torankusuParticipantWhile that’s nice and all, if I had to pick an older guy, my first pick is Hugh Laurie.

A couple of weird random facts about Mike Rowe: he and I share the same birthday and once he mentioned my small suburb in NJ on an episode during Shark Week.

At the risk of repeating myself, I sort of think that Americans misuse the term “Asian.” We generally talk about Asians as people from East-Asia or people whose ancestry can be traced to East-Asia. This is flawed because 1) it ignores the Middle East, Russia, and South Asia and 2) it does not distinguish between those who were raised in Asia and those whose family originated in Asia. The last thing I want to do is insult a bunch of people (sure, sure) but I think it is wrong to refer to someone who was born and raised in the United States as Asian. A good example is Michelle Malkin, an American journalist whose parents hail from the Philippines. Whenever someone calls her “Asian” she is quick to point out that she is not Asian, but rather, American. She is no more Asian than I am European. In short: Master Roshi is the most awesome character ever.
If you want to be politically correct, we should start referring to ourselves as North American because there’s another continent that contains “America” in it. If you don’t want to call East Asians “Asian,” which is the general use in American vernacular (possibly in other countries, too, but I’m not very familiar with that), then it’s incorrect to call yourself American. Even though the rest of the world uses the term to describe someone from or something related to the United States, it excludes Canada, Mexico, and all of South America.
In the case of the word “Asian,” countries found in western Asia, e.g. the Middle East, are not incorrect if they wish to call themselves Asian. BUT, like I mentioned earlier, they generally don’t and they refer to themselves as a descendant of whatever country they came from, or a subregion. We don’t call Mexicans or Canadians “American” although they technically are. They’re Mexicans and Canadians. People from Peru are Peruvians. They could call themselves Americans — just like YouWinGameOver can call himself Asian — but they don’t.
I don’t think people really talk about that because “American” has already been around for a few centuries already whereas the American usage (at least) of “Asian” is relatively new (I read that it became associated with Chinese and Japanese because they were the first Asian immigrants in the U.S.).
torankusuParticipantFor an older guy, I think he’s attractive.
torankusuParticipantYeah, but I’m talking about what people call themselves, not what they consider themselves. How many Israelis go around calling themselves Asian? I haven’t met a whole lot of them, but every one I’ve met has never said that they’re Asian. They mention the Middle East or just be specific and say they’re from Israel.
torankusuParticipantWhile the term “Asian” can encompass a much broader group of people than just East Asians, I think it’s generally assumed that when you say “Asian,” you’re referring to an East Asian. It’s not incorrect to call someone from Israel an Asian. However, normally people would refer to a more specific region in Asia, e.g. in the case of Israel, the Middle East.
Actually, this is taken right off of one of dictionary.com’s definitions of Asian (click here to go to the page):
Quote:
Usage Note: Asia is the largest of the continents with more than half the world’s population. Though strictly speaking all of its inhabitants are Asians, in practice this term is applied almost exclusively to the peoples of East, Southeast, and South Asia as opposed to those of Southwest Asia—such as Arabs, Turks, Iranians, and Kurds—who are more usually designated Middle or Near Easterners. Indonesians and Filipinos are properly termed Asian, since their island groups are considered part of the Asian continent, but not the Melanesians, Micronesians, and Polynesians of the central and southern Pacific, who are now often referred to collectively as Pacific Islanders. See Usage Note at Oriental.

If you take a close look at the character designs of different animes, it’s kind of difficult to discern the ethnicity of the characters. Still, I think an asian Goku would be more acceptable. After all, his name is Goku, not Johnny.I didn’t really mean that he’s SUPPOSED to be Asian, as indicated by the rest of my comment. I didn’t say that he really is Asian in the series; just that everyone I’ve spoken to has imagined that an Asian would be cast as Goku.
On a related note, Asians are a lot better at cosplay than… well, everyone. (imo).
torankusuParticipantEven if he’s a Saiyan, he’s supposed to be Asian. Everyone I talked to has agreed that if there was EVER to be a live action DBZ movie, they imagined that Goku would be Asian. This is an outrage.
torankusuParticipantWhat’re you gonna do if some our admins are vegans?
I’d still give them bologna sandwiches. And then permaban them before they could complain.
LOL, j/k.
Tempban.
torankusuParticipantSrsly.
It could be win if they made Goku ASIAN. Why is Goku white?!
torankusuParticipantLet’s hope it was.

I wouldn’t mind deagle5 for 25 min, but I know some people would.

And I saw that video just a few days ago, the one with the kid who just got his teeth removed. Watch the remix. It’s not GREAT, but I think the best part is when they use the part when he screams. LOL, that part is awesome.
torankusuParticipantBoxxy is fail.
Dexter is win.
I forgot I already posted here cuz I did like fifty different things in the 5 minutes between this post and the last, so sorry for the double post.
torankusuParticipantHaha, that video is so retarded.
torankusuParticipantLOL, I like that scene when he’s picking who to take with him… HAHA.
torankusuParticipantAgreed.

The last time I tuned into SNL was when Sarah Palin made an appearance.
torankusuParticipantLOL, that was pretty funny. Wasn’t as funny as Jizz in My Pants, but I laffed.

If you liked this you will LOVE, On a Boat, the SNL skit from tonight’s episode.
Check it out on YouTube or something.I will definitely check that out.
I stopped watching SNL when they got the new crew a while back — didn’t seem as funny to me — but maybe I’ll start watching it again.
torankusuParticipantHaha, me too.
torankusuParticipantHow long is the poll going to be open for?

i fail at afk killing…. they always seem to come back lolLOL. There have been times when afks have killed me cuz they came back at the last second, which is why I said almost always, lol.
OMG, the last time when I came back and killed someone was AMAZING. I just sat down at the computer as he was running towards me with his knife. I was still in spawn, already had my pistol out, and all I did was hit the mouse button — didn’t even move the mouse yet — and I got a hs, lulz.
torankusuParticipantHaha, knifers aren’t always free kills. I suck at knifing so most of the time I die.
AFKs are almost always free kills, though. AFK = A Free Kill.
torankusuParticipantI like the knifing on the bridge only.

Even if it’s not an official rule, but more like a common courtesy (similar to playing A only on dust2 with only a few people), I try not to shoot knifers.
torankusuParticipantThat’s the old rotation in another order, lol. Personally, if we use that, we’d have to split mill, train, and office. While I like them and don’t mind them in that order, I feel like the server will slow down during that part of the rotation (assuming no one uses rtv).
torankusuParticipantEdited cuz I read it wrong.
Where did Chris post one of Liam’s mistakes?
torankusuParticipantDoh… this post was an accident. If someone could baleet it, it would be appreciated.
torankusuParticipantPutting in the most popular maps only works for so long until people get bored with the repetition. If we’re going to just keep the server populated with the same maps over and over, we might as well change it to a 24/7 dust2 server cuz there’s ALWAYS people who want dust2.
I feel like that’s what the server’s been like anyway (during the last rotation). Dust2 and then we rtv it to like inferno, nuke, and SOMETIMES the other maps in the rotation.
And then here we are, changing the rotation again because O NOES! The last one got boring.

torankusuParticipantI actually saw this on tv. I looked it up on youtube to show everyone right after (actually, I think it was just my brother, who only heard the last few seconds of it). *edited*ing ridiculous.
