Despite what Kuros says, there are like at least 4 different things people call the “noob cannon” – the autoshotty, the pump, the awp, and the deagle, not to mention the auto snipers. But really, it’s not the gun that *edited*es me off, it’s how it’s used :P

We’re already doing that for the LAN flyers, so I don’t see why not.

I know the PS3 has supporting hardware for its emulation, and the 360 may as well.

As for Live, it works flawlessly. Oh Malley was having issues, but he thinks it’s his router.

Hey, I posted the rotation well in advance, and contra is an awesome map for competition.

Ideally the packet shaper wouldn’t need to profile based on port, if it’s worth anything it can profile based on how much bandwidth something is using, so large downloads get pushed back while low-bandwidth games and such are let through first.

Think of it this way: We have 11 games to play in 12 hours, only one of them runs in less than an hour. I can’t give everyone half the tournament.

I’ll see if I can figure out of Halo uses fixed port numbers, and send those off to AJ.

Starting a sentence with “or”? How distasteful. I expected so much from a fine individual like yourself…

Might want to cut it down to just one game per matchup, since you only have an hour.

Here’s how I would do it:

After each round, take most of the players from the winning team (say 8 out of 10) and the top few from the losing team (ie, 2 out of 10), and split them up randomly for the next round. Just use the number of caps as the score, since that’s the way the player list is sorted already. I can’t imagine 1v1 would be terribly fun, so maybe we should stop at 2v2 or 4v4 and give prizes/whatever to the winning team.

The size of their tubes isn’t the problem, it’s the packet shaper. I don’t have access to any raw data, but I’d be willing to bet a significant portion of what we have is eaten by encrypted bittorrent. One of these days I’ll write a proof-of-concept for a message stream encryption blocker :P

I’ve made a final decision, so you can stop bickering now: I’ll cap the points to 10 or so.
