Bring rich to the club my *edited* rofl.( was seriously his speech to get elected)
Well, apparently Mitch seems to think that Dustin, a freshman should be president right now, so maybe he knows something we dont. I’m sure the “lets just play games and not kiss *edited*” speech would surely win the hearts of the club over.
He’s got Faulkner blood, that’s all that matters. Oh yeah I remember going to that guy’s dorm and being like, “Hey, where’s my banner and fliers”. Good times…

SpectatorKeith told you to boot alumni because a certain group of people, not going to name names, told him that alumni were entirely running the club and were banning people from the club. We all know that alumni were doing nothing of the sort but when a lie is told enough times it becomes tantamount to truth.
Dustin is a unique case, he was coming to LAN events before most of you knew there was a gaming club. Freshmen or not, he’s been a defacto member for several years now. He knows how the club was run back in the glory days and how it is bring run now. This gives him a unique perspective on what does and does not work in regards to club policy and practices.

By “glory days” you mean when you were a student and helping run the show? Seriously, what is the deal man, how is the club being ran ineffectively? Let me know, and as president I WILL work on it, its kinda why I’m here. Just give me an idea and I will be more than happy to work for it.
And about Dustin, the fact he thinks all “we” do right now is kiss *edited* and not get anything done proves he needs some time within the club, and on campus to see how things really work. Regardless of his defacto status, the fact is MOST freshmen dont have the leadership skills to be an executive (I dunno if Dustin does or not as I havent interacted with him). Sure, I bet you will wager most of the previous executives havent had much leadership ability, but hey, they learned from precedents right Mitch?

Glory days as in when our primary tournament gave $200 in prizes and the others gave around $50 in prizes. It was that way for several years.

Several months ago, I suggested we advertise the first meeting, but the idea was shot down. Grrrr. Still, if I get my hands on some of these, I’ll post them up all over campus.
I’d also love to see some new general fliers.

SpectatorYeah, I say we go flyer happy, this semester, but we gotta see who will be marketing come thursday.
I can say one thing, Im going to make it clear that my execs are going to have to work some this semester, I’m not going to be a slave driver, but things like rules, flyers, and console ideas are going to have to be done within a week from this thursday considering the Lan is so soon.

If you want me to put some up I can lol. As far as the kissing *edited* speech , it seems as though the club is a ltl late. At the valleyboo or whatever I tried finding the wcu table and couldn’t. Was there one? Anyways I think this should have been a little bit planned over the summer or 1st day of moving so that everyone could have seen the fliers. I can bring alot of people to that meeting that would like to join that hasn’t heard of or seen anything about the club prior to me asking…It is sad that there is a gaming association at wcugaming.com that I nobody knows about too…lol. I even have the house keeping and RA intrested.
Anyways email is dustincfaulkner@yahoo.com, text (910)527-4940 unless its a 30min conversation. Going to waynesville or whatever it is pass sylva to chill, shop, and explore if anyone is intrested call before 5pm.
Games are all about asses, not clubs with more people than any other club. Sponors = money.
*Games are all about *edited*, you are looking for it, kicking it, kissing it, or spanking it.* be nice on the flier =P

August 31, 2010 at 4:12 pm #104707Fascist Flakes (Jagr)
SpectatorHere’s a simple 9 step process:
1. Take Thor’s flier and print it out in Black and White. Ask yourself, does it look good and can people still read it? If they can, step 2.
2. Grab $10.
3. Put Flier image on flash drive.
4. Take flash drive to library.
5. Print $10 worth of fliers.
6. Give fliers to Dustin, Ephraim, Tallgeese, and anyone else that wants to help.
7. Post fliers in freshman dorms (Dustin), UC (Tallgese), Coulter (Tallgeese or Ephraim), other dorms (Tallgeese or Ephraim) and other buildings (anyone)
8. ???
9. PROFIT!!!!
All in all, this would take you an entire hour at max to do so. $10 will get you ~100 fliers, plenty to get the word out and get people coming if they read it.
Now here’s the other major issue: STOP MAKING THE *edited*ING MEETINGS AT 8:30 PM FOR *edited*S SAKE. People have other things to do and still want to come, what happened to meetings at 7 or 7:30? Maybe even 8, but 8:30? Holy god.

No. One or two execs said it wasn’t necessary. I still say it is a smart idea to advertise meetings.
August 31, 2010 at 4:31 pm #104711MasterP
SpectatorIf we don’t advertise meetings we WILL NOT grow as a club.
Please don’t wait until the week of a meeting or LAN to tell us someone’s AWOL. It takes 10-20 minutes to throw together a decent flier…
August 31, 2010 at 4:34 pm #104712Thor
Spectatorlol wow first off dont post the flyer bc ill take a shot in the dark and assume you dont know it has to be approved first, unlike what mitch says if we say *edited* following the rules we will get in trouble. The *edited* flyer was a joke and if we posted it and is seen as vulgar well good bye club wether Keith is the main backer or not, bc well personally if i had a group of ppl going around posting *edited* and doing what ever they wanted id cut ties with them asap before they drag me down with them. As for the wcugaming.com yes we know about them, yes there was a table at catfair it was pretty much right in the center of the main walkway, we did get ppl to sign up blah blah blah. Best bet now is to go heavy word of mouth, Talgeese has also stated that he will be getting a table set up in Scott/Walker lobbys.
Frankly this first meeting is going to be mostly business with elections and making admendments to the constitution. If you want the club to be viewed as strictly gaming how many ppl do you want to bring to the first meeting were they will mostly just be sitting there listing to ppl approve *edited* and giving speeches for positions. I mean hell do we even need to vote on games lol. Watch if these games arent the ones being played
Thors Top Picks
TF2
L4D2

CoD MW2
Halo 3
BlazBlue/Tekken/Street Fighter

All in all I really think Daniels doing a great job considering he just picked up the presidency at the end of summer. Hes been working hard trying to get ahold of execs considering the contact info the forums is out of date.

I’m going to inb4 this and simply say: not likely. Remember the WCUGA guys will be voting and they think counter strike is the antichrist.
PC games will more likely be TF2, L4D2, some *edited* ported fighter game, and a worms style game.
Having the CSS/TF2/L4D2 combo would likely bring in a good out of town crowd, hell I’d probably drive up for it, but the way it’s gone lately I just can’t see it happening.
I have to agree that the USSR flier is a good way to get in trouble.

This is SO true, I tryed so hard to get this across weeks ago

We need a boat load of flyers, I’ll be willing to donate to get more than usual as long as they get up. Because adverts have been lacking in the past we should be able to not only pull in freshmen but alot of sophomores that are not aware of us.
One thing that helped APP state in there Heyday was at the first recruiting meeting they gave you an incentive to show up to learn what we are all about (aka free food). Once they got people in the room and talked about the club itself what events go on throughout the year and why its a fun club they will come back. In the past we have not focused on this much. This may have been (from the perspective of a freshmen) boring just to plan the next LAN. Please consider this.
At this time we can start preparing for this day; create flyers so all that needs to be done is a date once school starts; plan an agenda of whats going to be talked about at the meeting since the first meetings is(should be) more about the club than planing upcoming events.
Something to think about
^^^^^^^^^^^Please reread^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
-thanks
now onto flyers, they have been sitting idle for 5 weeks waiting for an exec to let us know what they would like to see on them.
See link: http://www.wcugaming.org/forums/index.php?/topic/13243-flyers/page__view__findpost__p__102788
or
What upsets us as alumni is we have offered to help organize what needed to be done over the summer so the ball does not get droped. We have donated time to design a flyer which was ignored. We have offered to donate our money to help out with the first event, which was ignored. And we have offered to help create an agenda for what was going to be talked about during this first meeting so we retain the members and its not just a boring lecture fest as Thor stated above.
This is what is referred as *edited*ing in our cornflakes, because time and time again we get shot down for helping.

SpectatorIDK who the Marketing is those flyers will be used bc they had such a great response when they were posted as for everything else the first event has is pretty much taken care of as of the first weekend daniel was on campus. Got the room, the date, and pizza, just have to buy the drinks and pick the games.
Also with your post there Dice it was in between Presidents so think it kinda fell to the wayside. I do fully agree with you however and maybe we can start planning all this for our next meeting now make sure its kickass so on and so forth. All and all i think that would be a better enviroment for potential new members to attend.
August 31, 2010 at 6:54 pm #104723Phonetically Phamous (dice
SpectatorJust to clarify this was a thread about the first meeting not the first event. My response was geared towards the meeting only.
And I’m not knocking Tallgeese or anyone for that matter. Alot of *edited* has got done but alot has not been taken care of. All I’m saying is we should not even be on this topic with all that help that has be offered.
So what is going to keep the freshmen interested during this meeting if they cant do anything? Are we going to add the topics and talked about the club itself what events go on throughout the year and why its a fun club to join? Are we going to respond to the lingering question in the flyer thread so we can revise the flyer to make it into a meeting flyer and not an event flyer? Need any help getting flyers made and hung? Its not going to happen unless someone takes or is put in charge. I find the excuse “we dont have a marking admin” intolerable.

SpectatorAs thor mentioned, I did abruptly take over only a few weeks ago, so I am seriously playing catch up. Had I been president longer, we WOULD have flyers by now, but currently I have been working on getting the lan dates, talking to the proper faculty, sorting out innerclub drama, working on the constitution, running the table at the Catfair (@ Dustin, Valleyballey who was rained out, you are likely talking about catfair, which we had a pretty sweet spot), holding executive meetings, and actually finding our long lost executives (seriously, random encounters in the dining hall FTW, they were SO out of the loop).
^^^All that within 1 week, 2 days, blehhh
Now, I am still working on the T-*edited* design (my deviantart guys are AWOL at the moment), trying to get up with the Scott and Walker RDs, trying to get all our crap out of the office since the last president didnt fill out an office form for us *glares at brenton*, getting ready for the meeting come thursday, and still doing that lil thing called class.
1. Personally, I didnt know about the event flyer thread, I had NO clue it existed (newb president here, remember?), but those flyers are pretty sweet, we should defiantly work at them.
2. I seriously welcome the Alumni help here!!! Seriously!!!! Thank you

2.a About the alumni help, I really appreciate it, for the most part, it has been very beneficial….. for the most part…. *glares at mitch*
3.
Yo flakes, why cant you make the 8:30? I set it that way so everyone COULD make, last semester I had a class TIL 8, lame teacher, anyways, so I bumped it back to 8:30. Keeping it late was merely precedent, and having classes done by then. Why cant you make that time, and what would be a better one? (serious question there, kinda sounded mean but REALLY wasnt meant to….)4. Dustin, LOL @ wcugaming.com, thats is ALL im saying about that one (nothing against you, you just dont know all the drama I have been dealing with the last few weeks, for that matter most ppl dont, lol)
Honest fact is I’m seriously busting it here. Alot of people dont get the concept that I became president like 4 weeks ago. Hell, I registered the Cardinal room the VERY first day I was on campus, that Saturday, while I still wasnt done unpacking into the room. That alone should show some dedication here. I did start off a tad slow (hard to do alot when you arent near the campus), but I am definatly trying here.
I am honestly open to all ideas, just run them by me. If you question whether or not I know something, just tell me anyways, I wont care, I appreciate the idea. I take very well to positive criticism *glares back at Mitch…again….*
, so let me know how I am doing. All the detail stuff like who to talk to or what form to fill out has already been done, mainly thanks to the Alumni telling me about it, so, keep it up guys!
Wall o text, again, dang it…..

I just call it like I see it and I don’t see CSS getting voted in. Vote for the games you want, no one here has a problem with that, but don’t get upset when I call the games you’re going to vote in before the meeting starts. By all means, prove me wrong, I’d actually prefer to be wrong on this one.
I agree though, aside from PC that’s basically the lineup I was expecting. Good mix of fighting, FPS, and you can’t go wrong with Brawl.
I would be hesitant with hosting a Starcraft2 tournament. Not because of the gameplay, quite the opposite it’d be an awesome game to play but it doesn’t have any LAN capabilities and WCU is having serious lag issues with playing it online. It’d be a shame to get everyone pumped only to discover that people sitting beside each other on a gigabit network were timing out during their match. Maybe have it at a later event after ITS gets their *edited* together but right now with the high probability of having serious issues, I don’t know that I’d even risk it.
Btw, I’m not just a smart *edited* to you guys. Notice the campus network’s been a little slow and crashy lately? I told them it would be that way 3 months ago and 2 weeks ago reminded them why it was doing it and how to very easily fix it.
No one is being overly critical of you Tallgeese, considering how long you’ve been in office a surprising amount of work has actually gotten done. Couple things in reply to your post. Since Brenton isn’t likely to check this I’ll fill you in, the club we were sharing the office with did not want to continue having an office. Since we can’t have an office by ourselves and the UC staff wasn’t overly helpful in locating another partner club he opted to not renew it. He REALLY wanted the office but there wasn’t really anything he could really do about it.
As to the glares at me, if you don’t think my presence is beneficial you don’t know what I’m doing behind the scenes. Also, implying that I haven’t helped you isn’t really all that fair either, the last time you asked for advice (Been a busy man… thread) I wasn’t negative. At all. If you ask for help, I’ll give it without complaint or criticism but if something doesn’t get done and you didn’t ask about it, know about it, or didn’t ask for help with it I consider you fair game. I apply this equally to everyone: Kuros, Bitey, Nickname, Kazka, you, Liam, etc.
Btw, check out the contact sticky I posted in exec discussion. It should help tremendously with contacting RDs. Most of the president’s work can be done via phone, if you need direct line numbers for people let me know and I’ll show you how to look them up. With you being off campus, this would be beneficial as well.
I think Flakes’ problem with the meeting time is that it keeps getting pushed back later and later. We didn’t used to have to schedule around classes because missing members could vote via IRC while in class but people *edited*ed and… sorry I’m being negative again. Unless any of the execs have night classes we really need to try to rein the start time back to around 8. For people who drive, parking can be a nightmare that late and for the hardcore gamers it really messes with people who have clan matches or guild raids.
