can still play Davey, and we have, but WCU won’t be the place for it, not considering that decent, honest players are punished on it for nothing. That’s not something I’m putting up with. Besides, as Kappa said, it’s probably time to let someone else be #1.

i’ve watched the demo… i think its pretty inconclusive honestly… sometimes people get lucky (i know this from personal experience)… i’ve taken aim while blind, why not at least try and kill them instead of give up? and also i’ve prefired and naded where i thought people would be / be hiding, just in case… before i ran into the opposition… your basing all this on one demo?

The thing that really gets me is that regardless of all the demo’s and speccing and what not, sushi plays amazingly no matter what… even when you accuse him of hacking, he plays just as well when your not accusing him or speccing him… he’s just a good player imho… yet you all try and “catch” him… he’s just good all the time

i will miss you sushi… it was great playing with you, and i really, really hope you can to come back
