I will try to get up with keith tomorrow. Half the time I try to get hi he is out of his office in a meeting or out and about.

Once I talk to him I will let you know the route we will take in printing. Should be soon though, thanks waffle

From what I gather it was mainly update. I am not 100% sure everything he wants done though, and as such created this topic to put forth the notion. I will get him on here to further discuss what he wants done.

Please don’t pull an ASU and reduce PC slots for a LAN where PCs will have higher than average attendance.

Sigh, I knew that was coming. We have RARELY had over 20 people for pc people on the last lans. Dont get me wrong, if we likely were going to have more than 24 people, they would have had the space. They could have had more tables to if needed, as I had planned ahead. Now, as per my predictions, we actually didnt have that many pc players, and everyone had ample room in my opinion.

All in all everyone I talked to loved the new layout (many said it was really needed). The lan went well, we have about 70 something, which while not the highest attendance ever, we were able to get tons of new faces, and had a great time.

Schedule has a few variables we have to look at in the morning, games and systems related (not to mention the potential jacked up SC2 internet).

The changes to the lay out are the wii’s are where the 360’s were, the 360’s and the ps3’s are over by the wall where food use to be, and the pc’s have been streamlined into one long table. right now Pc’s have 24-30 current spots, but more can be added on if need be, or the whole thing changed, it is still a work in progress kinda (not a biggie though).

Whats all the changes gives us is a TON of room in the center of room, and the ability to stand in the center of the room and see everything going on at once. This alleviates the 20+ people who crowded around the brawl/360 torunaments RIGHT by the door, and looks very nice to boot.

Now children, lets all get along now. (seriously, stop whining guys)

We all can ask for help from time to time, but he has been working for the club guys. He was at the Scott/Walker events with me handing out flyers and getting the name of the club out to new freshmen.

As for how they look, it is an old design, and it wasnt originally going to be the final one, just the Scott/Walker/LIFE stuff got in the way. I have already talked to him about the flyers and hanging them, so that is already dealt with.

Further more, criticizing him is my job, so take a step back please. Also, please try to be constructive on here, the above comments could have been slightly changed and been so much more helpful to the executives.

I’m not trying to start an argument here I’m simply running on the facts as they were posted for everyone online. Both of you know that I don’t start arguments and rage if you did morally right thing so instead of assuming I’m trying to do something you know I don’t do go check to make sure all the facts were posted.

If you had posted what the actual constitutional revisions said I wouldn’t have said a word about it because how you worded it was more than fair. I asked before, twice actually, what the changes were and got no reply.

Let’s make a deal, ok? Every time you guys change the constitution, please post the updated version so more than just the execs knows what it says. So many of our recent problems stemmed from having multiple versions floating around and that happened because changes and revisions weren’t posted here. When *edited* hit the fan in March we were operating on 4 different versions; we’re at 2 now let’s get it back down to 1.

Also, make sure that SGA and our advisors have copies of the new version.

Trust me, I agree the constitution needs to be updated ASAP. That HAS been a huge problem. I actually compiled the changes today, and have it in a word DOC for who ever can update this for me :D

Also SGA does have the new constitution already.

@ Dusitn, once again, I does suck that we couldnt get everyone to sign in. Everyone was originally lining up and there was chaos. To solve the chaos I told everyone to find a seat and passed the sheet around down each row. Even after that I asked if all the walk ins had signed to. I really tried man :(

About the dustin membership thing, I know he may meet the requirements, and it would be nice to have him in the ranks, but from an outside perspective, it would look REALLY bad on our part to do that. because he is new to the school. If anything, I think it will aid Dustin to go through the requirements. If he really does want to become a president one day, he will be able to say “Hey, to all you new members, I went through those requirements once”.

You say the way membership was held last semester was wrong, maybe it was maybe it wasn’t, but saying that all qualified students can only regain membership by attending this past meeting, especially when it wasn’t heavily advertised, is also wrong. If you want to be fair about it, all qualified students should be able to become members for this entire semester, not just the first meeting.

Mitch, Mitch, Mitch, you really dont know what you are talking about on this one.

What you are saying we should do is EXACTLY how we did it. Some of the executives wanted only certain ones students back in, but I told them we have to be fair, to open it up to everyone (just like you are saying). After playing around with some ideas, I finally had a break through to be fair to everyone, and this is how the constitution now reads:

“Any student that meets the aforementioned membership requirements before the date of Sept. 1, 2010 will automatically be considered a full-fledged member.”

The requirements of 2 meetings and 2 lan events while having been a student of western carolina university.

The way it reads, ANYONE can come up and request membership IF they meet the requirements. Pretty sure this makes it fair, and very eloquently rights the wrongs from last semester shutting membership down.

Now, if you are going to try and start an argument on here Mitch, please get your facts straight before doing so, this is getting old.

No, Mitch,, the whole point of granting “insta-memberships” as you call them, was to allow people who SHOULD be members membership status.

The way the new membership status happened at the end of last semester was a one time, IF you showed up to that meeting, you were a member. EVERYONE else was SOL. THAT wasnt fair to people who couldnt make it, or didnt make it. I was simply trying to right a wrong there, not give everyone a free ride man.

I’m not saying what you did was wrong but when the subject comes back up again it’s pretty hypocritical to dismiss it outright.

What do you mean by “actions at the last meeting”? I was under the impression the meeting went pretty well. If it wasnt, please tell me what went ary.

As for me talking about immature members. I was simply saying that the whole idea is just a a notion of wording. The status of the individuals would remain the same, but they just dont have that word “member” attached to them. If someone gets upset over something like titles and status, well I think they have some maturing to do. That is what I originally meant by my statement.

I apologize for being 20mins late to a meeting set at 8:30 on a normal class scheduled day. However, I did bring along alot of freshman.

So here is the problems (I really dont give a *edited* about the past)

    – Appearently it wasn’t expressed to the FRESHMAN that they needed to sign attendance…this will hinder growth.

    – Talking to my roommate ( a non hardcore gamer that just wanted to possible play grand trismo or something with some people) he said that the way the conversations went on and was brought seemed like it was a bunch of nerds trying to run a country. I know as a gamer that people love to express their skill and involvement in a game but when you scare casual people off, the club will go nowhere except bring hardcore gamers in….that totally dimnishes the idea of “we bring students to college with games”.

    – I talked to a guy about little lan events every weekend. That is great, have fun, more power to you BUT as a organization you need to look at a big picture here. If you have a large lan with a ton of people set maybe once a month, than the rewards would be greater AND there will be more sponsorships. If you have these little lans and commit them as being a “wcugaming club” event instead of a little “personal get together” than a sponsor would look at these “small” lan events with not as many people and probably not give a very good sponsorship. (((this doesn’t mean you can’t have your small lan events, just logically it wouldn’t be a good idea to host it as a gaming club event)))

    – Last I noticed people were being pushed into office due to clicks. I dont have a click, don’t give a flying *edited* about a click. A job is a job, just be good at it and dont be a douche and it all works out…right? I know people don’t like others and that seems to cause backstabbing, clicks, and whatever else, but seriously…This is a CLUB that is suppose to bring CASUAL and Hardcore gamers together. If you bring some casual gamers, you might get some hot chicks too. Get my drift?

Solution: ANNOUNCE about every 20mins for walkins to sign the sheet for attendance.(bet none of the freshman other than myself signed)

Be casual about the club, be hardcore at the lans.

Have your own get togethers, dont make it a club event unless you exspect over 50people…

Try not to be a douche and have ignorant little drama queen moments would solve the last one.

And….lets get more people and stop the singling out. Its a gaming community…

(small idea, rewrite to where anyone can be a member apon the first meeting however only members that meet the honorary requirements such as being to 2 meetings, lans, blah blah blah can actually vote for positions)

-added at 4:25, I just saw that some posts would be removed if it had arguing, thats a little one sided don’t you think? freedom to express without having to kiss somones *edited* (as I said earlier) would be nice

@ everyone, sorry for not posting this weekend, been away from campus.

About the attendance, we did try about 2 or 3 separate times to get attendance. After those times, it should have fallen to the secretary to track the people down. I was currently trying to maintain order and didnt have time to hold everyone’s hand who walked in the door 45 minutes late.

I know this meeting may have sounded bland, and “nerdy”, but you should REALLY have seen how “nerdy” previous meetings sounded. About the constitution changes, those did make the meeting seem more complicated, but it HAD to be done, so if you can let all your friends know next meeting will NOT be like that, that would help us out alot.

About the member and honarary member thing, the ideas are the same as we have now with member and non member, simply your way is a changing of wording. Currently the wording works for SGA standards, and we need not make more trouble with them trying to create an “honorary” member status. If someone has a problem not being “a member” then they should honestly just tough out the member requirements. Thats the LAST thing this club needs right now is impatient or immature members.

I TOTALLY agree, we need to figure out a fix for this if at all possible. Regardless of my love for SC2, we gotta be able to play online for LAN’s sake. I’m fairly certain this game will get voted in tonight, simply for sheer awesomeness, but without a LAN function within the actual game we will have to resort to a hopefully fixed B.NET

That said, I will warn evryone tonight the game may be laggy as hell, and if it does get voted in I will go test the connection in there before the LAN, and set up a contingency plan.

As thor mentioned, I did abruptly take over only a few weeks ago, so I am seriously playing catch up. Had I been president longer, we WOULD have flyers by now, but currently I have been working on getting the lan dates, talking to the proper faculty, sorting out innerclub drama, working on the constitution, running the table at the Catfair (@ Dustin, Valleyballey who was rained out, you are likely talking about catfair, which we had a pretty sweet spot), holding executive meetings, and actually finding our long lost executives (seriously, random encounters in the dining hall FTW, they were SO out of the loop).

^^^All that within 1 week, 2 days, blehhh

Now, I am still working on the T-*edited* design (my deviantart guys are AWOL at the moment), trying to get up with the Scott and Walker RDs, trying to get all our crap out of the office since the last president didnt fill out an office form for us *glares at brenton*, getting ready for the meeting come thursday, and still doing that lil thing called class.

    1. Personally, I didnt know about the event flyer thread, I had NO clue it existed (newb president here, remember?), but those flyers are pretty sweet, we should defiantly work at them.

    2. I seriously welcome the Alumni help here!!! Seriously!!!! Thank you :D

2.a About the alumni help, I really appreciate it, for the most part, it has been very beneficial….. for the most part…. *glares at mitch*

    3. Yo flakes, why cant you make the 8:30? I set it that way so everyone COULD make, last semester I had a class TIL 8, lame teacher, anyways, so I bumped it back to 8:30. Keeping it late was merely precedent, and having classes done by then. Why cant you make that time, and what would be a better one? (serious question there, kinda sounded mean but REALLY wasnt meant to….)

    4. Dustin, LOL @ wcugaming.com, thats is ALL im saying about that one (nothing against you, you just dont know all the drama I have been dealing with the last few weeks, for that matter most ppl dont, lol)

Honest fact is I’m seriously busting it here. Alot of people dont get the concept that I became president like 4 weeks ago. Hell, I registered the Cardinal room the VERY first day I was on campus, that Saturday, while I still wasnt done unpacking into the room. That alone should show some dedication here. I did start off a tad slow (hard to do alot when you arent near the campus), but I am definatly trying here.

I am honestly open to all ideas, just run them by me. If you question whether or not I know something, just tell me anyways, I wont care, I appreciate the idea. I take very well to positive criticism *glares back at Mitch…again….* , so let me know how I am doing. Dustin is a unique case, he was coming to LAN events before most of you knew there was a gaming club. Freshmen or not, he’s been a defacto member for several years now. He knows how the club was run back in the glory days and how it is bring run now. This gives him a unique perspective on what does and does not work in regards to club policy and practices.

By “glory days” you mean when you were a student and helping run the show? Seriously, what is the deal man, how is the club being ran ineffectively? And about Dustin, the fact he thinks all “we” do right now is kiss *edited* and not get anything done proves he needs some time within the club, and on campus to see how things really work. Regardless of his defacto status, the fact is MOST freshmen dont have the leadership skills to be an executive (I dunno if Dustin does or not as I havent interacted with him). Freshmen COULD hold a position, but they have to meet the membership requirements (the requirements we are trying to fix), and honestly, its not likely a freshmen would get a position over an upperclassman (true story), but it is possible. As for kissing *edited*, I sure know IM not doing that at all, but as a student organization, we HAVE to abide by certain standards, I mean, we ARE getting free stuff from the campus, they just want their investment protected, as should we. The only things we have really done that SGA was on us about was fixed the constitution, outlined membership status, and dealt the the “alumni issue”. Yeah, the alumni issue was stupid IMO, but the school sees us s a STUDENT organization. Even Kieth Corzine commented on how the alumni need to take a step back from the club, and give the current students their time (TOTALLY his words, not mine, so dont flame please…). The whole constitution thing was HUGE though. SGA was threating to disband the club, so we got together and fixed it. End of story.

About the flyers, its kinda hard to make them up and pass them out as we dont even have the new marketing executive. Thats what we are voting in the next meeting. I am also planning on setting up a table in Scott and Walker lobbies to try and intercept freshmen to get the name out more. As for sponsors, we are working on that already, and date for the lans, umm, kinda stated that at the begining of the entire thread x.X

We have also already started getting the name out to new people this year, such as at the catfair. During the cat fair, we got 23 interested individuals, and their email addresses, which I will be emailing about the meeting come tomorrow.

Like I said before, no one is kissing *edited* here. If you think going and signing up for free pizza, or reserving a room for the Lan is kissing *edited*, then by all means, you have a ways to go before you understand how this club is ran. It takes alot to hold an event with over 90 people, get the right funding, and go through the right measures. Nothing against new members, but this is why we have it set up so new members CANT run for positions. They need to see how things are ran, and truly get into the club to do that.
