    IMO:

de_aztec & cs_office are terrible maps to have on WCU. they are outrageously boring (esp aztec) and almost always one side becomes super powerful and just beats the *edited* out of the other team for 30 minutes. it’s not fun at all.

piranesi would be a fun map and should be added

fy_dustworld should be added to the rotation ;)

    rtv needs to be fixed

the server needs to go back up =D

I don’t know which admin threw up the vote, but if it was Kuros, I don’t understand how our observations are so different. I distinctly remember pressing ‘tab’ just before the results hit and there were 19 or 20 players in the server and the text definitely said ‘needed 6’. I suppose it’s POSSIBLE, but highly UNLIKELY that 6-7 of the 20 just connected and were in the spectate/loading phase of connecting, however I’m much more inclined to think that Kuros is confusing events.

you’re close tigg, 24/7 fy_dustworld server. there isn’t one, trust me, and [CAP] used to host one when I was a freshman in college and it was always full, even at 3am. talk about a niche to get your name out there ;)

I probably did deserved the kick, but Chris definitely has a habit of being a *edited* of an admin. he doesn’t respond to players and some regulars when they ask him if he’s an admin, or if he would consider doing certain things. in fact he just ignores a vast majority of people. I think if you want to be admin, you should at least have to answer people, even if you say something like ‘yes i’m an admin, no i’m not going to do X, stop bothering me.’

I also find it really annoying that certain admins will throw up the same 3 maps for voting < 50% of players are in the server but will always ignore my request to add dustworld as an option (just a *edited*ing option). Some of them claim it kills the server, but of the 10 or so times I’ve ever seen a change to dustworld, there are plenty of times where it definitely did not.

Ok I thought I was beginning to understand, but now I’m confused again. If you’re saying what lockem’s rates and interp should be, given that you know nothing about his system, location, etc., then how is that any different from forcing everyones’ client to uniform values??

    in reply to: ex_interp .01 #87154

    Spectator

I truthfully don’t know who i right, Kuros *SEEMS* to know what he’s talking about, but as far as first hand experience goes, I feel like I’ve seen what locks is talking about. I think some demo examples would be handy here. (then again, maybe for some reason, interp isn’t actually the culprit responsible for the shots that curve around walls, maybe it’s just some other form of lag… or something)

however, i can say that i have seen demos before where shots didnt make sense. i’ve slowed the down to the slowest speed (demos of myself and demos from cal-i players on scrims) and some shots literally just don’t make sense. They might feel right when you make them, as in you know you hit that person, but according to the demo it doesn’t look right. Again I don’t know what the reason is.

One example I can recall in particular is a cal-i demo from way back (1.2-1.4) where a guy comes up the T-roof ladder on nuke with an awp and quickshots this T on roof as he’s scanning his exit, and his cursor was so not on the guy (then again, it could have been that he just got lucky and was actually on the ladder and not stable or something). come to think of it i can’t recall so that’s not a good example.

    i don’t know… halp!

tbh, i really don’t know much about rates, but personally, i’d be in favor of testing it and seeing if it causes massive lag (i really suspect that it wouldn’t…, but again i don’t know… it’s never caused ME massive lag).

furthermore a lot of people are acting like forcing a settings to a constant value is somehow taking away peoples’ choice or freedom, which is silly. This isn’t an issue of preference, it’s an issue of level playing field.

    just my thoughts..

    in reply to: ex_interp .01 #87055

I guess I’m a little confused, but players seem to be able to notice when other players are using ex_interp .1 vs. .01. So if the problem truly is as simple as that, what’s the problem with forcing everyone’s client to the same value? I don’t really see what the problem with that is. (you make ur .cfg file read only so the changes are temporary anyways).

I agree, we played italy last night and 60% of T’s had awps and it was zero fun. The only chance we had to taking them out apartments was boosting through the roof. Italy is such a one sided map that I think boosting through the roof should be allowed. I also agree that red rock jumping on nuke is not an exploit and has nothing to do with this.

(by the way, please don’t pull that bull*edited* out of your *edited* about how the game was designed to be played, it really has no bearing on what WE decide is fair)

No offence xenocide, but you are the only one bringing this up as a problem. I don’t see why this issue is being changed considering the large majority seems to enjoy it. It adds another dimension to cs, something kinda unique to our server. You seem to be the only person to feel that this is an improvement to the server….

Goose, you might be right that more of the players who are good enough to get switched haven’t complained about this issue. But I don’ think it should matter… the entire idea of PTB is to balance teams, and if you get killed at the end of a round (THE MOST LIKELY TIME FOR ANY PLAYER TO NOT BE PAYING ATTENTION) it completely defeats the purpose of switching the good player. I’m sorry that despite how above average the regulars on this server are, they aren’t cal-i material and they can’t own people with $200 and a glock.

So whether you and your silly friends like this current feature, it doesn’t change the fact that it defeats the entire purpose for why it’s even possible in the first place.

Not to mention that something that is unique and ‘adds dimension’ isn’t always a good thing… just think about whether WCU had bots, or WC3 XP mod… they’d both be unique and would add dimension but would be terrible ideas…

i apologize, i was drunk and out of line. after all, this is a forum for club at a university and is therefore not nearly as shameless as my former post would suggest, so let me rephrase:

    Dear Toransky,

I sympathize with your remarks about how the current ‘fix’ to PTB doesn’t work. I do not agree with your broader solution of maintaining the current system as is. I am aware that I like to complain, however I feel my concerns have merit and reducing my complaints to ‘crying’ simply doesn’t do that merit justice ;). Additionally, it’s frustrating that the people who I see taking advantage of and defending what I consider to be a broken system tend to be admins. I am also sorry my grammar is bad when I am arguing on the forums or when I’m drunk – I’ll work on it. I’m not mad and I hope you guys aren’t either – but then again, maybe I would be too if I was wrong…

1.) “Your assumption that people only like the maps you like is also a little silly.”

if that were re: to me, i would simply argue that my opinions are far better than theirs so it doesnt matter..

2.) Piranaesi is >> than mill, imo and i’ve seen mill kill server far more often than pir

3.) Admins, currently, are NOT supposed to throw up votes for maps when > 10 ppl in the server, but imo, that’s not the best rule. However, if its possible, i think each admin should have a quota of votemaps they can use in this way, maybe like, 1-3 per week? just my thoughts

Things to be done to the WCU server:

1.) Implement the rotation you mentioned +aztec

2.) Update rtv map list to include fy_dustworld

3.) Make team balancing ‘swap’ occur so that people cannot be killed or kill during the swap (that sh*t is so annoying)

4.) Remove hlstatx (ie score as a function of time played) and put psycho stats back up

5.) Force everyone’s client to use the same ex_interp value when playing

    P.S.

Who is Lootool and why does he always shout his name at the end of his posts?? He just reminds me of those stupid cartoon characters that only say their name, like snarf from thundercats, or something… at least his gifs are cool…
