ParticipantI’ve seen an Armageddon button before. You push it and you get insta-fired, shut the Fortune 500 company down for 2 days, get sued for everything you currently own and will ever own, never get an IT job in the future, and make the evening news.
That is unless of course you pushed it because of a fire, then you’re a hero.
To push it you had to break the glass around it and there were no glass breaking objects in the room. So to push it you get bloody knuckles.

It was actually the emergency shutoff for a 5000 rack datacenter containing around 180000 servers.
Now the firealarm was right next to it and didn’t actually turn the servers off it just activated the halon system.

Who the hell thought it was a great idea to leave it to one button?

Almost all datacenters do that.

Participantwhat, no dual keys to turn simultaneously?
March 11, 2010 at 2:02 pm #98392MasterP
ParticipantThere was 1 person stationed in that particular datacenter 24/7. Everyone else just went there when something needed doing.
She was pretty hot too…

ParticipantSo instead of having a man be in charge of the button, they sent a woman?
