ParticipantMaybe liam could edit the stats so someone who goes 100-20 isnt higher up then someone who goes 1000-250. It doesnt seem to take into account volume of kills.

ParticipantThere are plently other map rotation servers you can play on that are closer to you.

Participant*edited* I missed a couple good oppertunitys to milk posts out of this.. crap. oh well. Ya trife you’re just mad cuz none likes you =(

ParticipantYou have really 3 options. See if one of the admins can get you better routing to the server or call your isp and see if they can. 3rd one is to obviously to not play anymore.
The 150 ping system is awesome. I think it should be 125. There are exploits of having 150 ping. Some which people use for unfair play on purpose. It sucks.

ParticipantIt was a close match but your home team Rolled Like Fat Kids pulls out a win.
Early on CT we had them on the run winning pistols round and the rounds after. 3rd round they bought and a amazing team effort and last millisecond defuse by yours truly setup the following rounds of pwnage. Only at the very end of the match did tau claw their way back for a 5-10 loss.
Second half on T your local favorites came out strong again pummeling tau first round. second round tau came back and made some amazings shots to win the round, but not after shake planted. Setting up a buy round 3rd round where a couple key awp picks by again yours truly brought us to a win. tau got 2 more wins but we kept steam rolling the rest of the match for a 6-3 win.
Again thanks for watching if you did. It was a fun game.

ParticipantLike I said if you have a monitor that can display 200 hz you can have 200 fps with vsync on. Apparently some people can’t read.

ParticipantYa honestly dodgeball is what everyone expected it to be. A server drainer and a failure. Maybe you should poll the community first before adding terribly bad maps.
Digital
ParticipantTurning vsync off wont damage your monitor. The thing they were warning about was forcing your monitor to display a hertz level it is not meant to. The program I was refering to doesnt push your monitor past its safe range unless you tell it to through a advanced option. There is a chance on extremely old monitors that set to the wrong setting you could cause damage. But on new monitors within the limits that your monitor is setup for you are safe.
By the way if you list your system stats I may be able to recommend a upgrade for you to make your fps constant 100 even in smoke.

Participant800×600 100hz forced. white crosshair

ParticipantYou need to look for a monitor with the highest contrast (White to Black crispness level) and low MS refresh. A score of under 4ms and 2000+ contrast should be alright for gaming. If you want the best bargin go on newegg.com and get next day shipping if anything.

ParticipantI’d like to see another VIP map added. Possibly one from a earlier release like beta 7.1 pack of maps.
And are the escape maps still working Liam? I’d have to try to load one on my server and check but if they are maybe a ES_ map.

ParticipantYou have a couple options to improve your game play. The first is net_graph 3.
This is going to allow you to monitor everything I’m about to tell you. Next know your computer.
If you have a dinosaur you might want to upgrade. Or if for instance you have a laptop you may be out of luck in the upgrade department.
Next off you’re going to want to make sure your rates are all good. Go to a stable server (not wcu.) preferably a very small server or a clan private server and adjust your cl_updaterate cl_cmdrate rate & fps_max.
Your optimal options with a good connection and good computer are going to be the maximum for these which are cl_updaterate 101 cl_cmdrate 101 rate 25000 & fps_max 101.
You can move the numbers around to adjust your LOSS and CHOKE. You don’t want any LOSS ever and you want to keep your CHOKE low.
In a big server choke is caused by the server not your client in most cases so don’t worry about getting choke in a big server at the beginning of a round when 15 cts are throwing nades or running around shooting.
I went over the net stuff first because if you have loss or a lot of choke it may appear that you are dropping frames but in fact you are just not receiving the proper amount of info from the server.
Once you get that optimized you can continue on to graphics settings.
First off you need to know a little bit about how your eye works. The human eye can only view about 20-30 FPS (most TV broadcasts are only 24 FPS). So why have more you ask? Smoother game play.
While you can only view 20-30 fps from your eye the game runs much smoother with less tearing and jumpy ness the higher your fps is.
A lot of people use a method called VSYNC to increase their FPS. VSYNC in a nut shell synchronizes your graphics card with your monitor.
It makes sure your graphics card doesn’t out perform what your monitor can display.
If you turn VSYNC OFF you will allow your graphics card to display as many frames as your card can physically render regardless of what your monitor can display. This can cause tearing or a slight jumpy ness but the tradeoff is a higher FPS.
If you want to see what your GPU can truly do go to your graphics control software and force VSYNC OFF for hl.exe then go to console and type: developer 1 and then type: fps_max 999
At this point depending on your graphics card you’ll notice your FPS is much higher then before. You’ll also probably notice that your game isn’t running as smooth because your FPS is constantly fluctuating depending on the graphical load in-game.
The choke point in this case is your monitor. Your monitor can only display as many FPS as it can HERTZ.
What are HERTZ you might ask? Well HERTZ is a unit of frequency equal to one cycle per second. Just like a Frame Per Second.
Your monitor displays Vertical Hertz and Horizontal Hertz. For the purpose of simplicity I’m just going to cover how Vertical Hertz effects your gaming experience. If you’d like to learn more yourself you can go here: http://www.osdever.net/FreeVGA/vtiming.htm
Their are essentially two types of monitors. LCD and CRT. CRTs are the big box monitors that a lot of us have. and LCDs are the thin-light monitors that are currently in main stream production replacing the CRTs. These two monitors have their trade-offs but without diving too deep into how a CRT and LCD work I’ll just explain what the Hertz differences are.
In most cases a CRT monitor can display more Vertical Hertz then a LCD can. Most low-medium end CRTs can display 85-100Hz while higher end CRTs can display 200hz or more. LCDs are usually limited to 60-75hz with only the cutting edge LCDs coming close to 100hz.
Each resolution setting your monitor has (640×480 800×600 1024×768 etc) has a maximum Hertz value asigned to it from the manufacturer. Each monitor is different but for most part medium end CRT monitors can run 800×600 in 100hz and 1024×768 in 85hz.
So what this all comes down to is what type of monitor you have. What resolution you play your game of choice in. How many Hertz that resolution can display for your monitor.
Asuming your GPU can display 100 FPS and your monitor of choice can display 100hz at your desired resolution you can play with VSYNC ON and game at 100 TRUE FPS without any tearing or graphical loss.
I use a program called RefreshLock to force my monitor to display the maximum hertz at my desired resolution.
You can download the latest version 2.21 here: http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rl/download.html
READ & UNDERSTAND the instructions before you use the program and you should have no problems at all.
Some side effects of forcing hertz on your monitor are that you might notice your mouse sensitivity has changed. and you may have to re-size your screen to properly fit your monitor.
Asuming you did everything correctly you should have VSYNC ON, developer 0, max_fps 101, and 100 TRUE FPS in-game.
