Back to the debate:
I take offense as an Obama supporter being tossed into the catagory of unemployed and lazy. I work 2 jobs that pay above the minimum wage and I am getting a fairly decent grade this semester in all of my classes. I am lazy to an extent but most of the time I wind up doing *edited*.
And Palin…its not the fact that I think she is inexperienced I just believe that when you follow blindly you get shot. She has a daughter that has a child on the way but will not abort it and didnt know about conmdoms because Palin believes in abstinence. She said that dinosaurs lived 4000 years ago. She also said she could see Russia from her house. Her sheer stupidity has led me to not vote for McCain. I did not want him to die and have one of the dumbest people in the history of the United States running our country.

I am pretty sure that 99% of the topics on this website do not help the club grow. Since we are a social community, we should be able to socialize about whatever we want. Now, we want to talk about politics.

And how, exactly, do you know what Sarah Palin taught her daughter in the privacy of their own home?
I don’t specifically know what she taught in the privacy of her own home. However I do believe that if it is as everything else she has been preaching then yes she has “taught” her daughter about “abstinence”.
Palin´s daugher becoming pregnant has absolutely nothing to do with her policy-making abilities. Even if the daughter made a mistake and got pregnant, that does not mean all people who are taught abstinence are destined to make the same mistake. Besides, she´s keeping the baby and marrying the father, so she is taking responsibility for her actions. This entire issue is a ridiculous personal attack, just like the accusations that Palin didn’t take prenatal care or the false rumors of book-banning.
One of the very few things the Mccain campaign did right was elect Sarah Palin. She was able to endear herself to conservatives and expressed her principals in a dignified and honest fashion. The main reason she takes so much abuse by the media and the left in general is because she does not fit in with the modern liberal ideal; she is a successful woman who chooses to behave conservatively. Sarah Palin has a place in the future of conservatism; I hesitate to say the same thing about John McCain.

It has everything to do with her policy making abilities. Don’t tell someone to do something if you can’t do it yourselves. The daughter was not being responsible it was being reactionary. Being responsible would be educating yourself about sex and using contraceptives. By marrying this man she could make her life worse and worse for the child. I never said all people who choose abstinence fall to the same destinies that Palin’s daughter has. I just believe that you live in 2008 do you really think that the only way to protect yourself is to forget about it? To actually teach abstinence is to say that yes sex exists but you don’t have to have it until you are married. People are going to be curious you must acknowledge that there are ways to protect yourself.

Actually the book banning idea was derived from a quote made by a man who worked on a campaign for another man who Palin beat, so he’s not exactly an unbiased source now is he?
But let me get this straight, you are basing most of your dislike of Palin on the fact that her daughter is pregnant? You know even Obama wouldn’t touch that one? Because he rightfully acknowledged that his own mother was unmarried. I mean if Palin’s daughter shouldn’t have kept her baby, then do you think Obama’s mother should have? Or what about contraception for Obama? Think about it. I don’t think that you can be a teenager today in America and not know what a condom does. And maybe she was using a condom and it broke? You can’t seriously tell me that she didn’t know the consequences when she had sex.
But what does this all have to do about Palin? Is she unqualified to be vp because she believes in abstinence? Is your opinion that abstinence is such a stupid idea that anyone who believes it is stupid as well? So many people in the media and elsewhere have tried to proclaim Palin as unintelligent and thus unqualified.
I mean if you want to disqualify candidates by what their children do, every person with the last name of Kennedy should resign.

I think abstinence is a choice that someone makes. The problem with abstinence is that if this is all that is taught you can not go anywhere. Democrats are held responsible as well for their actions constantly. Democrats are constantly made fun of and called left wing nuts/fanatics.
I don’t understand why people can be republican because it just seems ignorant. I think Palin is very ignorant and stupid therefore making her inadequate for the country.

Seperately, what makes you think Palin is stupid? Post some links to unbiased, fact-based sources. Might be hard as the vast majority of print and television coverage the past 2 months has been by Obama endorsed publications or corporations.

Up until now we refrained from personal attacks… No one has called you a left wing nut or fanatic.
What is more igonorant? The millions of people voting for Obama just because he was black, or ignoring
the fact that abstinence is the only 100% effective method of birth control and avoiding stds?

We weren’t tossing Obama supporters into that category. We were saying that there’s a lot of ppl out there on welfare who should be thrown into that category.

It may be hard to believe, but abortion isn’t always the answer. Yes, it would be awfully convenient just to kill the baby and forget about the problem, but she stuck with it. She took the responsibility for her mistake. Which brings us back to welfare???

When you are a politician and you say things you are going to be misrepresented. This goes for all politicians.
Palin said things that I took from her to be what she thought. That is why I did not vote for her. I do believe she is ignorant and should be educated more.
My roommate is a republican and is an ignorant *edited* and the way he portrays his family and all of his friend I could say the same thing about them. I have never had a “decent” experience with a republican or conservative when talking about politics and I congratulate all of you because I appreciate these kinds of thoughtful responses.
I voted for Obama because I feel he was more suitable for presidency. I like a lot of what McCain had to say but can’t say the same for Palin (as you can tell).
I never said that she should get an abortion. I said that she should have educated herself more about sex. If Sara Palin is an advocate for abstinence then yes as I said before I believe she would have educated her child this way.
