when i said listserv, i didnt mean go out and add peeps that havent requested it,
i figured you guys would advertise for meetings, have booths on campus, or hand out flyers and when people seem interested copy their email down and put that into a huge listserv. then send out updates every time an event/meeting takes place and u have just doubled ur population.
more people are likely to check their email versus PM’s on the forums.

but what about what i was saying… hosting an older game that we all use to sit 8 inches from teh TV/Screen playing? i plan on coming to the spring LAN, and i will jump up and down yelling if i dont get it. and remember im big, i make things break when i jump lol
I think it would be kinda cool to have a older game at a LAN. In general, if the LAN hosts new popular games, the more people will come to it, but at the same time, its always good to have an older game. Like if for console, you guys could get your hands on several 64″s and plays DK64, Goldeneye and other schweet games. And for PC, get everyone copies of Doom and Red Alert and other games that were phenomenal back when we were all still tiny and allow free play. I think that Gunbound will prove to be enjoyable if people stop complaining about it and play it as it is a game to be enjoyed as the same with wii bowling.
Stop using them as the reasons you are mad and get down to it. I know you guys will still play them and still enjoy yourself….There is an obvious need to amend whatever procedure was used to vote in game because it’s definitely *edited*ing everyone off. I just think its pointless to act like there is a significant difference between consoles and PCs. I personally play both, just since i built my computer i play PC more. Doesn’t mean i wont go downstairs and play madden w/ my friends. its jsut stupid to segregate the club like that. -.-
also… u guys need to get twisted metal 3 for the next LAN

RTS tournaments really take far too long to play, sorry.in most RTS games, (Starcraft, AoE2, Red Alert, etc.) one game takes around 5 minutes with 2 people, so if u set up a bracket system with 2v2, you can be done with the tournament in 2 hours with breaks and bathroom and such and depending on how many people play.
We did this last year with CNC3 and 20 peeps and playing time wise, we were done around 2 hours with a 15 min pizza break half way.
it really just comes down to how u organize the teams and bracket system. if need be you could even make teams of 3-4 people and play against each other that way….
i dont have a flash played on this comp so when i saw that i was like WTF youtube is working? so naturally suspicious i figured it out quickly lol
cant you just make a listserv?? every group at tech has one
just get peeps emails and pop em on the listserv and you will have more ppl at every event

The way the slots are now, no one gets kicked automatically for an admin to get on, so i dont think we will get many complaints about getting kicked, more of just not being able to get on.
IN my opinion, the more admins there are, the more freinds they have, and therefore the more ppl they can bring in. Might not be AS simple as that, but i see that giving the reserved slots would encourage more forum growth.
so my train is
players>get reserved slots>make the forums grow>gain admin>come to play at WCU with their freinds>more players
and u see how it goes etc.

So my final decision on this is to bump the server slots to 28, keep this regular Sk for now, as Dice did lots of research (<3) and found that all SK have crashing issues, just some more than the others. He also found a more stable version than we have now, so i will put up a vote later in the week to see if you guys like it. As for office, i believe that the coordinates in the .cfg file can be popped into the map fairly easily so hopefully i can persuade him with cookies to fix that for us. Once that is taken care of, next week we can work on other requests that you guys want for the server.
Server suggestions i keep hearing that we will look into
-nades mod
-replacing maps/changing times
-adding cpl_mill or awp_map
-reserved slots
-ingame adverts for the website

)***Maybe we could set up an application or a refferal system
lets say when an admin sees a regular who has been helping out in the server a lot(aka by playing a lot, hence regular), the admin could tell him to go to the forums and ask for one that way, but always needing that previous admin and two other admins to say they deserve the slot. We can also set the amount of slots we give out, to say 5. We could then put in a rule that to keep the slots they need to become active on the forums and that would pave the way for more admins (not just spammers to get to 50)
i kno its a pain to get in, but i see this as a way to get guys to want to come play here more and will give us something that stands out versus other servers …. like if its a pain in the *edited* for admins to get on the server imagine how hard it is to get on without the slot?
just consider it. i think its a good idea.
