Is the Smash events going by competitive banned maps, tier lists, 3 stock 1v1 best out of 3, 3 stock 2v2 best out of 3, and Wii Motes not allowed unless using the classic controller?

If so count me in and also…

I have a Wii but only one GC Controller. My friend who I 2v2 with has a Wii as well if they are needed.

    My history in SSBM/SSBB:

I am from the NC SSBM/SSBB team Taco Bell Ocho (woot woot top in NC). We compete at a lot of events and are quite competitive. I slacked off from playing both games due to fact the team has kinda separated minus Adams who is the 1st NC player to ever get sponsored (LoZr doesn’t count hes from SC but never played a tournament in SC ahaha). Only reason why I posted this is Adams might come stop by the college to Smash with me and just fair warning if I bring him by. I win 1 out of 20 matches against him. No lie. He is that good.

I certainly want to play you guys. I’ve been a competitive smasher for years and have been to tons of melee tourneys. I used to live up north and played with Chillin (so I’m definitely not a scrub lol) East Coast Eddie, and Jank all the time. Also, the rules you were talking about are the ones we have been using for the LANs. So definitely come to the LAN and we hold free smash every Saturday 6 pm till whenever in the central dorm multipurpose room. It’d be nice if you could come to the one this coming Saturday, I wanna see what you guys have got, especially in Melee. Come on down!

PS lol if these two are really the best in NC I might be the new best… Chillin, ECE, Jank and I would clown them…you guys HAVE to come down to WCU now, melee is too good

Lawl…it’d be nice if more people used these forums, but you know I’ll be there. Also, we need at least one copy of melee as well, so if anyone coming reads this and has a disc, thanks. I assume I’ll end up asking Matt if he has his.

Falco: Falco plays completely different than he did in Melee. His reflector shield has been completely reimagined, which puts an end to his pillars. Also, his blaster can no longer be shorthopped, which was also major part of his game. This being said, no one really knows how to play him anymore. His projectile reflector will probably be really important, but who knows. People are going to have to throw all previous knowledge of him out the window. (I think his dair is no longer a spike, which would be a major deal, but I’m not sure.)

It is indeed still a spike, and as for his laz0rs, he can also still shorthop them, only now you can shoot two in one shorthop and then another as soon as you hit the ground…so, it seems people will be trying to abuse that as much as possible, but due to the nature of the game it will never be anywhere near as lame as melee Falco. Falco will probably end up being highish tier but not top. It’s hard to say really where the space animals will place in this game, though I feel I can safely say they will no longer have such dominance.

On another note, I’m very pleased with how Captain Falcon has turned out. As soon as the game came out, everyone was declaring that he was useless, or horrible. I watched some vids of the Japanese version and was also very dissapointed. Since playing the game however, I feel that he can still be a beast. He can’t combo as well as he did in melee, and the knee requires perfect timing, but he is still very fast and hard to deal with. Combos are character specific and given the right match up he still rocks. Combos ending in knees are essentially nonexistent, but nair and uair combos are abundant, especially when prefaced by a grab dthrow.

Due to the nature of Brawl, I agree that one main won’t cut it, because someone like CFal wouldn’t want to fight say, Lucario, who has perfect priority. With 35 characters of varying abilities, this game is going to be about match-ups hardcore. That being said, I’ve been playing Marth a lot as well and he may be something like an exception to that rule…He’s pretty nuts. He was generally considered the best character among the top players in melee and he seems even better now, still possessing much of his combo ability but with super fast side b combos and an up b that kills. Also, even though L canceling is out, some of his moves have even less lag than they did in melee, most notably the nair, though even with all that I very much doubt he will dominate a game like Brawl. With 35 diverse characters and 99 percent of their abilities still hidden, anything can happen.

Same here. And even though Wolf is really cool having three fox clones is a tad unnecessary I’d have to say.

Know what they should have had instead of one of the fox clones? Freakin’ King K. Rool. His exclusion is literally the only thing about Brawl that really *edited*es me off. They have his theme in there, and it’s awesome, but no dice. I guess I’ll have to wait 6 more years for the next one…

Anyone unlocked Toon Link? He owns like a gagillion times harder than Link. TL for top tier

    Also, yes to viable heavyweights

Look, I know people who are pros at Smash. They have nothing to brag about. There is one guy here who has repeatedly came up to my dorm just to brag and beat Matt and I at the game, but I’m not going to plaster his name on this forum because that’s just unnecessary.

So what if they’re bragging about winning money? Do you think that means they really are? They brag because they have nothing better to do here. If someone randomly shows up at this school who is fairly well at the game, they flock over to that person. If they were “pros” like they claimed to be, they wouldn’t even show up at the LANs because they’d be in actual ranked tournaments.

The best thing to do is just to have fun and simply ignore those kinds of people. I know braggarts are really annoying and all, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s more fun just to take pleasure in the fact that they’re making a good time into a stupid competition to prove themselves to people who couldn’t care less.

Oh Lawd, I hope you’re not talking about me…I found Matt because I wanted to play smash and have friends…any “bragging” is satirical. I’m no pro, and you even said there are no pros at the lan. I’m a competitive player. I win a bit of money sometimes, but the pros would destroy me. For the record, people here have called me a “pro” but I’ve never said that about myself. Also, I loved playing you guys because you’re probably the best here, not because I have some crazy ego or something…there are plenty of people I could find to beat if that were true. I play you guys because you’re you, not because of Smash. Sorry if you thought/think? I’m a douche because I joke around sometimes… There’s a difference between kneeing someone and saying “ahhh, i’m so good!” as a jest and actually being an *edited*. :(

Yay! I have such influence in these matters of smash. Go Brinstar. I did it for the fans. I won’t get to pick it because I won’t lose :P

No Brinstar? I think we should make Brinstar a legal slob pick, because it is in essentially all touneys. (not brinstar depths to clear up any confusion)
