It looks… exactly the same? Maybe squished slightly.

I have a 256 fx 5200 limited edition and it only runs source at 20-30 fps. It’s not all in how much ram the card has, more or less it’s how fast the gpu and how fast the ramdacs are.

You’re lucky then – my 5200 could barely get 8fps on the lowest settings. More likely Yoda’s problem is CPU-related.

    5. And what would be the tourney settings for CSS? 2v2? 5v5?

In the past, it’s been more of a free-for-all – either taking the top players from several matches or disqualifying the bottom ones. We’ve never been very team-oriented. The more people we have though, the easier it is to do teams.

The reason i need these answered, is b/c my friends and i would like to possibly attend your next one. But since it is so far away… if it is not worth us traveling that far… we will probably not attend. Here in Huntsville we have a VERY large lan tournament for games and usually houses 1000+ people and very large cash prizes. We would love to start traveling other places and competing nationaly. Thanks for answering these questions and hope to see you someday.

1000+? Jesus. We limit ourselves to the school, so we’re small by comparison (should be able to get 100 for the next LAN). Hence, we also don’t really have teams – we’re all just WCU people. ASU does teams because they invite outsiders.

Source has far better lag compensation than 1.6, so laggy players don’t interrupt gameplay very much. I would say leave it at 400.

On their current settings they wallhack repeatedly, and do all sorts of other nasty things. Additionally, it’s pretty gimp for the CTs as the bots have to be micromanaged while you’re being hunted.

This may be a bit to early for me to be commenting, but i’ve only been playing cs:s for around a week and I still don’t find them too overly good. They can shoot long range like none other, but other than that i’d say they’re a reasonable level…

Exactly. They aim really well, but they’re still extremely dumb. Use your brain, or if you left yours at home, use flashes.

1: Map voting needs to go. There’s nothing worse than playing Office,Dust, and Dust2 in rotation of each other. Leave Mani set to allow “extend” voting, but the map choice random if not extended.

map voting keeps the server populated, I can’t count how many times 1.6 pub drops 15 players because some admin changed the map and those 15 players didn’t want to play the new map.

Well yeah, but he’s saying pick a map cycle and stick with it. He does have a point – maybe it could be an experiment.

    Maybe.

2: Friendly fire. This is a controversial one, but it’s my personal preference to have it on. Forces players to think smarter and keeps the nade/spray down. Besides, Mani has tons of built in options to take care of greifers.

Friendly fire on pubs is a disaster.

3: Open the map set up a bit to include cbbl, Havana, etc.

    Sure.

    4: Set a ping limit of 200.

Absolutely. I can’t remember if we have a ping kicker already, but if we do, lowering the limit would be good.

5: Consider looking into the mod which locks you in 1st person on a teammate and disallows seeing the other team on minimap when dead. This one’s kind-of minor, though, as it takes away a lot from spectating after death.

This is a pub. People like to look around.

I set the bots high so people would stop stacking against them just to win repeatedly. Then the next guy that had to join the bots’ team would get screwed, because the bots suck *edited*. This way, there’s a bit of a challenge.

7: Keep hosting this awesome server! We all really appreciate it!

Good point. I don’t think we’re going to be very strict on those requirements anyway, though.

It hasn’t been working for the past 8 days due to issues with the server hardware. Now that everything is back up, there was a firewall rule causing problems, which is now fixed. It should pull fresh logs next time it runs.

if you remember correctly, the golden gun in the n64 version did look like a solid block, lol. Sort of like a 1942 WWII luger:)

Did it? I never played the game that much in the first place. It is rather blocky in the movie, too, but it has texture to it:Golden_Gun.jpg

Also, the vents are too bumpy, as you’re crawling along you bounce up and down repeatedly. Could be fixed pretty easily. No big deal, though – just things that need to be ironed out over time.

Have you been able to pick up armor? I can’t do that 100% of the time, either :(

I would suggest what dice said – just change your name. If IPB doesn’t allow apostrophes in display names then it might break other things, too.

High-gain/directional antennas are perfectly legal provided they don’t transmit anything. But really, it’d be better for them to stop fighting like little girls.

Looks like a bug, but it may not be. IPB may not allow apostrophes in display names, which I conveniently bypassed by injecting (possibly illegal) names directly into the database. Not much I can do there.

gamecreate, not that it matters. the game is crashing, so it pops up a dialog telling what the problem is. but the game is still “running” – because the dialog is open. if i click ok, the game closes and THEN gamecreate restarts it.

If someone knows how to get it to stop popping up dialogs when it crashes, let me know. When it does, it won’t restart until the button is clicked.

all you have to do is place the map file in the main folder and they auto download it.

    Simple as pie!

This isn’t a problem with downloading scoutzknivez, it’s getting custom configs to work.
