SpectatorHere are the rules – updated Dec 03
MATCHES
– Single Elimination
– Best 2 out of 3; Finals will be Best 3 out of 5
– 4 stock
– 8 minute time limit
– No items
– Any unneccesary pausing of the game will result in a forfeit of that match.
– Wobbling and other glitches, including the IC’s freeze glitch and Mewtwo’s soul stunner, are banned.
FORMAT
– Brackets will be randomly decided; if a team enters, efforts will be made to ensure teammates do not play each other for as long as possible.
– You do not have to stay the same character throughout the tournament.
– A double blind pick can be requested for the first round of a match if you suspect abuse. (This means each player tells an official [me!] what character they want to play, away from their opponent. This is to ensure that someone doesn’t choose someone with advantages he or she may not have picked initially simply because another player is playing a certain character)
– The first stage will be random or agreed upon by both players from either list.
– The winner of a previous game in a match must remain the same character for the following game. The loser can either change their character or pick a stage from either list.
This gives the loser a little advantage to help even things up, but more importantly it allows for one’s knowledge of their character matchups and the strengths and flaws of stages to be a factor in matches.
STAGES
Random
– Final Destination
– Kirby’s Dreamland
– Fountain of Dreams
– Pokemon Stadium.
– Yoshi’s Story
– Battlefield
Eligible Picks
– Kongo Jungle
– Cornaria
– Jungle Japes
– Green Greens
– Mute City
– Kongo Jungle 64
– Brinstar (not Depths)
I will be bringing a copy of these rules and the stages to the LAN so everyone can see them, just in case they miss it here.
*New*
Also, I’m going to bring my camera to the LAN to maybe get some pictures and record some matches, so make sure you put on your make-up, wear nothing but your finest clothes, and be prepared to have the world see your games (or at least the finals) on video!
If you have one, I suggest you bring your own controller. I’ll have a couple that you can use if you do not have one, but they are a little sluggish.
*/New*
As always, if you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know! You can also declare teams here as well and I’ll keep track of it for when I make the brackets.
I’m looking forward to making this one of the best tournaments of the LAN!

SpectatorNo Brinstar? I think we should make Brinstar a legal slob pick, because it is in essentially all touneys. (not brinstar depths to clear up any confusion)

PS: 50 posts! Woo!

SpectatorI really don’t expect it to be a problem. If it does happen, though, a double blind is the only fair way to resolve it. If people were forced to a random character, someone might draw pichu while the other gets marth, ect.

SpectatorYay! I have such influence in these matters of smash. Go Brinstar. I did it for the fans. I won’t get to pick it because I won’t lose
