Welcome to the kick-off of “Metal Gear Mondays” on PlayStation.Blog! Here we’ll be bringing weekly articles about Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Online packed with news and content including surprise announcements, guest authors, and much more!
This week we’ll go into a lot of detail on Metal Gear Online and the upcoming MGO Beta. You must attain a free pre-order bonus gift “Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2″ DVD with MGO Beta Unique Product Voucher Code (UPVC) insert to participate in the MGO Beta as explained in our post last week.
If you have attained a MGO Beta UPVC, then Thursday, April 17th, this week, the download of the MGO Beta client will be available to you through the PlayStation Store on your PS3 (but please bear in mind, gameplay does not start until April 21st , and then will run until May 5th) – again, please do not try to redeem your UPVC before April 17th, you will just get an error message. You need to carefully follow the instructions provided on the MGO Beta UPVC insert in order to get at the download of the MGO Beta client through the PlayStation Store on your PS3. It is also important to note that your UPVC for the MGO Beta is good for only one PS3/PSN/PlayStation Store account, so you should absolutely NOT share your UPVC with anyone (unless you plan to forfeit your MGO Beta to whoever you give the UPVC to). There will not be any additional issue/reissue, replacement, etc of these codes – so again, we stress, please DO NOT share your UPVC for the MGO Beta with anyone!
Once you’ve got the MGO Beta client downloaded and installed, it’s time to load it up. Upon launching and going past the main menu, you’ll see that you need to sign up for a Konami ID. What is a Konami ID you ask? It is Konami’s service that has actually been around for a while in Japan, which basically allows for a unified account and access across various Konami products and services. Konami ID will be used for the first time in MGO for the US, and using the Konami ID allows for some of the really unique features we plan to offer the community with MGO. Once you hit the Konami ID sign up menu option, you should notice something subtle, but really cool: MGO launches the PS3 web browser from in-game and takes you to the Konami ID registration page. You can also simply visit http://id.konami.net from your favorite Web browser right now and sign up as well, to get a head start!

I was very happy and impressed with the overall tournout and even happier when I saw the PS3 section setup and arrive. That was totally unplanned for and absolutely wonderful!I hope that we can see more of the PS3 players at the next meeting suggesting tournaments to startup for the console section.
3 of the people came up to me today and yesterday said they were definatly comeing to the meetings so thats 3 new people so far and that was in response to the success of the ps3s at the lan

I agree. I’d wait it out and buy the full version whenever it hit shelves in presumably in ’09. Racing is cool and all, but I don’t want to have to re-buy the game in the next year or so to get the full experience. I’d just spend the $40 on something else or save up and get R6:V2.Thats understandable but the rest maybe in downloadable addons or somthing, and once they are all out they will release another version that includes all the addons avalible for retail sale, kinda like a bundle pack…either way after playing it its worth it and i want to play it now as well and plus the amarican version comes with 30more cars, better online system, more music trax, more tracks, more ways to tune vehicles, and a few other things.

SpectatorWhat i cant figure out and nobody can seem to figure out is how the game is not able to fit on one 50Gb blueray disk…some people think its an adversing ploy….Then again I got a trailer for this game back in 2004 and didnt even know it, i got ifrom the playstation mag. at this time nobody even knew there was a ps3 around the corner so i assumed it was some how gonna be on ps2, but i was wrong. Its to bad i lost the dvd but my friend says he has it…They did say that they had to move the jap and french voice overs out of the game and make 3 separate editions….Then again I

im only talking about the next lan event and maybe even the next…as free play until it is seen that there is an interest dispite what people say at the meetings and on here and dispite what even u said…eventually tournaments need to come about but we are not gettng the true oppinion of the people as a whole at the meetings as of yet…there is to many people that dont care enough to come because one group has pushed the others out and away and if there the only one there with diffrent ideas…why bother…its why i stoped coming for a whileits not about the ps3 its about doing somthing diffrent im tired of playing the same stuff and apparently so are the other members other than the 15 people that show up to the meetings…does this clear some things up?

Wait, are you talking about free play? You are already allowed to bring a PS3 to the LANs or invite people to play it somewhere at any time. I’m not getting what the issue is here.im only talking about the next lan event and maybe even the next…as free play until it is seen that there is an interest dispite what people say at the meetings and on here and dispite what even u said…eventually tournaments need to come about but we are not gettng the true oppinion of the people as a whole at the meetings as of yet…there is to many people that dont care enough to come because one group has pushed the others out and away and if there the only one there with diffrent ideas…why bother…its why i stoped coming for a while

Then you have no room to talk. I live in Atlanta and I show up.What are you talking about…what does your comute have to do with anything…they dont show up because nobody else does…i have the support and will have more by the lan event, but it will be a slower process to get them to participate in the meetings but mostly on here…when it does it will have an effect on club particapation as a whole. I feel like im saying the same crap over and over again…read up

Then they need to speak up in the meetings! They dont show up, for the same reason i stoped showing up about a year ago.

We have to sacrifice the cost of having some games not on the roster because we don’t have the time to do a tournament for all of them. Granted there is always free play. PC has reduced the number of tournaments and now consoles are doing the same. Just so we have time to finish the tournaments and to foster free play time into the LAN events. If we added every game we wanted to play to the list of tournaments, yeah it would draw masses of people. But we don’t have the time to run 20-30 + tournaments.
your looking at it all wrong its not about the tournaments…your right tournaments should be scalled back…but that doesnt mean you can organize your own thing while your at the lan…thats what iv always done…and thats what im gonna do at the next lan weather or not a tournament for the ps is voted in…its about fun..not prizes

Fine, than get them to show up at a meeting or join the forums. If there are enough people, I’m sure we can squeeze the PS3 in somewhere. However, unless there are a whole lot of folks that want to see Resistance or something in the tournaments, I doubt they will be set up any time soon–after all, we are trying to scale back on the total number of tournaments.I dont care about the “offical” tournaments you can do them at the lan if people want to….And the only way to fix this is to get them to show up…and maybe slowly they will start coming on here…but one step at a time…and i asked around it was about 2 dozen the last lan and i got alot of positve feed back on resistance, bowling, super stardust, and others…. and thats how i found out some people actually had them that i didnt even know about…and i asked them why they dont bring them and they say the same thing i do….nobody else does…and one person isnt enough…this will change…oh and as a bonus…i got feed back on what people wanted to play on pc…and suprisingly most mentioned RTS and specifically starcraft, even though i dont particularly care for it

How is PC still an issue? This is a Gaming Club. That means all gaming platforms, be it a PC or a Console. I personally play both but I like my PC more than anything else.GAMESSSSSS…like i said i dont think anything should be removed from the club…but instead things should be added

SpectatorEphraim said:
There is nothing wrong with enjoying the PS3, but until more than two people in the club own the system, there is no reason to incorporate them into the tournaments. Aside from free-play, they serve no purpose in the LANs.Dude there a lot more than u think….its the whole reason the club is the way it is….it became a chain reaction like i said…when people find out that the club isnt interested in things like ps3 and other pc games they wont show up to lans or to the meetings..and one person isnt enough to change that because if one shows up out of the large boddy it wont do any good..we got to get these people to come forward together and not individually

Josh, if you know that people who want to play PS3 games at the LAN then you need to show that there is support for the consoles and games. When it comes to meetings or the forums, there are only one or two people that have/play PS3. Unfortunately the majority of college students don’t have the money to purchase a PS3, therefore it is the least played console. If you bring people you know who want to play PS3 console games to the LANs, FORUMS and MEETINGS the club will see a demand for the console and game, but when one or two people are the only ones who want it, it’s hard to add a competition into the LAN when nobody had ever played the game…Allready ahead of u…Iv got 4definates and 3 more possiblilities that i know of…doing this will fix an area of the problems…iv got that undercontrol…but pc is still the big issue once these things are fixed people will show up to meetings and people will show up to lans, even people that dont go here

Starting *edited* on here is not the way to get things done. All you have managed to do in this post is make yourself look foolish and arrogant.
When we talked at the LAN, this is not the approach we advised you to take. I remember Adam saying to bring it up in the meeting. I suggested you get active on here and discuss things, not cause a giant stir.
wtf…how? did u not even read anything i said

It also doesn’t help you’re case when you enter in with hostility or just ranting and raving about the PS3’s superiority and listing the inferiority of other systems. You get defensive when people bash the PS3, other people get defensive when you bash their systems too. Also, you never propose any sort of solution or any suggestions to the club. The only thing that I know of that you’ve requested is a Resistance tournament. And after polling the rest of the community several times, there is no general interest in it at all. Don’t say I haven’t. YOU have been to the meetings to witness it or make a case and platform for your suggestions there. From what I’ve heard, you proclaim that we’re anti-Sony, Pro-Xbox, etc. I haven’t heard this from you, but I have my sound arguments why we don’t have any PS3 tournaments. If you have a problem with a system, address those in charge. You’ve yet to approach me about anything other than your questions at the LAN, which I addressed my reasons there. And then I heard how you’ve ranted to Adam about changes. I’ve yet to hear ANY of the suggestions regarding consoles, and should I not be the first you go to? Instead, you go to the people who possess more power. I have made myself available to all members of the community, to address their questions and concerns, to hear out their suggestions, and to provide my personal input or stance if needed or requested. If you ask a majority of the people of this club, they will agree. All I ask is that you respect me enough to address me first. If you feel that I haven’t performed my duties as Console President to the abilities after speaking with me, THEN confront the executive staff.
You missunderstand me as well……i put that up there to cause a sturr..and the best way was to talk abou that.

If you love the PS3, fine. But understand r that very few people here feel that way and don’t want to be hassled for their opinions.
I dont really appriciate what u said but you hit it the nail on the head with the quote above….your right…and this needs to change…i only said that stuff to show that there is no equality to this club…and the reason we dont have ps3s or other pc games is because the same people that comment in here are the same people that go to meetings. The reason we cant get a larger turn out to the meetings and the lans and on here is because of this underlying problem…Its one big chain reaction…they come on here and anybody that doesnt like anything but halo or CS is bashed which keeps people from coming back which in turn pushes people away from coming to the meetings because they dont think their voice will be heard and it turns into this thing where if he doesnt go then he doesnt go…so we get this cluster *edited* of people that only play the same games and have the same views on them…I was gonna address this problem when i was president but i never got a chance too…i have 3 ideas to fix this problem that will get 100+ people to the lans and more people to the meetings and how to get more games to be played, but im trying to do hw…i can talk about it later
