SpectatorPhilosophy is an absolutely wonderful subject to study, maybe even major in. Maybe take a introductory course in it. Might change your life. Some criticize it, asking what the hell are ya gonna do with it, well that’s missing the point, the point is, is the point of your life making money?

SpectatorAudio FX 5.1, the force feedback takes some getting used to but it’s actually really good.

SpectatorAs far as I can tell Liam made a mistake in who he was muting, people do make mistakes, we ain’t the gestapo, we ain’t gonna drag a person out for making a mistake along the lines of checking jewish instead of aryan.
Brian
SpectatorWow this is dumb. Seph, we have gone over why it isn’t based off kdr, it’s too much trouble to attach to a database or whatever like that and would make for server performance problems. It balances teams well enough. This decision was made with the community in mind, not “favorites”.
As for the muting, I think your argument is about as valid as Brackets was when I muted him for spamming the mic. It’s simple, you don’t have that right, take lecarl for instance, when he starts to annoy people I tell him to chil with it for a bit. As for the specific incident here, my suspicion is that someone is trying to downplay what guilt there is. I really really doubt Liam muted someone out of the blue like that. I’ve never seen any other admin just simply do that, unless you want to make an exception and count me randomly muting bracket for the hell of it. This all brings to mind another occasion when someone couldn’t admit they were wrong, I’d thought time would have given some perspective and changed that, I guess not.
Simply put bring your gripes to irc, not here, not in the game. Check the motd, you don’t argue with admins in game, admins don’t argue with each other in game, irc, end of story.
If there is absolutely no chance of a miracle being pulled off (I’ve pulled off 1v11 bomb explosion on nuke several months ago, it has to be even more dire than that), then you can run away to save your gun. If raine has no chance of defusing the bomb in time and is immeniently going to die, he can make a run for it to save his gun and live to fight another day, that kind of tactic is in the same spirit of competitiveness the team balancer is trying to encourage. Do not slay for that.
Liam, learn to deal with people’s *edited*ing man, no matter how justified it is, we are still the ones who’s duty it is to hear it and judge over it. Don’t take it for anything more than what it is, whatever quality criticism it is, negative or constructive otherwise. If it consists of personal polemic, shrug it off man, it’s not so much a reflection on you as it is on their own inability to be rational.
Thank you for your side of the story ryu. If that is really all there is too it then nothing should be done, a lot of people play this game for catharsis and to let off a little steam from there day. We admins are there to keep it all in line and from ruining everyone elses time. Liam, if he is right, don’t take such a heavy hand in a situation like that, if he is lying and was spamming the mic more than that then all I got to say if *edited* off and die ryu. Either way, learn from this situation, whoever is at fault. This argument is over.

the main jist of my argument was aimed at walls, not peoples guns, if we were to us sv_pure 1 we could easily allow custom skins and stuff. I was in no way trying to do away with people’s ability to do that. Do we allow transparent walls at the lans? And I don’t see how forcing clients rates up a little bit would hurt those who have better connections period. :/
Brian
SpectatorAight, I concede, no zblock or sv_pure, I do however want turbo physics turned off(we can still stack the cabinets in office with a nade and some rifle fire, plus with turbo physics turned off the server’s performance will run way better, shots will reg way better cus tics wont be taken up calculating all them *edited* cabinets and everyone will get an fps boost on each map. Also the min rates updated to 66/66, that way if it forces some folks 81/66 there won’t be such a disparity and poor hit registration on them as there could theoretically be when it forces someones rates to 81/45.

SpectatorIt is a factor in 5v5 where there isn’t a lot of people, like the only thing we found that works stratigically was a staggered retreat tactic where we pulled back slowly, position by position till we regrouped in 4 or 5 and had seen the bomb on radar finally. I think there will be enough people in the pub however that the long rotation won’t be much of a problem. Besides I don’t see the problem with having a few off set maps. We’ve kept the original dust

Brian
SpectatorI don’t see anything lol worthy about joining their server so they can show me how they figured out how to get to the ninja hole at A on de_contra with only two people through legit means, additionally that’s my friends tab, ellys a nice person irl, I don’t see any reason to put the game before something like that
Anyways, this pic shows what the rates are forced to now, couldn’t we at least force them to the same thing please? 81 is not bad, nor is 66, either of those two is fine, 81-40 not so much, kind of an imbalance I believe, in fact it looks like Kuros may be onto something when he says “reg more ffs” because more packets are coming from them than are being sent to them.
Brian
Spectator/Sigh, I’m talking about transparent textures, Colored player models for easier identification adn things like that, it’s nonsensical to ignore it when we could easily do something about it. Any intelligent individual with transparent textures can easily make himself next to impossible to catch, all he has to do is look with the crosshair somewhere else while keeping what he is looking for in his periphial vision. Too dumb that we need new admins? Right, because the fact I’m trying to do something that would help out is idiotic.
One point I’d like to make, we don’t have to have zblock to have sv_pure 1.
Now yall say rates are enforced, I took this pic like two days ago, are their rates actually different from what is shown there?

SpectatorThis is not the only error people are getting. After finishing the download of the new maps they are getting a missing map error that is fixed by downloading it from here on the forums strangely. Is there any solution to the this? We didn’t run into it the last times we tried to add maps.
Keep this topic open in case anyone else has any points to be made.

SpectatorFixed
Brian
SpectatorNo, I’m wanting Zblock so we can get rid of the people who are using transparent map textures. It will force those which really shouldn’t be any different.
On the map error, they are getting em on map that don’t have updates to them, strike, season, villa, crane, those are all new maps they are downloading for the first time and once they are done downloadng em in game they are all getting an error saying missing map, yet if they download them from the topic I pinned they have no problem getting in.
Brian
SpectatorI’m pretty sure it will allow people in the server and just temporarily change their skins instead of kicking them. That’s what happens to mistern and socal and others on my team who join up on a match server.
We are having an error on map downloads can you check the topic I pinned and see if you know anything about why people are getting missing map errors.
Brian
SpectatorRevert back to windows xp pro man, you will get better performance, hell i will send you a xp disk with a valid and legit cd key. mailing address please?

Punisment:
-Any of the above offenses may result in a slap, slay, mute, or other forms of punishment. If the violation is repeated or severe a player may be banned from play on WCU servers.
-If a player is issued a permanent ban (permaban) he or she may dispute the ban on the official WCU forums.
-If you are banned please wait 24 hours before posting on our forums. This is to ensure that non-permabanned players do not contest non-disputable bans.
-Any player may be banned for up to 7 days without the possibility of ban repeal.
Help/Admin Abuse:
-If no administrator is present at the time you are playing and you require assistance, please join the WCU IRC channel and request help. The instructions can be found on the WCU forums.
-If you feel you are the victim of administrator abuse please post a thread concerning this on the WCU forums.
[Admin Rules]
To help us deal with the sometimes overabundant use of admin commands on the Source server, please be sure to follow these simple guidelines:
1: Use commands sparingly!
2: Do not initiate mapvotes when the server is healthy. Only initiate votes if the server empties, and make sure to let the map complete normally (Initiate a vote for -At end of map-). Late night hours when you the server is empty you can change it on the next round, preferably to a popular map like de_dust2, cs_office.
3: Do not excessively use the @ (Ma_Say) command. This function is available strictly to assist you in dealing with server-wide issues when attention and global-reaching chat are important.
4: Use restraint in using the @@ (Whisper) command to players. This should, if possible, be used instead of the @ or @@@ commands as it deals directly, and only, to the player you need to speak with.
5: Do NOT use the @@@ (CSay) command except in extreme situations.
6: If a player is committing a minor offense escalate your punishments (IE: Do not start with a ban. Start with a large slap and work your way up through slays and kicks.)
7: You may give any player up to a 24-hour ban with no demo proof required. However, please use the ban commands ONLY as a last resort.
8: If you issue a permanent ban please be prepared with demos showing reasonable proof of the player’s offenses. Also for the sake of clarity and common sense, ask another admin during the review process to view the demo to get a second. Sometimes people think they saw what they wanted to see.
9: If you have any further questions or require clarification, please refer to Brian, Liam, Bitey, Mr. Freeman, Fascist Flakes, or Kuros for more information.
EDIT: A few minor updates and clarifications made so we won’t have trolls or any other unsavory types splitting hairs at our own expense.
